Hey everybody, it's me Rascal.
I'm still with my friends at St. Tammany Parish Department of Animal Services. I'm having a hard time finding my new mom. Yes, I can only have a mom. You see, my mom passed away a few months ago and I was very attached to her. I really need a single older female to take me home. I bond very quickly. I really don't want to continue to sit here because I need a single person, single animal home. I'm sorry I just want all the attention for myself. I'm 8 years old, up to date on vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative and around 24lbs. My friend Alicia would really love to talk to you more about me! You can call her at 985-809-0183.

Sincerely,
Rascal ❤

The foster no longer wants her. They pulled her under us a year ago. She's currently getting out of the fence often. She's being destructive since she's not getting enough exercise. She injured my pig the last time I took her. Our vet no lomger boards due to covid. She needs a new foster or forever home asap. I honestly dont know what to do. We will immediately put her in training. She's amazing with kids and dogs.

Urgent Tosha's foster is selling the house. She needs a forever home asap. She's been patiently waiting for her forever home for 16 months. She's been in the foster for a year now.

Tosha was pulled from Animals of IPAC (Iberia Parish Animal Control) on November 22, 2019. She had been picked up on July 16, 2019. She was seized for a cruelty case. She had been tied to a tree.

Tosha is approximately 5 years old and 40lbs. She’s a very loving dog. She loves kids. She is house and crate trained. She gets along well with other dogs. She is not good with cats or pigs. She is active. She would do best with daily exercise.

Tosha was treated for heart worms. She’s spayed and microchipped. She had a 6 month proheart injection for heartworm prevention. She is up to date on shots. She’s had a great exam and negative f***l. She does have some slight trachea damage from being tied to a tree. She should wear a harness always instead of a collar.

Tosha can be adopted anywhere and is currently located in New Orleans. If she is adopted locally the adoption will include 3 hour training sessions with Canis Integrated Behavior Solutions LLC. They are completely positive.

$15 can save you a lot of grief!

We are going to preach Microchipping until the cows come home!

Meet Leo. He was in our Sheriff's Office Kennel this morning. He was picked up last night and brought in. Our staff scanned him and in his lower right shoulder there was a (migrated) chip. Thankfully his owner had not only registered it but also filed an alert back in AUGUST when he was stolen.

So today Leo went home with his mom who had given up thinking she would ever see him again and he got to be the best surprise for the kids who have been missing him for 5 months (after they came home from school of course.)

Please chip your pet. It's $15.00 at the shelter. And please keep your information current and file lost or stolen reports to flag the account when your pet goes missing.

Happy Tails Leo!! Enjoy being back home with your family! ♥️

Update: 9/16/19- Major is not adopted. His adopter backed out. We have had other applications but they have not been approved. Major must have a secure fenced yard, he could be a runner as many of the hoarding dogs have been. Still available for adoption.

Update: 9/13/19- In anticipation of Major going home we decided to update his heartworm test. (While doing paperwork we realized it had been 6 months since his first test) Did you know any adult dog without a history of prevention before their first test should be tested again in 6 months? Well, despite being on heartworm prevention here Major sadly re-tested positive. His potential adopter still wants to add him to the family but he now has to be heartworm treated and will have to be kept calm for 30 days.

Please make sure your pets are on monthly prevention!

Adoption Pending.

I am begging every one of you to share this boy. He has lived at the shelter for 9 months. He is the last of the hoarding dogs in the shelter and he has been patiently waiting for a home despite being passed over day after day.

Meet Major! He is the very last of the dogs, living in the shelter, who came to us during a large scale hoarding seizure back in January of this year. Major is 2 years old and the happiest of pups despite his past. Major loves other dogs and everyone he meets. He has a wonderful temperament but does have a higher energy level than your average dog, but he calms down nicely when he is out of his kennel and with a person. He is part Labrador and part German Shepherd. Major is kennel trained and fully vetted. He is also, miraculously, heartworm negative and has been on Advantage Multi since coming to our shelter in January. 9 months is a long time for any dog to live in a shelter but we are committed to finding this boy his forever home. He has handled running loose on 9 acres the first year of his life followed by being kenneled for 9 months without suffering any ill effects to his personality or temperament so we feel this is a testament to his excellent nature. Major is full grown at 65lbs. Adoption fee is $100.00

Dutchess is in need of a foster home!

Meet Duchess! She is a 3yo spayed female German Shepherd mix. She is very sweet, a little timid, great with other dogs and cats!

She is in need of some TLC while she undergoes her heartworm treatment, and has a growth removed from her foot. Apparently, the growth doesn’t really bother her (they said it looks like an overgrowth of her paw pad) but we can’t really do anything with it while she is at the shelter.

If you would like to consider fostering this pretty girl, please give us a call 504.888.0400, and THANK YOU!

We are considering hosting world renowned animal behaviorist and trainer Barbara Heidenreich for a bird training and behavior seminar. It would be on Sunday, July 14, 2019. We need at least 20 people committed to come in order to be able to put this on. It would be $150 per person, 6-8 hours of hands on training, and includes lunch.

If you are interested, and would be able to attend, let us know in the comments, and help spread the word! Once it’s set it in stone, we will have registration available.

See her website at goodbirdinc.com for more information on what she has to offer.
