Here are some details about the parvo vaccine:
When to vaccinate
Puppies should receive their first dose between 6 and 8 weeks of age, then two more doses 2–4 weeks apart. Dogs older than 16 weeks should receive two doses 2–4 weeks apart.
Booster shots
A booster shot is recommended within one year of the last dose in the initial series, and then every three years after that.
How to administer
The vaccine is usually given as a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
Other precautions
Avoid public areas and limit your puppy's contact with other dogs until they are fully vaccinated.
Parvo is a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, weight loss, and dehydration. The survival rate for dogs treated by a veterinarian is 68–92%.
