Playtime is important for growing puppies and Taz has that all figured out! Remember when taking your pet out for socialization and recreation, pavement and cars heat up much faster than the air temperature, and cars can reach deadly temps in as little as ten minutes. Tick prevention and Lyme vaccines are often seen as "optional" to pet parents. Unfortunately, the incidence rate of Lyme disease is climbing, and ticks are often as small (or smaller) than a sesame seed.
Just to illustrate how difficult it can be to identify ticks in our furry friends, take a look at the pictures (of humans!) below, and identify which ones have ticks in them.

Mabel is starting her summer off right...protected from parasites! She got her first round of vaccines and a dose of dewormer. Puppies should be dewormed a minimum of 4 times in their first year of life. This protects them from parasites like hookworms, roundworms, and whipworms. Jess and Tess reunited! When Tess came for her first puppy visit at 11 weeks, she weighed just 19 lbs. This week at nearly 7 months, she came back for some "big girl" procedures.
Mastiffs and other large, deep chested breeds are more susceptible to bloat and gastric dilatation and volvulus (GDV), but a simple surgical procedure can reduce mortality associated with those conditions.
