I am not sure if this still shows up on my page. I am no longer breeding dogs. Have moved and do not have the room. I hope everyone who is looking for a pup does their research. Check for health clearances and meet the mom and dad if possible. If not, at least the mom. I want to thank everyone that I have talked to and met through the years. If you have on of my pups I would love pictures. If you could tell me which parents they were from that would be great. Thank you everyone šŸ’“

Okay, this is hard for me to say but I will no longer be breeding my Labrador Retrievers. I am moving and do not have the room. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed breeding these beautiful dogs. I have met so many amazing people and made some amazing friends. It is so great to see all the pictures and talk to everyone who has one of my pups.. I will always be here for you if you have questions, having a problem or need advice with your dog. If you are wanting to add a new pup to your family, I am more than happy to assist you in finding the right pup for your family. I want to thank all of my puppy families for giving my pups a great life. My main goal to start breeding was to breed happy and healthy dogs. Like humans, you can never predict what will happen healthwise no matter how much testing you do beforehand but I am a firm believer in genetic testing before breeding my dogs. Things always come up just like in humans. I have been blessed that 3 out of my 4 breeding females lived past 14 and were very healthy. Unfortunately I lost one of my beautiful girls at the age of 8 to a brain tumor. You just never know.
Thank you again for letting me help to bring you so much love with your Nash Labrador puppies. Please keep in touch and I love getting pictures. You can always call. I love hearing from my people. God bless you and stay safe.

Another good article. This one on growth plates in dogs.

I have recently been getting a few young dogs coming in for AMRT sessions for arthritic changes and joint pain. So, I decided to do a newsletter ā€˜seriesā€™ for dogs that will include exercises and care

I just shared this to my own page, but thought it was worth sharing within this group as well.

I didnt write this, but it well written and well thought out.

This topic comes up quite often, between breeders, but also comes up constantly when talking to prospective buyers, so I felt it was worth sharing/re-posting.

VALUE

I have been helping a friend find a puppy. She wants a specific breed, for a specific purpose, with a specific temperament. I have found her several responsible breeders who I think would have puppies that would fit all of her criteria. Then she says to me, "I just want you to know that I am not spending $1,800 on a dog. Not when so many need homes." And you know, if that was the end of what she said, and she wanted help finding a rescue dog, I would have been all about helping her. But she is still not opposed to buying a puppy... just not one for $1800. So, at first, it didn't really register what she said, but as I thought about it, I became more and more offended. Because basically what she said to me was that as a responsible breeder, my dogs are not worth any more than Joe-shmoe's down the block... that all the time, effort, and money that I have put into health testing, temperament testing, training, proving, and selecting my dogs for breeding has no value. I have to say, this really got under my skin. Maybe it's because I have driven my girls as far as CA to breed to the most perfect stud dog that I could find... or that I just spent over $2000 on progesterone tests, and I still don't have a litter to show for it... or maybe it's because I have proven my dog's over and over again, and it just plain pi**ed me off that someone doesn't see the value in that.

So, what do you get for a $1800 puppy? Proven temperament and trainability... mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and great grand parents for many generations are trained and temperament tested- and they have been to a million dog shows, earning titles to prove it all. Proven health... mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and great grand parents for many generations have had their hips, elbows, knees, eyes, heart, & thyroid tested, they are clear of all genetic disease that I can possibly know of. They are to breed standard... which may not mean a lot to you, but it should. It's what keeps a Rottweiler from looking like a Black and Tan Coonhound, or a Bernese Mountain dog. It's what maintains structure and soundness, and what makes a breed a breed. You also get me. You get a knowledgeable breeder and expert in your breed. You can call me day or night, and even on holidays. I am there for you through all your joys and frustrations, sickness and health. I will do anything I need to do to make sure that owning one of my puppies is the most wonderful experience of your life. You have the peace of mind knowing that no matter what ever happens to you, your dog, your best friend, has a safe place to live out the rest of his life.

So what about that $400 puppy out of the paper? You get a puppy with unknown temperament, health, and type. You get nothing else. You can potentially get a dog genetically predisposed to fears and aggression, a dog with debilitating health issues, a dog who will never be able to fulfill the goals that you have set out for him. And if you ever needed to return that dog (life can sometimes throw you a curve ball), that person will not take your 5 or 8 or 10 year old dog back... you will be stuck putting your dog up for adoption, or euthanizing him.

So, who's making money? I have never actually figured it out, but I would guess that I lose about $1,800/puppy. I don't breed dogs to make money. I breed dogs because I love my breed and I believe that there are wonderful people out there who should have the opportunity to own wonderful dogs. The person selling the $400 puppy is making a profit of about $350/puppy. That person breeds purely for profit. Oh, I am sure they love their dogs, and their breed, but not enough to be any benefit to anyone other than themselves.

I guess people don't really understand value. It is not about the price you pay, but what you are getting for that price. And in the end, if what you are getting for $1800 is not worth anything to you, then by all means, the $400 puppy is a much better value.

MY OWN message is that "you get what you pay for". Please consider the VALUE of what you are getting when making comparisons between individual puppies/dogs and between individual breeders, don't concentrate solely on the price.

**Feel free to share.

Just saw this and wanted to share. I have never seen this before and it is so beautiful

A Letter from the Rainbow Bridge:

Hi, Mom, Dad,
Now that Iā€™ve been across The Rainbow Bridge for a couple weeks, they said I should write a letter home. Sorry, Mom but Iā€™m so busy ā€˜across the bridgeā€™ that I havenā€™t thought of home much. They said itā€™s okay and that you would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.)
Remember that night when I wasnā€™t feeling very well and we were all crying? I donā€™t remember much, but I do remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your touches and hugsā€¦I remember hearing ā€œwe love youā€ and that one last command of ā€œGo throughā€. I didnā€™t know what you meant, so I turned around and walked through the fog that was in front of me. I saw the biggest bridge Iā€™ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other side of it! They were all playing with toys and balls! You were right to tell me to go there!
My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling me back. Your touches became lighter and lighter and I wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for the happy place over the bridge! My feet started moving on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them forward for me! I canā€™t explain it, but I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do!
So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself! I looked for you, because youā€™re always by my side, walking with me, but this was different. I didnā€™t have a collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~ I was ā€˜freeā€™! Even though you werenā€™t there with me, I never felt alone! I actually felt like I had a huge cape of love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the easier it was to breathe! So, I kept walking! And I would feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking! I eventually made it over the big bridge ā€“ I did it by myself, mom. When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool! They gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a Guardian Angel!
What Iā€™ve learned over these past few weeks has been amazing and nothing like Iā€™ve seen before! Weā€™re all the same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have Forever People to watch over ~ thatā€™s YOU, mom !Youā€™re my Forever Person and Iā€™m your Forever Dog! We had such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but please know that I am so happy in my new home across The Bridge!
Iā€™ll send you another Earth Angel so you wonā€™t be alone. Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me. Iā€™ll check in every so often to make sure they treasure your love ~ I always did! When you miss me, think of a rainbow and know Iā€™m on the other side of it, waiting to walk with you again. Iā€™ll always be in your heart. I love you, mom! Time for me to go play

Wanted to share a picture I just received from one of my puppy people. This is Koda, a beautiful 12 year old boy of my Rylee. He has grown up with their 2 beautiful daughters and is a real love. It means so much to me to get these pictures and to see how much my pups are loved. Thank you to all who have my beautiful babies and give them so much love. This picture has left me very emotional today, missing my Rylee, Logan and Emmy.

When I am an old cowgirl, I will wear too much jewelry. Turquoise and silver and pearls will hang from me by the bundles. I will say, ā€œThis bracelet came from New Mexico,ā€ and, ā€œThese earrings came from Montana,ā€ and each piece will tell a story.

When I am an old cowgirl, I will be humble and grounded. Some women are just never quite pretty enough to be pretentious. People will find me approachable and trustworthy. I will be more understanding than I am now.

When I am an old cowgirl, my bones will ache. My knees will be bad from all the horses I rode. I wonā€™t be able to sit cross legged. Young kids will laugh at me when I say, ā€œI can feel the weather changing.ā€ But I wonā€™t ever regret a moment of it.

I will have a granddaughter who is feisty and free. She will remind me of me. People will think sheā€™s taking too long to get married. People will wonder if sheā€™ll ever settle down. Theyā€™ll say she doesnā€™t act like a lady. Iā€™ll just smile and listen and let her be.

I will own one good horse. He will be gentle and sure footed. He will look after me and I will look after him. Iā€™ll love him but he wonā€™t ever be like the horses I used to own. The quick and catty horses of my youth will have faded into a distant memory.

When I am an old cowgirl, I will still enjoy a cold beer. I will sip on it as I sit on my porch on a hot day. And then I will have another.

I will look back and remember my little black truck and single axle trailer. I will say, ā€œNow that was a rodeo rig.ā€ I wonā€™t remember how the truck didnā€™t pull very well and how it was awfully cold when I had to sleep in the trailer. Details like that really donā€™t matter much to an old cowgirl.

When I am an old cowgirl, I wonā€™t be so hard-headed. Old age will soften me. Iā€™ll laugh when I remember how stubborn I used to be. Iā€™ll become kind and soft hearted.

I will tend the garden. Iā€™ll bake pies and casseroles and cookies and do all the things I never thought I was cut out for. I will keep my house clean. I will be happy doing it.

I will have more time. More time for reading, for writing, for the people I love. Life wonā€™t move so fast and there will be fewer worries. An old cowgirl doesnā€™t get caught up in the little things. An old cowgirl doesnā€™t bother with feeling frazzled.

I will keep my head held high when I have to start attending the funerals of all the other old cowgirls. I will cry for them, of course. But I will remember our younger days and the good lives weā€™ve lived. Some of us will die rich and some of us will die poor but we will all feel lucky that we died as old cowgirls.

When I am an old cowgirl and it has finally come for my time to be up, I want someone to get on the fastest horse they own. I want them to spread my ashes at a dead run on a windy day. Let me float across the land. Donā€™t put me in a box.

Because old cowgirls arenā€™t meant to be fenced in.

The holidays are a time of joy, time with family and friends and exchanging good tidings. The last thing that you want is for this to be a time spent in the emergency room with your pet. Here are some tips to help you prepare for the holidays and keep your pet safe.

High fat foods, such as ham, gravy, butter and desserts, may cause inflammation of your dogā€™s pancreas. Pancreatitis causes intense abdominal pain and vomiting and requires hospitalization to recover. Keep foods securely sealed and enclosed in a high space or the refrigerator. Secure the lid on the trash can to avoid garbage raiding.
Bones: chewing on bones, particularly turkey bones, can cause splintering. Once swallowed, the splintered bones can cause trauma to the intestinal tract, requiring surgery. Ham bones, while they tend to not splinter, are hard and can fracture teeth when your dog chews on them.
Onions and onion powder: in large enough quantities can cause a sudden onset of anemia.
Foreign objects: such as string (used to tie the turkey), skewers, plastic bags and turkey poppers. Your pet does not have self restraint or the common sense to avoid these objects that drip of meat juices.
Toxins: Mistletoe and holly are toxic plants. Caution with snow globes as they contain toxic antifreeze, which is highly toxic to pets.
Tree:
- Secure the tree to avoid the tree falling onto your pet if they decide to climb.
- Ornaments should be kept on higher branches to avoid breaking, eating and destruction.
- Tinsel should not be used as pets love to play with it and if eaten, can cause serious injury to the intestinal tract and require surgery to repair.
- If you put chemicals in the water of your tree, cover the bowl so your pet does not drink from it.
- Sweep up pine needles to avoid health problems.
Maintain routines: With all of the people in the house, some pets may become nervous with the change in routine. Provide your pet with a retreat space to unwind from it all. Be sure to keep normal routines especially exercise for your pet.
Watch that door: If you expect a large number of people in your home, be sure to watch the door to make sure that there are no unexpected escapes.
If you want to offer your pet something special too, choose alternative treats such as a new toy or extra bonding and exercise time. At the end of the day, you will be thankful you did.

I will have one male pup available to go to his new home the end of April. I am having an Open House this Saturday, March 10th from 10 - 2. Come on by and day hi and see the babies.

03/02/2018

I am going to be having a visiting day with the pups on March 10th from 10 - 2 for anyone who is interested in seeing the pups. If you could let me know if you will be coming that would be great. The one thing I need to remind people is not to come to my house right after you have been to another kennel or a petco or any other dog store. The chance of you carrying anything on your clothes or shoes is always possible and I want to avoid any sick puppies. Thank you for your consideration.

This is Echo who is 9 years. She is from my breeding. The little girl who was 10 when her dad bought Echo just reached out to me and sent this picture. I have wondered for so long how she was. I was planning on keeping her but I knew how badly they wanted a pup and the others were all sold. She is just gorgeous. Hope to see her sometime soon.

A little less than 2 weeks and we will have a litter of pups. An all chocolate litter. I am repeating the same breeding as last year because the pups from that litter are so smart and just beautiful. Don't know how many babies we will have. Will keep everyone informed. Here's hoping for an easy whelping and a nice healthy litter.
