Classical Conditioning the odor for Nose work.
Singing with Strut - No wonder he's a mouthy boy!
Strut says all work and no play makes Strut a dull boy - so it fun play time doing some of the things he does best!
Fun with Strut - Working on object discrimination. Paw on mat vs Nose to cone.
Working with Strut on Color Discrimination. Dogs have dichromatic vision so they see blue and yellow but do not see red and green. Hence the Blue and Yellow plates.

Karl cleared a wide path so Strut could play fetch. It’s been awhile and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We love our pups!!!!
Shaping Exercise.
Millie is a 6-7 month old Newfoundland pup. We are preparing to teach her to pivot by teaching her to ‘step up’ on a upside down bowl. We first taught her ‘paw’ where she put her paw on the blue mat. Through shaping, we gradually raised the level of the mat and finally rewarded her when she put both feet on the platform. Sam, Millie’s Mom, is doing a great job shaping Millie to learn new skills.
The final chain in our future dance. Again borrowed from Rally with a Right turn and a 270 Degree Left Turn. Needs a bit more work, but was pleased he did that well off leash for our first try.
Tomorrow I start playing music while we are practicing so Strut is used to it playing. Will practice each of the chains - especially this last one. When all are smooth (if that happens) we'll start back chaining the chains together until we can go through all of them from beginning to end. Add music and we should have our dance... That's the plan, anyway...
CFD_5 Playtime
Second video from yesterday - Stutter's absolute favorite activity is playing fetch. So we often reward him after a "work" session with a "play" session, either in the training room or, if possible, outside. Here is yesterday's playtime. That boy does love to RUN!
Practice #5
Added a prop for yesterday's practice. Sending Strutter out and around it. Actually was successful with the spin today to. Will be fading some of my cues as we continue to practice. A few mis-clicks, but all in all a good practice.
Just one more chain to figure out and I'll have enough for our dance!
