Moving to Indiana
Apples & Alpacas will soon be leaving face book as I have sold all my alpacas to a wonderful family that has a young miss and a teenager to love and spoil them. A young couple bought my farm and have been busy getting ready for their Grand Opening. You must check out their web site as they have many plans for their working farm. www.HickoryRidgeOrchard.com
I now live on 19 acres in a hilly and wooded region of Brown County, Indiana. I am about 12 miles from Nashville, IN and 14 miles from Columbus IN off State Route 46. I just read in a Triple A tourist book that Nashville is considered at the foot of the Cumberland Mountains. I find that statement hard to believe. The county roads are not gravel, like those in Audrain County, instead they are blacktop, but very curvy with steep ravines on the sides of the road. My middle child, Mike, lives a little over 1 hour North of me. He wanted me to move closer to him in the “burbs” but I’ve lived too long in the country to have really close neighbors. I like where I am and live down a long blacktop wooded lane. Sometime late this spring I plan to open up a studio in my home which has a full finished walkout basement. I don’t have a web site yet but when I do it will be www.GrandviewAlpacaFiberStudio.com I brought enough fiber with me to last my lifetime and have been spinning and felting in my free time.
Nashville is quite a tourist area, population 1026 and has something going on most all the time, however January and February are considered their slow months. October is their busiest season with the changing of the leaves. It brings in tourists from all over to visit the quaint little town with all of its unique shops. The month of October also features the Back Roads of Brown County Studio Tours featuring working studios, galleries and cultural and music venues tucked along the wooded back roads. for more information visit www.BrownCountyStudioTours.com and visit www.ArtsVillageBrownCounty.com or download the Discover Brown County, Indiana app.
