Tiger. Little Haiti, Miami, FL. November 4, 2022

While out capturing cats for Trap-Neuter and Vaccinate -Release, a man approached me on the street and said to come take a cat he has in his yard whose “leg is not working.” He reports two weeks ago Tiger starting shaking to convulsing and fell down and unable to walk since.

He lead me to his back yard where I found a cat hiding under a motorcycle paralyzed wet from urine but alert and hungry, eating the sardines I offered him. Tiger is 7 years old. The man and his yard are refusing TNR of his sizeable colony of 10+ cats. This is a problem but I will work to inform and inspire him to TNR.

A nurse came to express his bladder and take a look, she references spinal injury. Video below.

I notice a laceration on the inner thigh and am wondering if not hit by a car, a potential dog attack.

I am so elated! I found an adopter for Ms Grey, after I thought she would be unadoptable as I picked her up in the streets doing TNR when she was about 2-3 months old, a bit past the easy to socialize stage (4-5 weeks). I kept her hoping to get her adopted as her color is really unique, a mostly grey tortie with Uber soft fur. But I’ve had her for months and she remains scared and shy always running running running away. She’s not mean but VERY shy, scared of humans. She loves other cats though. Not an easy cat to adopt and now she’s so long from her territory of origin I can’t release her back and she’s a teen now, too old to easily be adopted despite her shyness.

I went back to a cat owner I met in my neighborhood while doing TNR a long time ago (actually on the same street Ms Grey came from too) and was thinking she would maybe agree to at least feed her and have her be a outside cat in her yard. She was interested and wants her to be indoor only as a friend for her lonely inside cat! I’ll bring her to her new home soon.

Those in south Florida cat rescue know, as a independent trapper and foster these are the very hard to place cats we often get stuck with since they aren’t eligible for traditional adoption routes and we have a responsibility to see them safe and secure once we’ve removed them from their territory.

She was my first kitten of this type, because I held on to her too long past the period of safe reintroduction to her territory.

I’m so happy for Ms Grey.
