Despite this, with the support of my family, friends and professionals, I managed to graduate from nursing school, I am learning my third language. (Portuguese, English and German) I have already published two scientific articles and today I work as a nurse auditor precisely to help organize the assistance network for the treatment of autism in my city."

Women History Month Feature

"Hey! My name is Emily, and I was diagnosed with Autism at 14. It was definitely a learning curve for me and my family, and still is, but we are learning daily how to navigate life with my autism, and it's not easy but so worth it. I am currently seeing a psychiatrist as well as doing therapy to help navigate my life with autism, as well as learning how to interact with people who aren't on the spectrum and maintaining friendships. It's been one heck of a journey, but just know if you have autism, it doesn't define you, and that it's okay that you're different. Sharing your story can be inspiring to others, so I encourage you to do so if you feel comfortable!"
