We, here at "My Healthy Yummies for Pets" believe that not only we should eat fresh and healthy, but our furry little friends as well. So we went out searching for delicious nutritious and healthy treats that were also fresh. Nothing seemed to fit our criteria. So we got to baking in our kitchen experimenting with different flavors till we found the right combination that our furry little friends

couldn’t resist. After years of research involving health through nutrition, we came across some products like Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth (D.E) and others, which we decided to include in our yummies to help improve with our furry friends’ health.

Neem: a natural aid against parasites and inflammation

Neem oil has been touted as a miracle product, most notably as an insect repellant, but also as a skin soother, treatment for ringworm, and anti-inflammatory. But does it live up to the claims? Before trying it on your dog or cat, learn the risks involved and how to use it safely and effectively.

The old school bland diet for pets with diarrhea or occasional digestive upset was ground beef and rice, but many veterinarians (including me) have changed their recommendations to 100% pumpkin puree in place of white rice (far less sugar and more beneficial fiber), and ground fat-free turkey in place of hamburger (which has much higher fat).

Have you upgraded your bland diet recipe for the animals in your household?

FYI

This is an X-ray of a dog’s bent front leg. See that tiny white spec? That’s a microchip! It has migrated down the leg....far from where it was inserted, between the dog’s shoulders. This is actually quite common.....

When lost pets are scanned, the entire body SHOULD be scanned to catch any that have migrated. But, as an owner, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AT THEIR YEARLY VET EXAM, to ask for a quick scan to make sure that: (1) the chip is still working, (2) the location of the chip is good, and (3) that the chip info is correct.

Remember microchips save lives and reunite families with their pet.... just have it checked regularly!

WANT TO HELP YOUR DOG LIVE LONGER? TRY THIS!🍵🐶

When designing our blueprint📝 on how-to raise the oldest dogs in the world for our new book, The Forever Dog, we focused our research heavily on science-based longevity foods, herbs & supplements that can be added to your dog’s diet. Foods that could not only help delay canine aging, but can help nourish and bullet-proof💥 your dog against disease!

No matter which longevity scientist we interviewed, the one suggestion that made every researcher’s top 10 list of what to add to a dog’s bowl was “camellia sinensis,” aka Green Tea!🍃

In fact, the latest study published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology shows people who drink green tea at least three times a week can live longer and suffer a lower risk of cardiovascular disease!

That’s because Green Tea is rich in polyphenols, and contains a catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) which are found to help prevent cell damage, reduce inflammation and can help fight cancer while providing other health benefits, of course.

But what about dogs? Are there any studies? Shockingly, we found a bunch!
The most recent showed that Green Tea🍵 acts as a therapeutic agent for obesity, liver inflammation, and fat degeneration in dogs!

While many of us make juices or smoothies, most of us don’t think about using concentrated medicinal infusions in our food. But in the dog world, medicinal teas make inexpensive, polyphenol-rich toppers (“gravies”) that infuse longevity benefits into every meal. So, it should come as no surprise that green tea has been used in pet food for quite some time, but not in quantities to confer health benefits, so why not add some at home?

All teas can be steeped as usual, then cooled off prior to adding to your dog’s food. Green teas should be decaffeinated, and preferably organic.

Alternatively, add warm tea to your dog’s dry food and allow the therapeutic brew to marinate with the kibble prior to feeding, creating a super-saucy gravy and adding hydration (dogs aren’t designed to eat low-moisture, dried food their whole lives; teas help!). If you feed dehydrated or freeze-dried dog food, reconstitute them prior to feeding with tea!

Recipe for Organic Decaf Green Tea🍵 for Pets🐾:

1.Combine 3 cups of purified water and 1 tea bag or 1 tablespoon of loose tea leaves🫖
2.Steep for 15 minutes
3.Remove the tea bag or use a strainer to remove the tea leaves🍃
4.Store the tea in a covered, preferably glass pitcher in the fridge for up to 3 days

Add the following amounts of decaf green tea to your pet’s morning and evening meal:

• Cats — 1 tablespoon
• Small dogs — 1/8th cup
• Medium dogs — ¼ to ½ cup
• Large dogs — ½ to 1 cup

This is one simple and powerful way to add longevity benefits to your dog’s bowl! Looking for more ideas or recipes? Check out our new book with dozens of other suggestions in the Forever Fluids section of our book, available for pre-order now by clicking here: www.foreverdog.com/book

Don’t Judge a Cat By His Ear Tip

Spencer was trapped when he was about 4 to 5 months old. His trapper guessed by his size that he was too old to be socialized, so she had him ear-tipped along with the other cats in his colony. But when she brought him home for recovery, he showed signs of being a tame kitty. Was he a socialized kitten who lost his home or just a good-natured feral-born kitty who was willing to take a chance on humans? His trapper didn't know, but decided to keep him for a while to see if he could find a home instead of returning to the large colony where he was trapped.

Spencer tamed down almost immediately and was a social clown of a kitty. A month later, he was adopted into a home. He settled in quickly and life was good. Until it wasn't. A few weeks after adoption, Spencer slipped out the door when a visitor accidentally left it ajar. Susan panicked, but called the trapper right away to get advice. She set traps, passed out flyers, called the microchip company and posted him on social media.

For three weeks, there was no action in the traps and no calls on the flyers. But there was one neighbor a block away feeding a new kitty. She posted the look-a-like kitty, but when somebody suggested it might be Spencer, the idea was quickly shot down. A "knowledgeable" member shared a popular meme showing a photo of an ear-tipped cat. The photo explains that this is how you identify an altered feral cat.

She added, "So, this is obviously a FERAL cat, not the missing cat." You could almost see the eye roll in her writing.

Luckily, another neighbor saw the post and shared it with Spencer's mom. She moved the trap to the feeder's yard and he was home by the next morning.

It is important to educate people on the meaning of ear-tips. But it is just as important to educate them on what they DON'T mean. An ear-tipped cat is altered and won't be reproducing. That's ALL an ear-tip shows. An ear-tip doesn't tell whether a cat is tame or feral, free roaming or owned. Ear-tipped cats may be feral. But they can also be a rescued cat who was altered at a feral clinic.

When people equate ear-tips with feral, it puts a label on the cat that can have devastating effects. An ear-tipped cat is more likely to be labeled as a feral at a shelter, especially if he arrives in a trap. This feral label puts them at higher risk of euthanasia, or may result in inappropriaye placement in a barn cat program. Many shelters know not to judge a cat by its ear tip, but if a member of the public labels the cat as feral when they bring it in, an over-crowded shelter may not have the time to give the cat the benefit of the doubt.

Pass the word. Don’t judge a cat by his ear-tip!
