FIVE✋🏻 Easter tips to keep your fur babies SAFE this coming Sunday! 🐣

🍫 Easter is typically the top day for chocolate intoxication calls, topping Christmas, Valentines Day and even Halloween! Why? Pets find Easter candy hidden around the house or yard, or get into unattended Easter baskets!

🍬 No Xylitol! This sweetener is found in candy, gum, and many baked goods and can be toxic to dogs and cats.

🥚Real or fake eggs can be harmful to your pet. Be sure to remember where you hide them, as spoiled eggs are a sure way to give anyone an upset tummy! Fake eggs may also cause intestinal blockages if ingested.

🧺 Basket grass may look very cute in your Easter basket, but for your pets it may look like a shiny treat! If swallowed, plastic grass can cause serious intestinal blockages. Instead, consider using tissue paper.

💐 True lilies and Daylilies are a concern for acute kidney failure in cats. 🐈 All homes with cats should be very careful with Easter lilies. Make sure your feline friends cannot access any part of the plant! 🙅🏼‍♀️

Our veterinary specialists come to us with extensive training in their areas of expertise and are equipped with the latest in medical technology to provide diagnostics and treatments in internal medicine, surgery and oncology.

About Oncology:

Cancer is a scary diagnosis, and options may feel limited. Our medical oncologists have the most up-to-date information to educate and guide pet owners on how to treat and manage different types of cancer. They can answer questions on prognosis, life expectancy, and how to maximize quality of life. Our goal is to achieve remission, slow cancer growth, and prevent local recurrence of cancer.

Cancer treatment in dogs and cats is well tolerated when compared to humans. Less than 10% of pets have side effects and most won’t lose their hair.

Forms of medical oncology treatment can include:
- Chemotherapy
- Precision medicine
- Targeted therapy
- Tumor vaccines
- Immunotherapy
- Electrochemotherapy
- Palliative care
- Clinical trials

About Internal Medicine:

Internal medicine involves the diagnosis and treatment of conditions impacting an animal’s internal organ systems, such as the gastrointestinal tract, endocrine system, liver, gallbladder, kidneys, urinary bladder, and respiratory tract. We are able to identify elusive diagnoses using advanced laboratory testing, such as CT, ultrasound, or endoscopy.

Our internal medicine specialist (also known as an internist) can manage acute and chronic diseases. While some diseases cannot be cured, we are equipped to optimize quality of life and balance multiple illnesses.
