Another Monday morning! Gina is asking for five more minutes in bed. She’s been a little under the weather battling her skin allergies and infection.
Dermatology visit last week started her on a new allergy treatment plan.
Hoping Gina starts to feel better soon.
For those of you that might remember Gina was slated for euthanasia at miami Dade for skin and aggression and we pulled her last minute.
She loves her foster family and is a total cuddly goofball. She still stranger danger and once her skin allergies are under control, she will then work with a behavioral trainer.

Bubba (formerly known as Pup X the eight-year-old that spent his entire life starved and abused) snoozing after a rough 24 hours. His foster family took him to MVS after spending the night not being able to breath. Bubba spent a few hours with oxygen therapy, then transferred to Town & Country Animal Hospital where he spent the remainder of the day getting his continued medical care and treatment. Around 10pm last night, Bubba was discharged into the care of his AMAZING foster family!
Bubba will never go back to the life he had before! We are committed to his continual care and it comes at a cost. The last 24 hrs of care resulted in over $1500 in vet bills.

We are closing our intake (not our rescue) until further notice! Once furever homes for some of our current dogs are found and fundraising, donations and fostering have increased, we will reopen for intake.
With very low funds and fosters, we are at max capacity. We still have 3 dogs (soon to be 4) in boarding at $20/day each.
Our vet bills are at around $15k (and growing due to the boarders).
Under our current care, there are puppies still needing to be spayed/neutered and vaccinnated. We have a pup needing Heartworm treatment and weekly iron shot, another needing entropion and a tail amputation, another with recurring ear issues, one with severe allegies and fear aggression…..and then we have Lil Miss Lola with her special needs.
In addition, it costs the rescue about $75-$100 a month on food and supplies alone to care for EACH of the dogs (we currently have 13 dogs) = $1300 a month.
3 (soon to be 4) of those 13 dogs have no fosters so that’s an additional $600 per dog per month in boarding.
And I am not the only rescue feeling this; we all are!
I want to put into perspective for all commenters that think it’s very easy for a rescue to just take in dogs.
Rescues need more help from the public at large to continue rescuing.

Today Lola turns 2! She enjoyed her birthday by digging a hole and living her to the fullest every day doing what dogs do and just being Lola!We love Lola to pieces and our goal for her birthday was to find her forever home and or long-term foster that meet her needs! Very disheartening that today she turns two and I have not been able to find that for her.I pulled Lola from #miamidadeanimalservices in June 2024… she may have possibly ended up euthanized given she was sight and hearing impaired, along with vestibular disorder; the seizures came later thankfully since seizures in a shelter would’ve made her a euthanasia candidate for sure (please no digressing and bashing MDAS; that’s not what this post is about).When Lola came into our rescue in June 2024, she was in boarding for the first month since we had no foster for her. She developed seizures while boarding and my family and I began personally fostering Lola in July 2024. We have come to not only love Lil Miss Lola, but also enjoy appreciate her differently-abled self. She is not a dog to feel sorry for. She is not to be looked at as a disabled dog that lives a meek little existence…Lola is far from that! One can’t help but smile when you see Lola or hear one of her crazy stories or see her little quirks or antics. We are amazed how she can hunt, chase and catch lizards in the backyard, and yet run right past you and misses you completely! Everyone that meets Lola is amazed by how high functioning and smart she is (I wane to take a moment a brag how Lola goes through Level 3 interactive puzzle feeders within minutes and thank @danceswithdogs for developing a training plan and cues for Lola). I want everyone to understand that while my family and I will always be dedicated to giving Lola the best care and lots of love, we are not the right family for her.
