Fido and Fireworks don't mix. πŸŽ†

More pets get lost during 4th of July than any other time of year because of Firework related fear. The most important things you can do for your pet during this holiday include....

1. Keep pets indoors.
2. Update microchip information/get your pets microchipped.
3. Turn on the radio or television & provide toys during fireworks.
4. Walk your dog during daylight hours with a fitted harness or collar without a retractable leash.
5. Keep the blinds/curtains down.
6. Obtain a prescription for calming medications.

We are here to help. Contact us at (352) 466-0067 if you think your pet may need some Fear Free approaches this summer.

Reminder from the Gainesville Rabbit Rescue and from our rabbit savvy friends, that animals do not make great Easter gifts. Though they may be cute when they're small, chicks and babies rabbits grow into big responsibilities and are typically ignored by children once the excitement wears off. Rabbits are the 3rd most common animal in shelters, after dogs and cats, and shelters see a spike in surrendered and loose rabbits shortly after Easter each year. If you're interested in having a rabbit as a pet, please visit the Gainesville Rabbit Rescue and view their selection of spayed/neutered rabbits ready for adoption year round.

As Easter approaches we want to remind everyone that bunnies are wonderful pets, NOT gifts! Consider giving candy or a stuffed animal instead this year. 🐰

Have You Seen This Bug? Perhaps in your woodpile or in your home?

Come to Chagas Disease Outreach hosted by Dr. Beatty and his team in the Micanopy Animal Hospital lobby, Monday April 14th from 8am - 1pm for World Chagas Day.

Known as the β€œsilent and silenced disease”, it can effect both you and your pet. Approximately 6-7 million people are infected with Chagas disease worldwide with 12,000 deaths every year. Sadly, the Kissing Bug and the Chagas Disease have been confirmed in Micanopy.

Come learn how to keep yourself and your pets safe!
If you find a Kissing Bug, DO NOT touch it, as they spread the Chagas Disease through bites. Try to capture the bug in an empty bottle or bag (best with rubbing alcohol) and bring the bug to Micanopy Animal Hopsital.

For questions, call (352) 466-0067.
We look forward to seeing you! No appointment needed.
