“Meet Charlie” Posted by M St.Laurent
Charles "Charlie" Young is the founder of Four Legged Angels , a non-profit dedicated to rescuing puppies from last-chance shelters and pairing them with Veterans and First Responders. This mission is deeply personal to Charlie, who devotes his time, energy, and all his days off to this cause, which is so near and dear to his heart. Together with the recipients, he helps train these puppies to become skilled service, therapy, and comfort dogs—at no cost to them—ensuring that these heroes receive the support, companionship, and healing they deserve.
Today Charlie and his dedicated team of volunteers joined Swansea VFW for their first annual walk to support veteran su***de. Pictured below are the dedicated Therapy Dogs he continues to train in his spare time to ensure all those who they come in contact with enjoy the love and support they provide.
Beyond his work with Four Legged Angels, Charlie is the owner and head K-9 trainer at Professional Canine Services and one of the top canine trainers in Massachusetts. With 20 years of experience at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office, including 11 years with the Massachusetts State Police Narcotics Unit/District Attorney's Office, he has been a key player in numerous local, state, and federal narcotics cases.
A certified K-9 trainer, Charlie completed an intensive 8-month training academy and one of the top K-9 Decoy training programs in the country. He has trained and certified over 140 Law Enforcement K-9 teams in specialties such as Narcotics, Firearms/Ballistics, Cell Phones, Patrol/Apprehension, and Search & Rescue. As an American Kennel Club evaluator, he assesses dogs for programs like the Canine Good Citizen and the A.K.C. Trick Dog Test.
