Meet your Taxidermist! For all of you newcomers to the page, I figured I’d introduce myself and answer some common Q&A!

My name is Andrew Gilman and I have been running CCBW since December of 2019! I have been doing skulls for 7 years and decided in college to start doing them on the side while going to school. After 5 years of opening my doors, I now do over 100 skulls a year and serve as one of the largest skull cleaners in southern New England. When I am not cleaning skulls I work full time in Finance for an Aerospace Engineeering company and spend time with my GSP, Maggie. Just like many of you my passions lie in big game,waterfowl, upland and predator hunting, as well as fly fishing and hiking. Loving every minute of this crazy journey!

A gentle reminder that score is not everything. A lot of people don’t realize how much antler it actually takes to make a 140, or even a 130. Social media can warp peoples (especially newer hunters) perception on “trophy’s”…. I scored my Alberta buck to make this point. This is my biggest buck to date, and I am over the moon to be putting him on the wall. He green scored 110 4/8” and if he had brows, he easily would’ve been in the 120s. At the end of the day, hunting is about filling your freezer and making lifelong memories. I work endlessly every year to preserve everyone’s trophy’s no matter the size because every deer is a trophy! Anyone who disagrees is hunting for the wrong reasons.

This includes the surrounding states of New York and Pennsylvania!!! Please read up on the laws before you decide to bring your trophy home. Processors and taxidermists will turn you away. Not only is it unsafe for deer but it is also HIGHLY ILLEGAL.

Get those heads to me asap or your wife will have to look at it every time she opens your deep freezer for the next 3 weeks!

People always ask how I get them so clean… The truth is, my skulls have come a long way over the last 5 years and they have gotten better every season. After thousands of hours and nearly 1000 skulls cleaned, I am very proud of the product I am sending out the door and I am always trying to improve. We’re already ahead of this time last year by almost 20%. Let’s get after it!

Do you guys ever wonder what happens to your deer after being dropped off? They are held in cold storage till it’s their turn. The next step, is shown in this time laps. All deer go through a standard “skin and trim” by hand till most of the loose meat and goo is gone. After this comes the cleaning and whitening process!
