Week late Weekly Wednesday!
Unfortunately not many pictures from this show night as mini show #6 tried to kick our butt, but we first were saved by Amazing Grace, who lent us a girth when we were in a pinch. Then went on to fan pulling his shoe in warm up š¤¦āāļø (oh F***y) and it didnāt stop there! Our next walk troters pony decided the announcer was scary, and took an unfortunate swim in the only puddle in the ring, (but hey thatās part of riding). Our rider, then went on to get right back in the ring, and ride her hardest (as she was covered in mud) she managed to pull a second and third in her large class and show off that determination!
We are so proud of how far all of our riders have come. Both in and out of the show ring, it really takes a village and ours is certainly one that doesnāt give up!
Weekly Wednesday twofer!
As last week slipt away from us with Marissa prepping to head to NY we forgot to post the kids at the show so we will add there pictures in below! But this week just like last the kids rocked there classes, each week is getting better then the last, and is leaving the kids more confident every time they step into the ring! We had a minor bobble with a pony leaving us one short and in need of one for costume, but Freedom Gate Farm came to the rescue and let us borrow there very special belle! All kids had a blast in costume and they all went home with the biggest smiles! Thank you to our older kids for stepping in and helping with the lead line while we had behind the scene baby horse mishaps, learning every stride we take!
What is an Event horse?
I get this question all the time from none horse people. So this morning while I was on my tractor mowing I thought about my answer. (mowing is when I do my best thinking and solve all the problems of the world.) So here is what I came up with. Imagine you are an elite athlete and the sport you compete in has three phases which you have to complete to get one prize. On the first day you dress in a fancy outfit and you perform an ice skating routine in front of a panel of judges. You have to be flawless, accurate, relaxed and you need to make it look easy. Then on the following day you need to complete an obstacle course that is possibly life threatening and taxes your strength, endurance and mental abilities to their limits and oh ya, you are carrying someone on your back while you do all this. If you manage to accomplish all this unscathed You then have one more obstacle to overcome, well really 12 to 15 more obstacles and before you do that you have to prove to your doctor that you are not sore or affected by the previous two days. You then get to attempt another obstacle course somewhat like the day before, but not exactly. This one is not as dangerous but if you show any weakness from your prior efforts and you jump a foot or two early or late or hang one toe an inch low you may accumulate faults that put you out of the running. You do all this despite the fact that the only thing you really get out of it is a pat on the neck and an occasional āGood Jobā Iād say an Event Horse is an amazing athlete and we all need to realize what we ask them to do for us every day.

Weekly Wednesday! The kids rocked there classes at the brigs mini show! Everyone put in great affective rides and went to bed with big smiles! They dappled In the command class which they all had a blast doing! Your village is only as strong as its team work and these kids sure put it in! Everytime these kids step into the ring they are there to learn some and boy have they started to be able to pick up little details throughout their ride! Weāre not here for the ribbions but to learn from every stride they ride! So proud of team NBS! Thank you Briggs and JoJo for putting on a great little series!

A long over due update but we now have the majority of the girls pictured (missing a few) these kids rode awesome last week at Briggs! We had a slight delay with the storm but they didnāt let it throw them off! Weāre here to just have fun in a different environment not to worry about the ribbons! And each week these kids do exactly that!

We tell each one of our kids that weāre not here for the ribbon but to just have fun! These kids rocked there classes and took the ring by storm! (Meaning we ended up having a split class for our walk troters) The smiles,laughter,memories made is why we do this! So proud of team NBS!

The Newbie show was a huge success! Youād never guess it was these kids first time ever in a show ring! The classe ranged from lead line having 9kids total to the walk trot having 12! What a day! We are so proud of everyone! Way to sweep the ring girls! Thank you Briggs for a great day!

Itās I spy weekend! Now that this long āvacationā filled week that involved horse shows, and of course lessons we can finally catch up! Marissa and lefty are back from VT where they spent there beginning of there weekend soaking wet, the other teo days gmha did a great job rearranging the schedule and making it all flow! Although it wasnāt the weekend they hoped for, they both come home safe and sound awaiting another day!
Weekly Wednesday! Week 7 you knocked it all out of the park! What a way to end the mini show season for these kids! Everyone had super flat rides! We even end with a newbie in the show ring! To wrap up the night we took 3 boys who have either sat on a horse at a fair, was on one 7 yrs ago, and one that had never been on before, theses boys and there family helped make these shows run as smoothly as possible with all these kids. It certainly takes a village to make this all happen and boy what a special one we have! We are so proud of how far all of these riders have come in and out of the show ring! Each show has been a learning curve for each kid but hey weāre learning every stride!
A touch behind on our updates, but on Sunday we took on the HRC show, everyone did a great job and had strong rides! Each and everyone of them came out of the ring smiling! Thatās why weāre there, not for the ribbons but for those smiles. It truly takes a village and boy have we built a pretty amazing one! Thank you to our nbs riders and family for allowing us to take you on this journey!
