Meet Spritz! He is our blue lynx mitted male.

This guy is a gem! Super sweet and docile. He keeps us laughing with his funny antics and laid back, “cool guy” personality. He loves spending time on the deck watching the birds from my lap or snuggled up on my shoulder.

🚩How to spot an Unethical Breeder🚩

For the sake of discussion, let’s consider that a “backyard breeder” (BYB) and/or an unethical breeder is someone breeding WITHOUT proper education, ethics, transparency, health testing, genetic testing, mentorship, or genuine concern for improving and protecting their breed.

A BYB or unethical breeder is often focused more on convenience, money, trends, or pumping out kittens/puppies than preservation of the breed, health, and responsibility.

What “signs” might indicate that a breeder is a backyard breeder or unethical breeder?⬇️

A. They do NOT do breed associated health testing or genetic testing.

B. They do not spay and neuter their kittens as required by the cat registry they are associated with.

C. They have little to no knowledge of feline genetics.

D. Their cats are sickly and malnourished.

E. They do not register their kittens

F. They do not provide contracts.

G. They cannot provide reviews from other breeders, customers, or a vet.

H. They do not breed to the show standard.

I. They market their kittens for substantially less or significantly more claiming they are breeding “rare” kittens.

J. They are inaccessible or uncommunicative. Breeders should WANT to get to know the families who will be adopting their fur babies.
