Throughout this holiday season, we are accepting donations to benefit our local Paws Animal Shelter. Additionally, our staff will be making monetary donations to dress down on Fridays.

Please feel free to drop off food, litter or other new/gently used pet supplies during our regular business hours and place them in the bin located in our lobby. Thank you!

Thurston Dale DVM, the founder of Ridge Animal Hospital and the co-founder of Wright’s Corners Animal Care Center passed away earlier this week.

On April 30, 1965, Thurston & Maryellen Dale along with two year old Christopher, two cats and an English Cocker dog moved to Medina, New York, from a two year internship in Poughkeepsie. They moved the majority of their belongings, including cages, tables and various veterinary supplies on an open hay truck. On May 1st Thurston officially opened the Ridge Animal Hospital at 10307 Ridge Road, Medina, New York. (from the History of Ridge Animal Hospital written by Thurston Dale)

From those humble beginnings, Ridge Animal Hospital developed and grew over the years. The current location of the practice on Stone Rd. was opened in 1978. Later, Wright’s Corners Animal Care Center opened in 1995 and Maplewood Veterinary Associates was created in 2006.

Dr. Dale came to work every day with a passion and love for the pets under his care as well as the clients who brought them in to see him. Even after his retirement in 2007 he would continue to check in to say hi and ask how the practice and its clients and patients were doing. And we still have long time clients who enquire about Dr Dale whenever they come in with their pets. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed!
