🌟 Jabbo's Journey: A Brave Little Fighter 🌟

Yesterday was a big day for our sweet boy, Jabbo. He underwent surgery this morning to repair two fistulas and was also neutered. It wasn't an easy day for him, but Jabbo is a true trooper! 🐾❤️

He is now resting comfortably, or at least as comfortably as one can after such a major procedure. His resilience and strength continue to inspire us all.

Please keep Jabbo in your thoughts as he begins his recovery. 🙏💕

🎉 Happy Adoption Day for Bluey and Socks! 🎉

We're overjoyed to share the wonderful news that Bluey and Socks have found their forever homes—together! 🥰

It all started when Rebecca, who works for Nationwide Pet Insurance, and Frank saw a picture of Socks in a team chat when he was just a few days old. (My son works there and was spreading happy puppy pictures!) Rebecca knew instantly that this little guy was meant to complete their family, especially since they had recently rescued Jade, a beautiful dog from the Korean dog meat market. Jade needed a companion, and Socks was the perfect fit. 💖

But the story doesn't end there! Rebecca's sister fell in love with Bluey and decided to bring him into their family. Now, these two adorable pups, Bluey and Socks, will not only have loving homes but also the joy of growing up together as part of a wonderful extended family. 🐾

A huge thank you to Rebecca and Frank for opening your hearts and homes to these little guys. We're thrilled that Bluey and Socks will be in each other's lives forever, sharing adventures and love every step of the way.

Meet Rudy: Your New Best Friend (and Professional Cuddle Expert)!

Rudy may have had a minor altercation with a car (don’t worry, it was a mere graze, and he’s bounced back like a champ!), but that just makes him even more resilient—and frankly, a little more impressive. Who doesn’t love a dog with a story, right?

🐾 Spa Day for Sparkles' Puppies! 🐾

Today is a special day for two of Sparkles' adorable puppies—they're getting ready to meet their forever families! 🥰 To prepare for their big moment, they're being treated to a luxurious spa day, complete with their very first bath. 🛁✨

Just look at how cute they are, all fluffy and fresh! They absolutely loved the experience, and we couldn’t resist snapping a few photos to share with you. These little bundles of joy are now looking and smelling their best as they get ready to start their new life.

Update on Jabbo – Keep Him in Your Prayers 🙏

We wanted to share an update on sweet Jabbo, who continues to need medical care. Unfortunately, his fistulas are not healing as we had hoped, and he is scheduled for another medical procedure tomorrow. Please keep Jabbo in your thoughts and prayers as we strive to get him on the road to recovery.

For those who might not know Jabbo's story, he is a 12-year-old, 7 lb Chihuahua who came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue under heartbreaking circumstances. He arrived in bad shape, most likely an owner surrender, with a belly band and urine scalding around his body. Despite his rough past, Jabbo is a sweet boy, proving to be far from the typical Chihuahua stereotype. He also has significant dental issues that we will be addressing once the fistulas are closed up.

Our sweet Sparkles is doing a fantastic job as a mom, but she's definitely ready for an empty nest! 🐾 This week, her new mom came to visit, showering her with love—and even giving some affection to Bingo too. Speaking of Bingo, we're thinking of renaming her "Roomba" after her funny escapades last week. 😂

With Sock and Bingo on their way to finding forever homes, it won’t be long before Sparkles gets to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Sparkles has been such a wonderful mom, and now it's time for her to be pampered and loved in her own forever home. 💖

Fluffy recently visited the vet and is now up to date on his shots. However, to get him fully ready for his forever home, he needs a dental procedure to ensure his mouth is healthy and pain-free.

🐾 Meet Bluey: The Tiny Adventurer in Need of a Cozy Forever Home! 🐾

Hey there, world! It’s me, Bluey, the cutest 8-week-old pup you’ve ever laid eyes on. 🐶 My siblings and mom have already found their forever homes, and now it’s my turn to shine!

🎉 Year-End Recap: 2024 at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue 🎉

As 2024 comes to a close, we want to take a moment to reflect on an incredible year at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue. We started the year with 39 senior pups in our care and welcomed 35 additional dogs throughout the year. Thanks to the support of our amazing community, 19 dogs found their forever homes this year, and while we sadly said goodbye to 7 beloved pups, we are grateful for the love and care they received in their final days.

Running this rescue is no small feat, and in 2024, we spent about $80,000 on medical care, food, cleaning supplies, beds, and more to provide for our dogs. Our biggest expenses, as always, were medical bills, ensuring each dog gets the care they need. It's important to note that no one at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue is compensated for their time—our team is entirely volunteer-based, driven by love and dedication to these wonderful animals.

What do we need for 2025?

Foster Homes: We need more loving homes to foster our pups while they await adoption.
Adopters: We’re always looking for forever homes for our seniors.

🐾 Welcome Sweet Lola to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue 🐾

Meet Lola, a 14-year-old angel who recently came to us from the Nash County Shelter. Despite everything she’s been through, Lola is incredibly sweet and gentle. She is blind and deaf and has Spondylosis, a painful condition affecting her spine.

Our mission is to give Lola all the love she deserves in her golden years. She will have:
💖 A comfy bed to rest her tired body
💊 Pain medication to ease her discomfort
🐶 A safe and caring environment where she knows only kindness

Lola is just one of the many dogs who need a loving home. Since Christmas, we’ve welcomed five new pups into our care, and this Sunday, we will bring in Maggie, making six.

🌟 Urgent Help Needed to Save Maggie! 🌟

We have been contacted about a sweet senior Shih Tzu mix named Maggie, who desperately needs our help. Maggie’s story is absolutely heartbreaking:

After her loving owner passed away, Maggie’s life was turned upside down. Her owner’s son inherited both the house and Maggie but shockingly abandoned her. He came to the house months ago, let Maggie outside, and never returned. Maggie was left to fend for herself, confused, frightened, and alone.

Thankfully, a kind rescuer found Maggie just in time and has been caring for her as best as possible. This 10-12-year-old little lady has endured so much:

Cataracts, Cherry Eye, and Severe Eye Infections
Arthritis
Severe Dental Disease, with most of her teeth either missing or rotting
Deafness and Anxiety, making her fearful and easily startled
Severe Neglect, including matted fur causing skin injuries, long nails that made walking painful, and a horrific flea infestation
💔 Maggie trembles when touched, runs in fear, and needs a calm, loving environment to begin healing. She deserves a chance to know love and safety again.

The rescuer will be driving Maggie from Western North Carolina to us this Sunday, and we at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue are ready to bring her into our care. We will provide her with the medical attention, comfort, and love she so desperately needs. But we can’t do it alone.

🦴 Fluffy is a 9-year-old, 12-pound Terrier/Poodle mix who has had quite the journey. Found as a stray and brought to the shelter, he arrived severely matted, so much so that we had to shave him completely—but now he’s feeling much better! Fluffy is an absolute sweetheart who loves to snuggle on your lap and soak up all the love he can get. He’ll be heading to the vet soon for a wellness exam, dental work, and any additional care he may need.

🦴 Rudy is a 9-year-old, 9-pound Chihuahua mix with a heart full of love. This little guy may have been grazed by a car, as he arrived with mild abrasions, but thankfully, he’s doing well! Rudy is gentle, affectionate, and a total lovebug. Like Fluffy, he’ll be visiting the vet for a checkup, dental care, and any other treatments to ensure he’s in tip-top shape.

Both of these sweet seniors are settling in beautifully, and we can’t wait to see them thrive. She’s settling in beautifully with her new fur brothers and sisters and is surrounded by love and care. A huge thank-you to Bill and Leslie for opening up your heart and home to Coco. Your kindness means the world, and we know Coco will be so happy in your loving family. 💖 Fosters like Leslie are the backbone of what we do at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue. 🐾 Welcome to the Zoomie Club! 🐾 Swiffer and Darcy have officially landed at Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue, and let’s just say—they’ve brought ALL the energy with them! 💥 These two little dynamos have been zooming around like it’s their full-time job 🏃‍♀️💨! Swiffer (aka "Fluffy Tornado") is showing off her fresh post-spa look, racing from one end of the yard to the other like she’s got a runway to conquer! 🐩✨ And then there’s Darcy, our 9 lb chihuahua firecracker, proving that a healed leg can’t slow her down! She’s been zooming circles around everyone, leaving us all in awe of her boundless energy and adorable speed! 🏎️💕 These girls are settling in beautifully, but they’re on the lookout for their forever or foster homes where they can continue their zoomie routines. They spent their day adding protective barriers and enhancements to Princess' ramp, ensuring that this sweet girl will never have another tumble. Now, Princess can navigate her world safely, thanks to their dedication and love. 💪💖 Check out the beautiful work they did to make her life easier! It’s this level of care and commitment that makes our rescue family so special.
