❓Do you know what Dalmatians and whale sharks have in common?

⭐ Both are covered with spots! While dalmatian spots are black, whale shark spots are white. Researchers have discovered that whale shark patterns are unique like human fingerprints, making it possible to identify individual sharks. By taking photos and cataloging them, the World Wildlife Federation has identified 458 different whale sharks in the Philippines. The whale shark is the largest shark and fish and are found in any tropical temperature ocean! 🖤🤍

🐾 Theodore wants to remind everyone that while sharks may be apex predators, they do play a critical role in ocean ecosystems. We need them! They are a key part of the health of our oceans and climate too. And if you're spooked by sharks, remember you're more likely to be killed by a falling coconut than a shark! 🦈🥥 In fact, The Australian Institute of Marine Science reported that worldwide there are about 10 deaths attributed to shark attacks but around 150 deaths worldwide caused by falling coconuts! Theodore is planning to be careful under coconut palms! 🌴🥥

Miss Oreo represents the cookie perfectly with her sweetness! 🐾 She has never needed a PR campaign to win people over like sharks did due to their bady guy image in pop culture. Shark Week began highlighting the magnificence, strength, and importance of this typically feared creature. 🦈 This is now the 36th year of Shark Week education! When Shark Week debuted in 1988, Dr. Beste was celebrating his 6th year of his practice here in Middletown, Delaware and we are now in our 42nd year serving and educating our community! 🥼🩺❤️

Benji is celebrating shark week with our grooming team and learned this fun fact: Only around 30 of the nearly 500 different species of sharks have been reported to ever bite a human. 🦈 Benji is a good dog and thinks biting humans is just ridiculous.🐾 But if he's out in the water he plans to avoid tiger, white and bull sharks in case those bitey-ist shark types also enjoy nibbling adorable puppies as well. 🐾

Taking care of your pet's teeth will lead to a healthier longer life. Cavities, decay, and gum disease can lead to infection, heart disease, and other illnesses. But guess who doesn't have to worry about cavities? Sharks! 🐋 Their teeth naturally contain fluoride which prevents them from developing cavities. Plus with multiple rows and replacement teeth available, sharks are truly meant for ripping and tearing food, even though our friend the canine has our big pointy teeth named after them! 🐕

Speak! Woof! Good dog! 🐾 While our pets have the ability to vocalize due to vocal cords or folds just like humans have, this shark week we're here to say that sharks don't say anything! Nada! 🦈 They are silent except for perhaps the swish of a fin. Many other marine animals have varying ways to vocalize such as the famous chatter of a dolphin 🐬 or the song of a whale. 🐋

☀️🌡️It's been changed from an advisory to a WARNING through Sunday night at 8pm with extreme temps and humidity that combine to make our heat index of 107! ⚠️ Pavement, cars, and being out too long are dangerous to our pets and even us. Stay hydrated and provide ways to keep all paws cool too. Heat related illnesses are preventable. Be smart and stay safe! 🐾
