The Humane Society of Middletown was founded in 1959 by a handful of people with big hearts and small purses. We are a privately run animal shelter that is funded ONLY through the generosity of our supporters. We DO NOT receive any funding or support from the Humane Society of the United States. We are a no-kill facility. Our dedicated staff works hard every day to ensure that the animals in our c

are receive the best care that we can afford. We work to meet each and every animal’s nutritional, medical, and social needs. Low cost private and group cremation services for beloved pets are available to the general public. Please call the shelter for more information.

Walnut is a very well behaved young man. Walnut was adopted and returned a week later because someone in the home was allergic. Walnut is inserted 1 yr old, well behaved, loves other dogs and os a people pleaser. Walnut knows basic commands and would make a great addition to any home. Olivia is a 3 month old newfie mix. This 20lb lady will be large when full grown. Olivia arrived at our shelter as a single pup so we aren't sure if she had any siblings. Olivia is full of love and sweetness so she was definitely well cared for. Olivia just wants to please her humans.

Frito is a beautiful and sweet little 3yr old, 9lb, chihuahua mix. This little guy was found running the streets in Sullivan County and has not been claimed by his humans 😔.

"The Animals" are a beautiful group of 3 month old Shepherd mix pups
We have 5 female and 3 male puppies. All have age appropriate vaccinations, will be spayed/neutered, microchipped and will be current on heartworm and F&T prevention. If you are ready to open your heart and home to a puppy, look no further. These guys are a little shy and very sweet.

Sammy needs your help. Sammy is an amazing Great Pyrenees, he is ex-large in size, sweet and friendly with humans. Sammy is learning some manners because people in his past allowed him to jump up. Sammy's biggest issue is he MUST be your "one and only". Sammy does not like other animals and must be in an environment where he has room to run and explore. Sammy loves to be outside and needs an owner who will make sure he gets plenty of both indoor and outdoor living.
Sammy grew up with children and would do best with kids 7+ just because of his size.
Sammy would make a great guard dog for someone living secluded.

Bailey is an 8 month old treeing walker coonhound mix. You wouldn't know she is a hound dog by her calm demeanor. Bailey walls well on a leash, is kennel trained and wouldn't take long at all to housebreak. Bailey likes other dogs and can be cat tested if necessary.

June was picked up by animal control almost 2 months ago and hasn't been claimed. June is a great girl, loves everyone and is waiting to find a forever home. June walks well on a leash, has amazing manners and know basic commands. If I had to guess, I would think she is probably house broken too. June is approximately 4-5 yrs old. Meet Millie, she is Lily's sister who was adopted today. Millie needed entropian surgery on her eye for an inverted eye lid. Millie did great after surgery and is recovering nicely
Millie is approximately 4-5 months old. Millie is some sort of bully mix and is friendly and outgoing. Millie will probably be 60ish lbs when full grown.
Millie is now spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm and F&T prevention.

We wanted to thank our wonderful community for all the puppy food donations, Gunter (pup) thanks you too. We recently shared a post of the almost 20 pups we currently have with their moms and needed help with puppy food. Well, our WONDERFUL community answered our prayers and sent so many donations.
