The Humane Society of Middletown was founded in 1959 by a handful of people with big hearts and small purses. We are a privately run animal shelter that is funded ONLY through the generosity of our supporters. We DO NOT receive any funding or support from the Humane Society of the United States. We are a no-kill facility. Our dedicated staff works hard every day to ensure that the animals in our c

Sleepy is 4 years old who was surrendered to us in February of last year ! He’s sweet loves butt scratches, gets along with other cats, and would love nothing more then to sit on your lap for some cuddles. Elvis is a 3ish yr old mix breed dog. Poor Elvis was found on Fair Oaks Rd in Middletown where his previous owner must have dumped him. The reason being is Elvis refused to leave the area and wouldn't go to anyone for food.
The amazing family decided to contact Buddah dog rescue and recovery. It didn't take Elvis long to go in thr trap for food.
Elvis definitely needs to find a forever family. Elvis doesn't like being in a shelter and would love nothing more that to have a forever home.

Romie is a 2-3 yr old, 7lb shih-tzu who arrived at our shelter this weekend when her owners became unable to care for her. Romie has vet records and has been extremely well cared for. We aren't sure if she is housebroken but she keeps her kennel clean. Romie just got her hair done by the wonderful ladies Flawless Paws Pet Grooming.
Romie is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting this sweet little lady, PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR COME TO THE SHELTER. Poor June, she is by far the SWEETEST dog. June was sadly stood up this weekend. June was scheduled to be adopted on Sunday but her people were a no show 😕. June is becoming increasingly sad waiting here for her forever family. June has a reduced adoption fee of only $50 because the rest was paid by someone rooting for her. June MUST be your one and only dog but seems to be ok with cats. June does ok with dogs outside but she can not live in a home with them.

This is Ollie, he came from a family in Delaware County N.Y. Ollie was the dad of 2 seperate litters of puppies, all of who lived in their yard.
Late last fall, a rescue reached out to us asking for help. We went up to Delaware County and rescued mom, dad and 9 puppies, along with a one year old from a previous litter. All except Ollie (Dad) got adopted. Ollie plays so well with other dogs but can not live with cats or small animals. Ollie has been at ur shelter for far too long and is starting to become depressed.
Can you please share Ollie so we can find him a perfect forever home. Ollie wants nothing more than to cuddle on the couch and go for long walks in warm weather. Ollie is 5-7 yrs old. Please help us find him a home he so desperately deserves.

Meet Elvis, this poor guy was running the streets of Middletown for almost 5 days in the bitter cold temperatures we had last week 😔.
Neighbors got together, fed him, tried to get him to come into their homes and stay warm but Elvis was in fright or flight mode and would not go to anyone.
The neighbors suspected Elvis was dumped by his owners and that's why he wouldn't leave the street.
Thanks to this wonderful community of people as well as Buddah dog rescue and recovery, who was brought in to trap him.
It didn't take long to get Elvis to be very interested in the food in the dog trap but he was definitely not happy after being caught.
Elvis barked and growled at everyone, he was so terrified. We put Elvis in our quarantine room and left food and water for him. We took our time with Elvis and within 72 hours, he was our best friend.
We want nothing more than for Elvis to find his forever home.
We are working on socializing Elvis as we have no idea where he came from or what he has been through.
We just got Elvis neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Meet Max, he is a 9lb, 3yr old chihuahua who came from a hoarding situation in Sullivan County. Max has lived with a senior woman for the last 5 months. Recently, she became unable to care for Max and when her family tried. Max didn't like the grandchildren. Max has been back with us for almost a week. Max definitely needs a strong (but kind) owner. He needs an owner who is the leader of the pack. Max does great with other dogs at our shelter and will make a great companion for the right person or family. Poor Mochi, she can't catch a break. She is a 1yr old, puggle mix. All of her siblings have been adopted except Mochi. She is a little shy but will warm up quickly. Mochi LOVES the people that work and volunteer at the shelter. She loves other dogs and can be with cats as well. Mochi just needs a chance. Mochi is full grown at just 27lbs and would make a great companion.

Loli's 10 week old pups are now available for adoption. All will be spayed, have age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped and will be on heartworm and F&T prevention. All will be medium (35-50 lbs) in size when full grown.
We believe Loli is a German Shepherd/lab mix. She is very sweet and her puppies have the same personality.

Adopted ❤️❤️❤️ ♥️Please share♥️ Thor is an amazing dog who needs a chance. Thor was brought into the local wallkill police dept, sadly, this boy was dumped and lived outside in the woods for several months. Finallu, a good samaritan trapped Thor and he was able to be brought inside where he could be warm and fed. Due to the many months of no human interaction or contact, Thor was fearful and gave most of the police officers a hard time. It took several months for them to be able to safely place Thor at our shelter. A few of us started feeding Thor and finally gained his trust. Thor was then adopted but sadly, his owner passed away and Thor came back to the shelter 😢. One day, a gentleman walked in claiming to be Thors original owner. He stated he worked too much and that's why it took him 6 months to come see Thor. Not that we would have allowed Thor back with someone who left him outdoors for months and never came looking for him but when he found out Thor was now neutered, he had no use for him and never came back. This is a plea for someone to give this beautiful 2-3 yr old Cane Corso a chance at a great home. Thor is good with other dogs and just needs a home to call his own.
