Sylvie has been away at camp TaylorMade Kennels LLC and in true Sylvie fashion, has been having a grand ol time lol. At the Dog Days of Summer Cluster in Batesville, MS, she was Winners b***h all 4 shows and Best of Winners 3 times. Sunday she won her first major! She is now at 6pts with a major and about halfway to her AKC Championship. Thank you Alexis Taylor Hectorne for taking on the party girl and making sure she looks her best 🥰

This dog…. He just continuously blows me away. His love of the ring is apparent at every show he attends. He LIVES for the attention and his quality is undeniable regardless of who is judging. He was I think the only special this week to be in the ribbons every show!

Bandit became the first Finnish Lapphund in the USA to win more than one National Specialty! He also won 2 of the other specialties and earned 2 AOM.

Amanda Shea, thank you for being at the end of his lead. Thank you for your support and friendship. Thank you for always believing in this special dog! Bandit certainly thinks you are the best chicken dispenser he could have ever asked for 🤣

Bandit’s son Trip (out of GCH Midnight Island Sugarok SweeTart “TuTu”) attended his first shows and you never would have known that they were! He walked away with 9 points and 2 majors towards his AKC championship with 2 Best in Puppy Sweeps, 2 RWD, 1 WD, 1 WD/BOW and Best Puppy in all 3 specialties that offered it. He is truly daddy’s son and had the best time playing show dog with Amanda. Trip is Major Pointed Midnight Island Stonecroft I Came To Dance and is owned by Cheryl and Amanda. Bred by myself and Linda Marden.

This will be one of 2 posts I make as otherwise it would just end up being one long winded post 😅

The 2024 FLCA National Specialty and the first New England Finnish Lapphund Club, Inc. Specialties are in the books! Firstly, I would like to thank all of those who worked tirelessly to put these shows together. I don’t want to forget tagging anyone, so just one big thank you to everyone involved! It ended up being a lovely time with happy people and a pretty location. You all should be proud of how it turned out!

Now on to my homebred dogs and their people… all of you who exhibited this week made me so incredibly proud. And every single one of my homebreds walked away from this weekend with recognition of their quality and presentation.

Annie Garwood and Bowie (CH Lecibsin Suoritus “Tori” x GCH Sugarok Lovin Midknight To First Light “Mindy”) earned a WD/BOW to complete his AKC Championship! I love how happy Bowie is and you both have done so well together, I’m so proud!!!! He is now *CH* Midnight Island Sugarok Us And The Rainbow and is the fourth champion from that litter! -co bred with Linda Marden

Ian Beck and Foster (CH Sugarok Epic Victory Lane “Denny” x GCH Sugarok Midnight In The Garden “Willow”) looked absolutely fabulous all week and walked away with 2 award of merits and a BOS/BOBOH! The hard work and dedication you and RJ Rautio put in is inspirational and truly the sky is the limit for you guys. I have no doubt that you will continue to succeed in all that you decide to do! Foster is GCHB Midnight Island Yo Banana Boy! Co bred with Daniel Nash

Clarissa McInturf sent me sassy pants Dot (Major Pointed Wyntre Rocket Man To Midnight Island “Elton” x CH Midnight Island Sugarok Up 2 Snow Good “Vixen”) and she did fabulously in the almost 2wks she had with me! She earned her first major a couple of weekends ago then this past week won a Best in Puppy Sweeps, 2 Best Opposite in Puppy Sweeps, 2 WB, 1 BOS over lovely girl specials and 2 RWB. Dot is not quite 8 months old and walks away with 13pts and 3 majors towards her AKC CH! She is Major Pointed Midnight Island’s Little Bit of Moonshot.

Ivan (Lecibsin Tanner x CH Sugarok Field Of Glory “Glory”) was consistently pulled out for consideration in winners at the 4 shows he competed in earning himself 2 RWD and 1 WD/BOW to complete his AKC Championship! Ivan has only been to 4 show weekends as he does not live with me with me and finished with FOUR major wins all from the bred by class! Thank you to his owners Dez Press and Kyle Press for graciously allowing me to borrow the handsome guy whenever I have asked. Ivan is *CH* Midnight Island Sugarok Til Valhalla and was co bred with Linda Marden.

Turkki (CH Lecibsin Suoritus “Tori” x GCH Sugarok Lovin Midknight To First Light “Mindy”) was shown by junior handler Sierra and they were probably the cutest pair in the ring! Turkki made many of the cuts and earned and AOM. Congrats to his owners Ariel Curtice and Liane Winslow and I hope I get to see him out more! Turkki is AKC CH Midnight Island Sugarok Poppin A Button and was co bred with Linda Marden.

This ended up being long anyway, but man am I proud of all these dogs!!!! Congratulations to all of the other winners and it truly was so nice to show with and against such great people and dogs!

Willow presented us with EIGHT little bugs today! All babies are strong and nursing well. Mama Willow is also doing great. 3 black boys, 3 brown boys and 2 black girls. All with tan points, at least 2 of the black puppies are wolfsable. Will see if there are any others as they grow 🥰

Bandit ends 2023 as the #1 Finnish Lapphund all systems! Bandit has only been shown selectively, a total of 38 times last year. He finished his campaign in March, then was shown once at Westminster where he won BOB for the third year in a row, one weekend in November for supported entries and one weekend in December. 36 BOBs and many group placements including a Best In Show! Very proud of this dog and all of his accomplishments.

2023 was overall a good year for Midnight Island. We had EIGHT new AKC champions (6 bred by), 1 new GCH and 1 new GCHB! We had one Icelandic Jr Ch! I am also very proud that two of our dogs have landed in the top 5 Finnish Lapphunds this year (MBIS MRBIS NBISS GCHG Lapinkaunis I Want It All “Bandit” and GCHB Midnight Island Yo Banana Boy “Foster”- thank you to his wonderful owners Ian and RJ of OwlCroft for believing in this young boy’s potential) Many other titles have been added by my wonderful puppy homes and many more are in the process of being earned. For a still developing kennel, this is something I am very proud of!

Next year, I have a few different goals for my dogs. I do have a few dogs I plan to finish their championships on, but my main focus for next year will be working on getting my feet wet in the rally ring and other avenues. So I will not be present in the conformation ring much next year. I also have some very exciting breeding plans for both lappies and Aussies.

Thank you so much to the breeders behind all of my dogs. Thank you to the stud owners who have allowed me to use your special boys. I have been blessed to be able to work with and continue to be able to work with exceptional lines and for that I am truly grateful. I would not be where I am or have my program headed in the direction it is without the trust these breeders have had in me.

Also thank you to all of my puppy owners for choosing me to be your breeder! Thank you for loving your dogs and thank you to those of you who compete and title your dogs! Without such wonderful homes, I wouldn’t be able to continue to have a program ❤️

And most importantly, thank you to my supportive partner. Without Dan, none of this would be possible - at least not easily 🥰
