Update: ADOPTED!

Shane’s story is a gentle reminder of the beauty in simple pleasures. At 13 years old, Shane is a sweet, soulful boy with a heart as big as his paws. Life has slowed him down, and his bones are a bit weary, making his steps a little shaky. But that doesn’t stop him from savoring every moment he has left—especially when it involves sniffing every blade of grass, every new scent, and every corner of his world.

Shane isn’t in a hurry, and he doesn’t ask for much. A cozy bed to rest his tired bones, a sunny spot to warm his fur, and the loving touch of a family who will cherish him for however long he has left. His gentle strolls and love of quiet moments make him the perfect companion for someone who understands the special kind of love a senior dog brings.

We don’t know how much time Shane has left, but what we do know is that he deserves to spend every day in comfort, with a family who will shower him with the kindness and care his old soul craves. Shane is ready to share his twilight years with someone who sees the beauty in the bond between a person and their senior dog.

If you feel your heart tugging at the thought of giving Shane the retirement home he deserves, please call us at (401) 846-8276 or visit our Animal Care and Adoption Center in Middletown, RI, to meet him. More information about Shane and adopting can also be found on our website at www.potterleague.org. Shane is waiting to meet the family who will make his remaining days his best days yet.

New Year, New Tricks?

If your pet could make a New Year’s resolution, what would it be? Maybe your cat resolves to be slightly less dramatic about mealtime, or your dog promises to improve their squirrel diplomacy. We want to hear your funniest, sweetest, or most ambitious resolutions for your furry friends—share them in the comments! Bonus points for photos of your four (or three)-legged goal-setters.

And speaking of resolutions, why not make 2025 the year you join the Potter League for Animals community? Whether it’s volunteering, fostering, attending our events, or finding new ways to help pets and people, we’d love to have you be part of the amazing things happening this year. Let’s make a difference together! Learn more at www.potterleague.org on how to get involved.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for our incredible friends at We’re Here For The Dogs. Tracy and her amazing team are nothing short of extraordinary, pouring their energy and love into supporting shelters and rescues across the state. Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of so many, our van was packed with donations collected from Giving Trees at businesses throughout Rhode Island.

These gifts of supplies are hope, kindness, and love wrapped up for animals who need them most. To Tracy, her team, and every single person who donated: THANK YOU. You’ve reminded us, yet again, of the incredible power of community and what we can accomplish together. We are beyond grateful.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We couldn’t do this without you. 🧡

Attention snack lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone in need of a loyal goofball sidekick!

Meet Romito—or as his friends like to call him: Romy, Dorito, Rito, Ro Ro… honestly, he’ll answer to just about anything if there’s a treat involved.

This dashing dude isn’t just a looker—he’s got brains and personality for days. Romito is smart enough to know “sit,” “down,” “high five,” and “touch,” but goofy enough to sometimes do them all at once because, well, why not? He’s the perfect mix of playful adventurer and silly companion, whether he’s romping around with his canine pals or making you laugh with his over-the-top antics.

Looking for a partner in crime for hikes, games of fetch, or exploring the great outdoors? Romito’s got his bags packed. Need a snuggle buddy who’ll remind you not to take life too seriously? Romito is so ready.

He’s sweet, fun, endlessly entertaining, and—frankly—he’s got a heart of gold wrapped up in one very handsome suit.

Ready to meet your new best friend? Call us at 401-846-8276 or stop by the Potter League’s Animal Care and Adoption Center in Middletown, RI, to meet Romito. For more information about adopting, visit www.potterleague.org.

Trust us: life with Romito? It’s just better.
