Meet our pet of the month, Dax Rockefeller!

Dax is a four month old, shaded cream, long hair mini daschund.

Dax loves rubbing his belly in the grass, eating bugs & other snacks, including his sister Andi’s green beans. He loves a long walk on the beach or sneaking a shoe for later 😉.

Dax fit right into his forever home and is loved by everyone he meets ❤️

Congratulations Dax on being HAH’s pet of August 🐶

If you're looking for a house FULL of love and animals, this home is for you.

11 dogs, 1 bird, 1 horse, and 1 steer keep this family on their toes at all times, whether it's giving all the pets or feeding everyone at once.

Kermit, who is a Mexican Yellow Double Yellow Head is 40+ years old. He is a talker, and will scream at you if you don't share whatever food you currently are eating.

Piper, a 20 year old Paint Horse, also loves to hold a conversation. Whenever she sees someone outside she has to make sure they come over and say hi.

The steer of the family is a 1.5 year old Holstein named Little Man. A good chin scratch will make Little Man appreciate you, but giving him a few horse treats will gain his love forever.

Now onto the 11 Golden Retrievers, who are all a little bit crazy (in all the best ways).
Samantha- 6.5 years old. The leader of the group who makes sure to keep everyone in check.
Gunner- 5 years old. A great hunter, but scared of storms.
Gypsy- 4 years old. Likes to help “groom” humans' hair to make them look their best.
Shelby- 4 years old. LOVES belly rubs, and will squint her eyes when talking to you.
Denver- 4 years old. The biggest snuggle bug and helps take care of the pack.
Dallas- 3 years old. Loves to just relax and hang out, but will give you a little boop if you don't pet him.
Sadie K- 3 years old. A sleep all day, only get up to eat kind of gal.
Aspen- 2.5 years old. Always wants love and will lay with her head under your chin.
Dakota- 2.5 years old. Always on the go and wanting to play with everyone.
Dutton-2 years old. Will stand on his back legs and hug you whenever he can.
Shyanne- 1 year old. The baby of the group who has her mom wrapped around her paw. She always wants to be around people.

All of the pups love to snack on ice, especially during the winter when they can get it fresh from the ground. When wanting to take a picture, all you have to say is “I need a count” and they will all stand still! Well kind of, to the best of their ability.

This month we have Kathleen and Minsi, the cat and dog duo. (Check out the last picture for a little surprise.💙)

Minsi is an 8 year old black lab who loves to say hi by nibbling on your ear! Kathleen is a 5 year old domestic shorthair who loves to sun bathe on the beach down by the lake.

Minsi is an active girl who is always outside running around and burning off her energy. When in the lake she loves to fish! 🐟 She hasn't caught anything yet, but with her strong willed personality, she will. When Minsi Moo is hungry, she will “growl” to let you know that she is ready to eat, sometimes when she's already had her dinner. When trying a new snack, she will throw it into the air and play with it before she eats it. She has to make sure it’s not only a good snack, but a good toy also.

Kathleen is an adventurous girl that loves to join her family, Minsi included, on hikes around the property. When it comes to food, Kathy will eat a lot, including her favorite snack, broccoli! 🥦She isn't always the most cuddly cat, but when she does want some love, she will sit on your chest and knead biscuits like it's her job.

And for the surprise… everyone meet Elizabeth Lou! 💜 the newest member of the Cline family!

This week for employee pets, we have a family full of L names!

Luna is a 4 year old American Bulldog who loves to give kisses. Lincoln, a 6 year old pit bull mix, gets super excited and digs his face into pillows to let you know! Loki, a 2 year old black domestic shorthair cat, always has something to say! And the baby of the group is Lotus, a 6 month old black and white domestic long haired cat. Lotus knows he is the baby and has made Luna his “mom”. 💜

Each one of these sweet animals have their own, individual personalities that shine through.

Lincoln loves going on hikes with his mom, no matter their length. On top of hiking, he loves to run! His favorite thing to do is run laps and jump over Luna if she gets in his way.

Luna loves toy time! As long as she has a toy and gets to play with a human, she is happy. If you aren't giving her enough attention, she will rest her face on top of yours to get it. When you see Luna, you will notice that 99.9% of the time her tongue is sticking out!

Loki is an indoor cat, but an outdoor kitty at heart. He has even been so excited to go outside that he broke the screen out of a few windows! Now, he has a stroller and a leash that allows him to explore the big green world! When Loki first came home, he was a spicy kitty that didn't want any attention. Once Lotus came into the house, he became a sour patch kid - sour and then sweet.🐈‍⬛

Lotus is the cuddler of the family. He will cuddle with any animal or human who allows him the love and attention. When it comes to animals, he will choose them over humans anyday! But he does sleep in the bed and cuddles up next to his humans every night. 🪷

Up next for employee pet appreciation, we have a crew of fluffy pets! 🐶🐱

When it comes to their given names, you will hardly ever hear them at home (unless middle names are also being used). Lauren has a few names for each pet that she uses instead. Augustus Elliot is mostly known as Gus, but Goose is used a lot! If you are trying to get Chevy’s attention, saying Chev Dog will do the trick. Charles Franklin is known as Charlie or Char Char. Gandalf the White is known mostly as Gandy or Mr. Sweetface. 💜

Augustus is a 6.5 year old Husky mix. Gus is the crazy one of the family, always on the go and keeping everyone on their toes. Playing with stuffed toys is so much fun, but only when it's almost bedtime. When it comes to being quiet, Gus has a very hard time. He loves to howl and make all the noise he can to get your attention.

Chevy is a 10 year old Siberian Husky. Chevy is an old man who still acts like a puppy when it's not nap time. His favorite thing in the entire world is to go for a truck ride, hence his name. Before Chevy and Gus became brothers, Chevy was a quiet dog. When Gus and him met, Chevy became vocal and now talks back and forth with Gus. Lauren loves it, and eggs them on by howling with them.

Charlie is a 5 year old orange domestic longhair. Charlie is one of the most loving and cuddly cats you will ever meet. As soon as you sit down on the couch, he is instantly on your lap wanting attention. He does think he is the only one allowed the love though, and will kick his brothers out of your lap to get to you.

Gandalf is a gray longhair kitty boy who is the baby of the family at 2 years old. Gandy became a part of the family when a coworker brought him into the clinic after he was found outside. Lauren could not let this adorable little boy go, so she brought him home! Gandy isn't the cuddliest cat, but when he does want some love, he squeezes his way under your blanket and lays on your lap.

Over the next few weeks we are going to be sharing the furry family members that live with the wonderful employees of Hart!

This week we have a couple of cuties to share with you!🌞

At Ana’s house, there are two cuddly love bugs! Stewie, a domestic shorthair and almost 10 years old!! And Apple, the sweetest 5 and a half year old house hippo.🐶🐱

Stewie has a special bond with his human brother. He will follow him all over the house and even lay on him while he plays video games. He loves to snuggle any chance he can get. He even sleeps on Ana’s pillow every night. But the cutest thing Stewie does is sleep with his paws covering his face.

Apple is a 65 pound lap dog and her family knows it. She is the best hiking buddy that Ana could have; she is always up for logging the miles. When it comes to playing, she loves tug of war. And you better believe she uses her big girl voice to try and win.

Apple and Stewie LOVE cheese! 🧀As soon as they see someone get cheese out of the fridge, they both come running. Stewie has become a beggar for food. He's always trying to steal whatever he can whenever anyone is cooking or eating.

Both Apple and Stewie are rescues and were found abandoned on the street. Apple came from Alabama where she was found with no littermates or mama. Stewie was found hit in the road - with a very “wonky” foot - when he was a kitten.❤️❤️

Who is ready for a Friday Feel Good story? ☀️

Remember the Adopt a Pet Christmas Tree on our counter during the holidays? Well, meet Ember!

A sweet 2 year old, deaf, female Pitbull that was featured on our tree. One of our clients saw Embers picture and arranged to meet her at the Barry County Animal Shelter.
She immediately fell in love with Ember and has opened her heart and a forever home to her.

You can tell from the pictures that ear kisses and face licks are Embers specialty. 🐶 Best of all, her new owner reports Ember is absolutely JOYFUL every day when she gets home from work.

Meet Bazz, the beehive sniffing dog! 🐶

American Foulbrood is a severe contagious disease of honeybees. It produces spores in a hive that are contagious for 40 years.
The recommended treatment option is to destroy any infected hive before it can spread to other hives.

Dogs like Bazz have now been trained to diagnose Foulbrood infected hives by scent, long before humans can diagnose it. This allows removal of infected hives, to keep bees healthy and on the job.

Look at his concentration. He takes his job VERY SERIOUSLY. 🐶🐝

Chester had collected 26 of them. Dr. Hart was able to get them all out in one big rolled up ball!
We are happy to report Chester did very well after his surgery!🐱

What’s your diagnosis⁉️

Chester, a 1.5yr old neutered male cat came in for an exam due to several days of poor appetite and vomiting.
Dr. Hart could clearly feel a hard, round structure in his abdomen.

Based on history, exam findings and the radiograph below, Dr. Hart took him to surgery. Any guesses on what he found?

Everybody at Hart Animal Hospital wants to wish you a joyous holiday season. We appreciate the opportunity to provide care to your beloved pets all year long. ♥️🎄

To celebrate the true spirit of the holiday, we have put up a small tree in our lobby that features dogs and cats currently up for adoption at Barry County Animal Shelter!

If you aren’t able to adopt, we are also accepting donations such as unopened food, treats and new toys. All donations will be delivered to the shelter by December 22nd to ensure each and every pet gets to enjoy a special holiday.🐶🐱
