Herd Spotlight! Meet Willow!
One of the Pinckard 5.
TWH Mare
Estimated to be in her mid to late teens, possibly early to mid 20s.
Willow would be best suited for a companion only home due to weak stifles and upward fixation of the patellas in both hindlimbs. No other health issues that we are aware of.
Very easy keeper.
Barefoot.
Middle of the herd.
Does well with both geldings and mares.

Magnolia Veterinary Services, LLC will be coming to the rescue on November 5 to give all of our horses vaccines and some extras for a few horses. Our vet bill will be close to $1,000.00. If you would like to donate towards this cost, you can donate by:

If you’d like to become a volunteer to help these two wild cats take care of our resident horses, please fill out this application. We would love to have you join our team!! We are looking for volunteers to help with:
🐴 daily feeding
🐴 cutting grass
🐴 grooming
🐴 organizing fundraisers
🐴 finish our fence
🐴 clean/organize our feed & tack rooms
We would also like to find someone that would like to plant and maintain flowers at our entrance gate. We definitely have something for anyone!

Herd Spotlight! Meet Calypso!
Calypso is a grade mare, aged around 10. She was rescued from a neglect situation but has rehabbed nicely! She is an easy keeper, barefoot, gets along with mares and geldings but does have a personality! She loves attention which is far from the feral red dragon she was when we rescued her!
She is available for adoption to someone that can continue her training at home. We will not be able to adopt her out to someone without horse experience. Adoptee must at least be advanced beginner. Calypso's adoption fee will cover all updated vetting, coggins, and 30 days of training. Volunteer Spotlight! Meet John!

When I was a child, my family had show horses. Being too young to show a horse, my experience with them was limited. As an adult, I sought out a connection with them. Bonding with a horse makes all of my pain fade away. The horses at the Wiregrass Horse Rescue and Sanctuary need me and I need them. Having a film background, I have decided to pursue a career as a horse videographer. My YouTube channel is Rural Underground, and features many aspects of rural lifestyle, in addition to horses.

6 yo OTTB gelding looking for a lower level or trail home. He is an absolute angel on the ground and under saddle & have previously given advanced beginner kids lessons. He has been out of work for some time so is considered green. Needs front shoes to stay comfortable if staying ridden. He is up to date on vaccines and coggins. He has not been trail ridden but likely will do fine. His brain is golden and he is super quiet! Owner is asking $2700.

We are taking in four horses over the weekend but due to sensitivity of this case, we cannot share photos or more information at this time. We do need your help! We will have all 4 vetted ASAP so we need help funding this. We also need:
Alfalfa cubes
Triple crown senior feed
Stall shavings
Square bales of hay

This past Saturday, some of the queens from Midland City and Dale County came out to help us around the rescue. These girls worked really hard!!! They helped us feed, groom horses, muck the arena and clean up around the barn. Thank you so much for your support!!

Volunteer Spotlight! Meet Kena!

I have volunteered at the Wiregrass Horse Rescue and sanctuary since February.
I had no prior experience with horses, just an interest and desire to try something new. The other volunteers, and the horses, were patient with me.
Since becoming a volunteer, the horses have helped me become more assertive and taught me about trust, patience, and compassion. This has helped me in my personal and professional life.
Being a volunteer is one of those things where you ask yourself, who’s helping who?
