The c**t got to visit with the lovely Mr Darcy for a supervised play session. Darcy was loving him until the c**t decided to try to nurse on Darcy....and then he wasn't so fond of him. 😅

For size reference, Darcy is about 16 hands, and the c**t is 5.5 months. 😬

There are very few things more rewarding than earning the trust of a horse.💖
The little guy is learning to halter and lead and he is ever so sweet about it. Still a little shy in general but he's slowly warming up. We'll get there!

Little guy is learning lots of things already! He had a ton of burs in his forelock and ears when he arrived, but we made some progress last night letting me scratch his head and ears and he let me pick all of them out of his forelock. The burs in the ears are pretty well stuck so those will have to wait for another day. He also learned how to drink from his auto waterer yesterday which was good to see.
I just love walking out of the house and seeing his little face out in the turnout! What a cutie!

Prepare yourselves for an onslaught of baby horse updates because this guy just joined the HILL FARMS family! He's got some (very) big shoes to fill since Darcy is basically my favorite creature on the planet. But this guy will eventually take over as my main mount when my older geldings are ready to be retired. For now he is just going to spend time growing and learning ground manners. He's a timid guy but he's very sweet and has handled everything with a fairly level head for his age.
I can't wait to see how he matures!
Here's to new adventures!

Also a huge thanks to Pony Express Feed and Transport of Michigan, LLC for helping get this guy home to us! Let's just say haltering and leading is not yet in his skillset, but they were awesome about it all. 😅

That being said, if anyone knows someone looking to sell a 3 (or maybe 4) horse slant load trailer I'm starting my search! I will look at bumper pulls or goosenecks. Prefer aluminum with a front tack or dressing room (no fixed rear tack). Send me a PM if you know anyone thinking about selling!

I got to visit this adorable clan of babies over the weekend. Aren't they gorgeous?! Such a friendly and curious bunch! I can't wait to see them all grown up and joining us on trail rides!

Little guy is learning so much already!

He loves to get dirty, so I've been grooming him daily lately. He wasn't so sure about the curry comb at first but he sure seems to be relaxing into it! Baby steps!

This is how we start our day. Practicing a few commands each morning helps reinforce good manners even as a little puppy. Treats are excellent motivators!

When you're just trying to water your garden but your kid is getting their summer on.

All of our horses get desensitized to herding deer. It's a frequent occurrence on our trail rides!

The kitties love following me out to the field. And I am loving the grass growing in back there! Dave was able to mow it for the first time. We will let it continue to grow for the rest of this growing season and fingers crossed next year we can have some horses out there! 🥰 I can't wait 😁
