Howl-A-Day Friends & Family, don't panic, but that perennial baddie Bordetella is spreading in our area. Local vets have been seeing lots of cases, and we're starting to see dogs with symptoms of the virus ourselves. The following is the best article we have ever found on the subject; it explains Bordetella in layman's terms, and answers all questions you may have. This virus is typically not dangerous for healthy dogs, but it is extremely contagious, and can develop into more serious issues such as pneumonia if not monitored.
Please read, and reach out to us if you still have questions.

Kennel cough is an infectious bronchitis of dogs characterized by a harsh, hacking cough. Usually a cough is very recognizable but it is important to be aware of another sound called a ?reverse sneeze.?

Happy Thanksgiving, Howl-A-Day Friends and Family, from our whole pack to yours! 💗
We are so grateful to love and be trusted with your best friends' care year 'round. Keep them healthy this season by checking what foods are safe for dogs before dispensing the leftovers (check the first comment below FYI)!
Howl-A-Day thanks you every day for being conscientious pet parents; we're here as your partners, always putting your pets' welfare first! Here's a few important reminders for the season:
-Fleas and ticks are still alive out there and falling off those deer and other wildlife into your yards 😳 so get your doggos on preventative meds ASAP!
-Upcoming freezing weather can be very dangerous for pets; educate yourself on what temps and length of time are safe for them to be out!
-Don't forget to keep your pets' vaccines updated, and to have your vet send them over to us; you never know when you may have an emergency trip, and Howl-A-Day 👉DOES NOT👈 make exceptions for shots required:
In order to visit us for grooming, daycare or boarding, ALL dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella (with the Bordetella vaccine given at least 7 full days before your visit!), ALL cats up-to-date on Rabies and Distemper, and make sure those records come our way; your veterinarian has multiple ways of reaching us with them.
We wish we could catch a glimpse of all your besties celebrating with you at home this season, but for those whose pets are boarding at HAD, we'll make their holidays the snuggliest, snackingest, most wonderful time of the year.
