Today didn’t go as planned! Our medical foster who took sweet baby Opal, the kitten who was hit by a car and had extensive surgeries to repair the damage had to rush her to our vet early this morning.

She had stopped eating, was acting lethargic and having trouble using the litter box. A concern with injuries like hers is bowel compaction and that is exactly what was happening. Her foster is well versed in colon problems as she’s foster failed a cat with a similar condition and she knew Opal needed more help than she could provide.

Our amazing vet team hospitalized her for the day to basically clear her system out and help her be more comfortable. She had a lot of medicine given, lots of those fancy X-rays and will be placed on a special diet and new daily meds while she heals and we see how she does moving forward.

We are still short covering her original surgeries and today’s emergency visit and food order has set us back even more.

Today her hospital bill was right at $345 and a case of food that will last her a little more than a week was $65.

Please consider a donation to help us keep on top of these mounting medical bills for this precious girl. She’s a fighter and we are doing everything we can for her as she heals.

This sweet boy, Rascal came to us a few weeks ago after being accidentally ran over. He was a stray that was being fed and had curled up behind her car and without her knowing he was there, he was ran over. He suffered from a broken pelvis which fortunately will heal with crate rest. He’s about healed. We have had our share of medicals recently and have not had a spot open up for a foster to take him so he has been at our vet which means boarding fees. He’s racked up about $400 in boarding fees.

We are working on getting him into a foster as soon as possible.

We would greatly appreciate any amount donated to his vet bill.

Snickerdoodle aka Snickers is about a year and half old GSD mix. She is a medium girl that weighs 55 pounds. She loves the outdoors and would be a great companion to someone that is looking for a hiking buddy.

She was found abandoned at a dog park. She’s a sweet girl with a big heart that wants to please her person. She does need work on basic commands and potty training. She does well in her crate and loves her toys and chew bones. Shes also working on mastering walking on a leash. She is dog friendly and ignores the cats that are in her foster home.

Snickers has been fully vaccinated, rabies, dhlppc and bordetella plus spayed. She is heartworm/tick fever negative and has received a pro heart injection.

If you would like to meet Snickers please message our page or fill out our adoption application to schedule a meet and greet.

Good morning PBAA family! Remember me, I was hit by a car last Friday. Well I have a name now, my name is Opal. My new foster momma picked that out, I love my new name.

Well I wanted to come ask for your thoughts and prayers today as today is my big surgery day. You see, I will have to lose my back leg and my tail and that awesome Dr said he could set my pelvis as well. This is a lot for a little girl like me but I’m strong and I’m a fighter.

This will cost a lot of hooman dollars and you all have donated a lot for me but we need to raise some more to cover this big surgery, so if you can spare a little, these crazy cat ladies would greatly appreciate it. My surgery is estimated to be about $1400.

I’ll update you after my surgery, much loves and kitten kisses to you all!!

Love
Opal

Late Friday afternoon, one of our fosters alerted us that one of our kittens was acting off, walking around dazed and acting lethargic. We had them rush him up to our vet to be checked out. From what the Drs could figure out was he had some type of infection that went to his brain. They hooked him up on IV fluids and antibiotics all weekend and yesterday he began to act like his normal self.

This was a hit for us after taking several medical cases recently and our little hit by car kitten facing major surgery. If you could spare a dollar or two, we would greatly appreciate it. His vet bill came out to $790.

Reminder - the benefits of spaying and neutering the cats you are feeding:

The benefits of spaying (females) include:
✅ Population control! No more unwanted litters!
✅ No heat cycles; therefore, males will not be attracted.
✅ Reduction or elimination of mammary gland tumors, ovarian and uterine cancer, especially if done before the first heat cycle.
✅ Reduced incidence of pyometra.
✅ Better overall health for the cat whose body is no longer stressed and depleted by constant reproduction.

The benefits of neutering (males) include:
✅ Population control! No more unwanted litters!
✅ Reduction or elimination of spraying and marking.
✅ Elimination of hormone-fueled cat fights.
✅ Risk of testicular cancer is eliminated, and the incidence of prostate disease is decreased.
✅ Less desire to roam. Toms stay closer to home and tend to become calmer and friendlier.
✅ A reduction in the spread of FIV, a virus spread between cats by deep bites/puncture wounds received while fighting.
✅ Longer lifespan: outdoor intact male cats tend to get hurt or die while roaming in search of a female in heat. Neutering removes the urge to roam.

Sterilizing our community cats is beneficial to the community as well. Cats that are spayed/neutered during the TNR process are healthier animals and make better neighbors. Complaints of overpopulation, fighting, yowling, and marking will decrease, making the cats more welcome members of the community. Sterilization also saves taxpayer and animal welfare dollars as fewer animals will be captured, impounded, and eventually euthanized due to illness, injury, or lack of homes. Save a life! Spay or neuter all the cats -- your pet(s) and those outdoors.

Want to save 100 cats? Just spay one! We can save them all from a life of suffering. Please spay and neuter! 🐱💙

Cinco was adopted out locally last fall and has done great in his new home, however his owners have had a lifestyle change and due to no fault of his own, we are trying to find him a new Furever. Cinco will be heartbroken once we remove him from his current home so we are looking for a foster to adopt locally or another rescue outside of west Texas to improve his chances of finding the perfect spot. We will pay all transport fees, etc. to get him to that spot.

He has a sweet and submissive personality, always eager to run, play, and make new friends with fellow dogs. While he's still curious about water and needs a bit more time to decide if he enjoys play pools or sprinkler mats, he absolutely loves chasing bubbles.

He’s a quick learner and knows the command “kennel up.” He’s also more than happy to share his toys, kennel space, and the affection of his humans. As you can see from the pictures, he enjoys a good bed and couch too. He would probably appreciate being in a home with another dog to play with. He doesn’t have a lot of cat experience but he can be cat tested if needed (he was with cats for a few months early last year and did great). He is about a year and half old, much smaller than he looks in the pictures and up to date on vaccine plus neutered. We would love for him to get his furever home so he doesn’t have to be bounced around too many more times.

We appreciate any help we can get ….even if you can recommend another rescue for us to contact, it would be a huge blessing. We desperately need our online communities’ help on this one 🙏💜 🐾

UPDATE on the little kitten that was hit by a car in Odessa earlier today.

This sweet baby has some really serious injuries. Right leg is broken, left side of pelvis is broken, open wound on left leg, completely de gloved tail. Right leg might have to be amputated, tail will definitely have to be amputated at the base. She is in shock and being treated by the best vets. She has some good pain meds on board to help keep her comfortable. We will try everything in our power for her.

Please keep her in your thoughts!

She is with our rescue, all donations should be directed to PBAA!

Emergency funds needed!

We were tagged multiple times about a kitten who was hit by a car in Odessa. We immediately sent out a foster plea and one of our rockstar foster said yes without hesitate!

This sweet boy was picked up by a Good Samaritan and rushed to midland to our rescue vet and is now being checked out.

We don’t know the full extent of his injuries but his tail has been fully degloved, his leg appears broken with a huge laceration, he is currently in shock with possible head trauma. Right now stabilizing him is top priority!

This baby needed us and we need your help to make sure he gets the best care possible! Please donate to help us save him!

There are times in our life, when we have to make a hard decision to re-home a pet for the pets best interest and for their safety. This is the case of this sweet, beautiful girl. Her owners reached out for help and we are more than happy to try and help with this situation.

She needs a home where she can be the princess and no dogs. She’d love to assist or supervise you in your daily activities and here is a little more about Yzma.

Bio:
Yzma (named after the villainous character in Emperors New Groove) was born in April 2018 and we found her when she was about four weeks old. She is a funny kitty who makes nearly no sounds, keeping her in stealth mode most of the time. Even her purr makes very little sound and can been generally felt more than heard. She has medium length shiny black fur. She’s in good health, declawed (front) and litter box trained. She is afraid of dogs and would be best without them in her home. She does love to go onto the porch and look around outside!

If you are interested in giving her a forever home or if you can open your home to foster, please reach out to us.

Please no negative comments!
