Adjusting to life with Disability

is never easy, Occupational Therapists can assist with the transition, by finding ways to reduce the impact that your disability has on your life. Aiming to improve abilities to participate in activities of daily living, overcoming challenges and build a meaningful life. Heal- OT offers services within Hippotherapy, Equine Assisted Learning Occupational Therapy, Independent Practice Occupational Therapy.

When I google searched my photos for occupational therapy week. I was so thankful as I have many many wonderful memories of my friends,& colleagues that I have had the pleasure of spending time with over the years. Not only have I been blessed as a person, there was always a little gee gee theme going on as well. So to bring them both together is amazing 👏. Happy . You are all amazing enjoy your week. 💚 🐎.

Today is World Mental Health Day ... and we want to recognise how important this is. For everyone who is dealing with mental health issues, we are with you. The burdens we carry and the challenges we face can feel overwhelming, so safe spaces, like the Cavalier Centre, are vital. Plus, we all know the healing power of horses and ponies, so we are grateful for the incredibly valuable, quiet work, and love our equine friends provide.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, members of the equestrian community who have been catastrophically affected by the storm are invited to apply to EAF's Disaster Relief Fund for emergency grants to help cover basic and essential living expenses. Grants are intended to help those affected meet their essential and most immediate personal and household needs as they begin the process of regaining stability.

While our friends at Fleet of Angels are working 24/7 to help meet equine essential needs, EAF's grants will help to fulfill the essential needs of horse people.

This is so lovely to see. As Occupational therapists we always promote green Therapy. Spending time in nature can help reduce stress, and improve well being. With so many sensory attributes that nature provides.

Did you know you can hire a Tramper (all-terrain mobility scooter) in Woolacombe from Woolacombe Tourist Information Centre ? 🌊✨

Explore routes including: Woolacombe Beach to Mill Rock, through the dunes to the Porthole Café, and up the donkey path to Twitchen and back through Combesgate (pictured).

To hire a tramper you need to be a member of the Countryside Mobility Scheme, which is £15 for an annual membership or £5 for a two-week trial. This can be done at the TIC, which is currently open daily. To book a tramper please call the TIC on 01271 870553.

Happy St Patrick's Day from Heal-OT 💚 🐎. X.

As a Well-being Ambassador... I state live by example. We had an amazing hack at Cannock Chase Trekking Centre. Great for relaxation, sensory awareness, green therapy, fantastic views and of course being with the gee gees. Staff are so friendly and supportive and cater for all needs, enjoyed every minute. Thankyou. Horsie smell can we bottle it. X.

What underpins our intervention as Occupational Therapists ?. Therapy that is meaningful & full of purpose to an individuals health & well-being. What makes us tick, what makes us want to get up in the morning 🌄? We use these purposeful occupations as therapeutic intervention.
