Meet Finn! Finn was vomiting at home and had an upset stomach. We made sure we tested sweet Finn for parvo. He was negatively thankfully! We gave him some subcutaneous fluids, and an injection of Cerenia which is a anti-nausea and anti-emetic. We wish you a smooth quick recovery Finn!

Since we have seen a couple cases this week wanted to spread some knowledge about Canine parvo virus. Canine parvo virus is a Gastrointestinal virus that is spread through infected f***s, soil that is infected with the virus or contact with infected canines. The symptoms of parvo virus are lethargy, sever often bloody diarrhea, abdominal pain or bloating. We diagnose this disease with something called a snap test were we collect the f***s and run a sample. If you recently got a new puppy, until they are fully vaccinated we recommend only letting them to go outside for bathroom breaks and no contact with other pets. If your pet has any of these symptoms please book an appointment with us today so we can treat your babies as soon as possible! Heres a link with more information if you love to read!

🍗 Watch the menu. Avoid sharing turkey bones, rich foods, or anything with onions, garlic, or spices.
🧺 Secure the trash. Curious noses can find harmful leftovers.
🍫 Skip the sweets. Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are toxic to pets.

Meet Mallory! Mallory presented to our clinic for a UTI, Urinary tract infection and and ear infection in both ears. We performed an ear cytology by putting a cotton tipped applicator in both ears and obtained a urine sample which showed a severe uti and ear infection with yeast and cocci present. We sent sweet Mallory home with an antibiotics, and applied a medication called claro to both ears. We also gave her some subcutaneous fluids to help flush out the infection in her bladder. We hope Mallory has a quick recovery!

Today we wanted to post and help the community with any confusion about what urgentvet treats and what is an emergency that needs to go to the ER❤️. Here are some examples of what we see and have the ability to treat in our hospital:
Allergies, itching, and skin problems
Back pain
Bites and stings
Coughing or sneezing
Changes in eating or drinking habits
Diarrhea
Ear infections
Limping
Minor wounds
Toenail or paw pad injuries
Toxin ingestion (Don't forget to call poison control on the way!)
Urinary tract infections
Vomiting
Examples of pet emergencies:
-Straining to urinate
-Trouble breathing
-Sudden collapse
-Grand mal seizures
-Heat stroke
-Hit by car

This is milo! Milo came to our clinic today for an abscess on his left front leg. We gave milo some subcutaneous antibiotics, and anti nausea medication, and a pain injection. We clipped the hair from his arm, cleaned the skin and drain the abscess. He is feeling much better after his procedure! We are wishing you a speedy recovery❤️

🍬 Hide the candy - Chocolate and sugar-free treats can be toxic, so keep them far from curious noses.
🕯️ Skip the candles - Battery-operated lights are a safer bet around wagging tails.
🚪 Calm the chaos - If your pet gets nervous with all the doorbell ringing, set them up in a quiet room with their favorite toy.
🦴 Keep costumes comfy - If your pet's not into dressing up, a festive collar works just as well!
