Meet Thumper, a resilient 2-year-old French Bulldog!

Have you heard of AMC’s Angel Fund? It’s a lifeline for pets in need of emergency care when their families face financial hardship.

Thumper’s story is one of hope and second chances. His owner had visited several veterinary clinics seeking answers, but her funds were exhausted, and no solutions had been found. By the time he arrived at AMC, Thumper was severely emaciated from a lack of nutrition caused by chronic constipation due to an enlarged prostate. He was in critical condition, and AMC was his last chance before considering a heartbreaking decision about his quality of life.

Our team quickly determined that Thumper required immediate surgery to remove over six pounds of accumulated waste and be neutered to prevent future issues. Thanks to the Angel Fund, he was able to undergo the life-saving procedure. After surgery, he was placed on antibiotics and stool softeners, and with proper care, he began to regain his strength.

Now, over a month later, Thumper is a new dog—full of energy and personality, with plenty to say about his second chance at life!

Unfortunately, AMC’s Angel Fund is currently depleted. This fund allows our doctors and leadership team to offer critical emergency services to pets in need, while owners still contribute what they can toward the cost. If you’re able, please consider donating to help more pets like Thumper. Donations can be made in-clinic or over the phone.

Does your pet need urgent care? Our team is skilled in offering efficient surgical and diagnostic care. If your furry friend needs urgent care, call us so we can get them feeling better ASAP.

You should bring your pet in for urgent care if they are experiencing any of the following:

- Upset stomach (diarrhea or vomiting)

- Swollen or bloated belly

- Difficulty with bowel movements (constipation)

- Blood in urine or urinary issues

- Dehydration

- Itchy skin or unusual rashes

- Unexplained hair loss

- Limping or general discomfort

- Excessive scooting

- Eye or ear issues

- Pale or discolored gums

- Changes in appetite (eating too little or too much)
