Graffiti removal at AALOC
AALOC is very grateful to Bushman Orozco who
responded immediately when asked to help remove graffiti at our no-kill animal shelter.❤️
😪 Unfortunately, this probably won’t be the last time we will need graffiti removal. Today he primed the back fence and will be painting it tomorrow.
❤️ Please support his efforts by donating a Home Depot gift card for the paint supplies he needs to help our rescue and community.
He has given so much of his personal time to remove graffiti over the years!

This morning at 9:32 am, Chili passed, despite every tear filled prayer and imaginable intensive care treatment available.
His brief life cheated him of the chance to be a playful puppy, to run in the grass, rollover for belly rubs, and to be cuddled by someone who loved him so much that they don’t know how they ever lived without him.
From the puppy mills of Mexico to being trucked here with many other sick puppies taken from their moms who are left behind to breed over and over until their bodies give out, to being sold to someone who took him to an ER to be euthanized, Chili suffered from an abusive breeding industry.
The only love this tiny pup with the soulful brown eyes and fluffy long ears ever knew during his 11 weeks and 6 days on earth was from those who tried valiantly to save him from the massive parasite infections that overcame his tiny 4 lb body and give him the life he deserved.
We loved him, his ER and ICU vets and staff loved him, and so many of you who donated and prayed for tiny Chili, loved him.
Chili deserved better and today he went home to the ultimate love, and he is now living his best life in all his puppy glory.
Until we meet again little one 🙏🏼

Please say a prayer that God heals our tiny Chili who has been in ICU for bloody diarrhea and parasite infections caused from the puppy mill he was cruelly born into. The vets are doing all they can to help him survive this but they are very concerned that he isn’t doing as well today.
Please pray that God guides the vets in their care so that he may have the chance to know the life that God meant for him. 🙏🏼
Chili update 🙏🏼
First off, he is still critical but that doesn’t stop this tiny pup from wanting to be held and loved.
It’s heartbreaking to think that he was transported here from puppy mills in Mexico and has never known love until now.
Chili was pale yesterday with a red blood cell measurement of only 19, so a blood transfusion was given yesterday and his PCV is now 27.
Some of the extra fluids have leaked from his circulation into his tissues due to low protein levels and systemic inflammation, so he is still receiving plasma to provide the needed protein and other meds to support his circulation.
Saving Chili is a balancing act with the best Critical Care Vets caring for him.
Today is #2 of 3 of a new med for a severe coccidia infection which was resistant to the standard treatment with Albon he was given.
His diarrhea continues but is no longer bloody.
Nasal tube feedings maintain nutrition and blood sugars and warm air is blowing into his treatment cage to help him maintain his body temperature since the infusing fluids are colder than his body.
Chili needs prayers and donations.
ICU care exceeds $21,000 and we’ve raised under $2,000.
Tax-deductible donations can be made at

Thank you for taking a moment to ask God for a miracle and for sharing his story so we can raise the funds needed to help him. 🙏🏼

Chili Update 🙏🏼 Still in intensive care
Chili is a dachshund puppy brought to the ER 2 days after he was bought from someone in Lakewood, possibly from puppy mills in Mexico.
He hadn’t eaten in 2 days, he was limp and the owner asked for euthanasia.
The Vet called to ask us if we could take him under AALOC and Chili’s owner signed transfer papers instead of euthanasia papers.
Chili had severe bloody diarrhea caused by Giardia and Coccidia infections.
A heart echo showed a valve condition with heart enlargement that would severely shorten his life to 3-4 months.
We asked for a second opinion by a second cardiologist.
MILD heart valve disease with NO heart enlargement…. a more positive prognosis that may give him a few years instead of a few months.
But Chili remains critically ill.
The coccidia infection has led to systemic inflammation. Despite treatment, the severe coccidia infestation continued and a new medication was added.
However the blood loss from the diarrhea required a blood transfusion which he is getting right now.
This tiny innocent soul needs the chance to live the life that God meant for him, not sickness and suffering caused by abusive breeders.
🔴 The bill is over $21.000 to date 🔴

❣️UPDATE❣️We have an amazing supporter Julie who has graciously offered to donate the replacement air conditioner! You have the animals and board members at AALOC’s deepest appreciation 🙏

Unfortunately the window air conditioner in our front house broke down. It’s an old unit over 12 years old.. began to leak, we repaired it, leaked again, repaired again but it is barely blowing cold air now..
We are asking if someone would be generous enough to donate a new one.. we have it on our Amazon wishlist which gets sent straight to our address and only delivers during open business hours. The new unit costs $289 and would bring some needed relief to the cats, dogs, and rabbits in our front room (as well as the employees!) 🙏

If you are able to help us with this donation, please let me know so I can update this post so we only receive one. Thank you for your support!!

Adopt them at aaloc.org
Our 14 yr old Jasmine developed sudden difficulty breathing today and was taken to two ERs. The first ER insisted that she was stable and could return to our rescue facility. Thankfully, the volunteer observed her rapid breathing and drove her straight to another ER instead.
The second ER took her immediately back to the oxygen cage where her respiratory rate was 150 per minute but has come down to 60 per minute. They gave her IV steroids to help her asthma and IV fluids.
Please use the donation link below if you’d like to support Jasmine and our no kill animal rescue, home to over 150 dogs, cats and rabbits ❤️ Thank you!
