Pennsylvania hunters haven’t had the opportunity to legally hunt most species on a Sunday since the 19th century. That is now one step away from being a thing of the past, as Senate Bill 147 was approved by the state Senate this week to expand hunting opportunities by allowing for three legal Sundays in Pennsylvania in the upcoming year. The bill has been sent to the governor for his signature.
Here’s what Pennsylvania hunters should know:
🔸 The bill, once signed into law, does not take effect for 90 days. This means there will be no additional Sunday Hunting opportunities until next year.
🔸 The measure allows for three days of Sunday hunting – one during deer rifle season, one during deer archery season and another selected by the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The Game Commission will establish the three Sundays in which hunting will be legal.
🔸 Those who pursue game on one of the Sundays legally designated for hunting will be required to obtain written permission from private landowners.
Thank you to Sen. Dan Laughlin for sponsoring this bill and for his efforts to expand opportunities for hunters in Pennsylvania. If you have a hunting or wildlife-related question, you can email the Game Commission at [email protected].
Thank you for being a Pennsylvania hunter!
