Meet Yogi!
This sweet 6 month old pup is available for adoption and just the cutest mutt you ever did see! Coming in at around 42lbs, he is crate, leash and potty trained. Dog friendly, LOVES kids, and has been around a cat in his foster home. He is down for a good snuggle on the couch, and loves to play! He has puppy energy but isn’t overwhelming with it. Yogi is the perfect size dog, and super smart too! He knows sit, paw and lay down already & is very good at following directions. Yogi is fabulous in the car as well!

Paul McCartney has claimed that at the very end of The Beatles song “A Day in the Life,” there was a frequency added that only dogs can hear. We know they have excellent hearing and pick up on many things humans cannot. You may have to try playing the song and seeing if your dog gives any reaction.

‼️ Honey Updates 🥰♥️

Big News Stories:
- No potty accidents inside at all!!!
- Sleeps all night in crate, whimpers initially but whimpering time is decreasing, only 10 mins last night.
- Starting to take naps in crate, she did great this morning no noise at all. But she loves to nap right near a person. If she can’t get on your lap she will be as close to you as possible, a real snuggle bug.

Smart Girl:
- Steps… mastered the outside steps, running up and down, no problem.
- Starting to understand to sit to put on leash and for it to be taken off.

Likes:
- Fan of the kids -ages 14 & 11.
- Loves to play ball with them and they are definitely her favorite people to snuggle with.
- Enjoys the snow & being outside. She gets excited when she sees the leash.

Normal puppy behavior starting to come out as she gets more comfortable & over excited from playing. Nothing out the norm.

🚨🚨🚨 KEEP YOUR PETS SAFE!!! 🚨🚨🚨

The Connecticut State Director of HSUS shared the following message:
"Connecticut law prohibits tethering dogs outside during extreme weather. Dogs of all breeds are susceptible to frostbite, especially on the nose and footpads. If you see a dog being tethered outside, please have your local ACO or police take immediate action: Tell them that per Connecticut General Statutes 22-350a, dogs cannot be tethered outside during extreme weather for a duration longer than 15 minutes.

It's also too cold for cats and for rabbits in outdoor hutches. (In nature, rabbits are prolific burrowers--they burrow beneath the frostline to avoid extreme temperatures. In hutches, they have no such protection, and can die from extreme weather.) So, bring them in, too! Connecticut law, CGS 53-247(a), requires that people provide their animals with "protection from the weather."

Remember: If it's too cold for you, it's too cold for your pets!"

Wellness Wednesday… A Balanced Diet

A healthy, balanced diet is just as important to your dog as it is to you!

Healthy Dog Food Tips:
- Feed your dog a healthy, balanced diet to help them avoid diseases.
- Research dog food brands before choosing one. Some have a history of poor quality ingredients or recalls.
- Remember not all dog food is created equal. Do your best to choose something that’s nutritious for your dog.
- Whatever you decide for food, make sure your dog is getting all the nutrients they need.
- If you’re not sure if your dog is getting enough nutrients, talk to your vet & see if a change in diet or some supplements are necessary.
- Feeding your pup the right amount of food is inportant. Overweight dogs tend to suffer more health problems at a younger age.
- Unsure how much to feed your pup? Ask your vet for advice & make sure your dog is maintaining a healthy weight.
- Lastly, be aware that many dog treats are packed with calories, so be sure not overfeed treats to your dog!

🚨PSA: Cold Weather & Dogs

How cold is too cold for your dog?

While exact temperatures may vary from breed to breed, most pups will start to feel a little chilly at temperatures below 45°F. Once temps go below 32°F, it’s a good idea to limit the time your dog spends outdoors & take extra precautions to keep them warm.

In other words… if it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for your dog.

📕Puppies, smaller dogs & breeds with short or thin coats are more susceptible to the cold vs as an example a full-grown Husky or Newfoundland.

Limit outdoor time, put on a sweater & protect their paws. And inside offer them a cozy blanket in their sleeping areas.
