A gem of the Aquarium hobby, this bright little Hypancistrus was and still is a holy grail species that is STILL highly sought after by hobbyists all over the world! Named for the black and white striping pattern along their bodies, these zebra plecos will make an eye-catching addition to any tank, granted you keep the temperature to their liking, high 70s and up. Being a Hypancistrus, the Zebra Pleco will appreciate high protein in their diet and clean, oxygenated water so ample surface agitation and water changes are recommended for providing long term care for these fish. Spawning will occur with males trapping females in caves until eggs are released, but this activity only occurs in sexually mature specimens that are of at least 2 years of age.

Formerly called “sp. Sparkle” Rainbowfish from tannin-stained “Kali Jakora,” this smaller fish thrives in soft acidic conditions but has been acclimated and adjusted to neutral water parameters similar to the other Bird’s Head Peninsula Melanotaenia species or the Paracheirodon species from South America.
Being a rainbowfish, Melanotaenia jakora will readily accept flake foods, micro pellets, frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp as well as all live miceocrustaceans. Just like other rainbows, adequate and quality feedings will condition mature fish to spawn and lay eggs on plants, in mosses and in yard spawning mops, with eggs hatching in 7-14 days given proper incubation techniques are employed.
Topping out at 2.5-3” in captivity, this species can do well in tanks smaller than 3ft in length and puts on an electrifying display when they are well cared for and properly maintained, showing off iridescent blues and electric whites over a grey-pink base color as well as hints of pink in the tail.
This fish was a relatively new discovery by Gary Lange and Johannes Graf’s collecting team and this fish was officially described in late 2023 by Johannes Graf. The description can be found by signing up with ANGFA (Australia & New Guinea Fishes Association - a group dedicated to aquatic husbandry of fish from that region) and accessing their Fishes of Sahul magazine.

Tired of never seeing your Corydoras or rare plecos when you sit down to enjoy your aquarium? Look no further for an active, outgoing and bright colored catfish! The Albino Hoplo Catfish resembles a Corydoras with its armor-like ridges as well as the whiskers and body shape of a bullhead catfish but lacks the gigantic mouth that will swallow tankmates whole! This fish is relatively peaceful, quite hardy and will tolerate a wide range of water parameters.
Being a Catfish, the Albino Spotted Hoplo will readily accept flakes, sinking pellets and frozen foods without much complaint. In the home aquaria these fish can attain a max size of 6 - 8 inches.

This week was our monthly big shipment the highlight of the shipment I would say are the Api Api Bettas the red on them will not disappoint, next is the Flame Arrow Goby with amazing coloration right off the bat, and lastly a gaint fat 17” black pearly eel that is very rare in the hobby. Other things to note are our Bichir selection, we have most of the unique Bichir in stock so if anyone is looking for rare bichirs this is the place to look at. Photos will be taken as soon as we can most of the items will be posted on our website throughout the week. Gary Lange’s “Most Amazing Rainbowfish” is a firecracker of beauty. The most colorful dwarf rainbowfish sports a pastel blue body with white dorsal and a**l fins and a red tail topping out around 3 inches. When males display to each other the spread their fins wide and turn their sides near white as well. When males display to females they turn on a electric red orange head stripe on that bleeds into an electric turquoise blue down the back. One of the rare rainbows that show color throughout the day.

Another C. fasciata type from close to the Papua/PNG border, this brilliant blue-purple fish was discovered near Yuruf Village in “Kali Awalim” stream by Gary Lange’s collecting team.
Males start off olive green with peachish-pink in the fins and later fill out with half-blue (sometimes gunmetal steel blue), half-white in the body with pink pectoral fins while females maintain that grey-green and later add hints of blue shine. Even as juveniles the “Chilatherina bars” fright patterning is quite prominent, and these stay with them as a prominent characteristic even into adulthood.
These are a very active Chilatherina and you’ll catch young males flashing yellow, green, pink, orange head stripes while sparring constantly with conspecifics and other rainbows in your tank. Even the females can throw on orange head stripes!
Being a fasciata type, this fish likely tops out at 4.5-5 inches in an adequately sized aquarium with proper stocking and husbandry.”

Hyphessobrycon myrmex commonly known as the Fire Ant Tetra, is a rare tetra originating from the Rio Orinoco basin in Venezuela and Colombia. This glowing orange tetra only reaches about 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in captivity. Tetras are schooling fish and are best kept in groups of at least six to encourage natural behavior. Grab them while they are still available!

Chilatherina sp Upper Tor provides a flurry of activity throughout the day. Showing pale yellow orange at rest, firing up to a glowing white gold when displaying, and down to a charcoal black with a golden headstripe when sparring. In the wild these fish attain sizes upwards of 6”, in the home aquarium they tend to max out around 4-4.5 inches even after years in captivity. One of signature fish(photo credit)

Albino Pygmy Corydoras is one of my favorite nano fish. A lot of people mistaken them for baby albino corydoras but these guys stay little over an inch.
