Letter from Linda
Dear Friends and Family, Near and Far,
As you may have heard, after forty wonderful years I have sold the Miwok Livery Stables. The Marin Horse Council is having a retirement party for me, and I want you to come. It will be a BBQ at Rancho Nicasio, June 16, from 6:30-9:30, outdoors, with all our friends from Miwok Stables. Bring your memories and share horse stories from all the good times we have enjoyed together.
I thanked the MHC for the honor of this retirement party, and I asked if they would combine it with a dream of mine, a scholarship for the financially disadvantaged who have a passion for horses. I want to build a scholarship fund that will grow, year after year, to bring horses to those who have the passion for horses but not the means. Whether children or grown-ups, if they wish for a chance to ride, I want to make their dreams come true.
The Marin Horse Council loves the idea and will collect donations on their website. They have formed a committee to choose the applicants and arrange the lessons. I am so grateful for their support and hope this Scholarship will grow over the coming years.
Rancho Nicasio is the perfect setting for our horse party. I want you to see it! The quaint little town of Nicasio dates back to the 1850’s, with St. Mary’s church, built in 1890, a general store, post office and tiny fire department. Rancho Nicasio was built in 1941 and it has not changed a bit. It is beautiful on a warm summer evening. Please come, re-unite and celebrate with us.
Get your tickets now for Thursday night, June 16 at Rancho Nicasio, $150 for BBQ Ribs and Chicken. dress is casual cowgirl and cowboy attire. We can take only 200 guests, so let us know as soon as possible. The Marin Horse Council is a 501c3 non-profit – your BBQ tickets and any donations go to the Scholarship Fund.
If you can't come, donations are welcome, but really, we want to see you – it won't be a party without you!
I hope, in some small way, that Miwok and I have made some of your dreams come true and I hope you will want to play it forward with me to make other dreams come true.
