Share this post to help your friends avoid the emotional heartbreak and financial devastation of a puppy scam! 💔

Scammers prey on your emotion and excitement of adopting a new puppy. This excitement can cloud your good judgement, leaving you hurt financially AND emotionally when you realize you have lost your money, and hopes for your new puppy.

Personally, I'd estimate that 95%+ of puppy scams could be AVOIDED (and scammers would be run out of "business") if everyone followed this ONE SIMPLE RULE:

🛑 NEVER send money via unsecured methods such as cash apps, unsecured venmo, money orders, etc. These methods have NO buyer protection (unlike credit cards and Paypal). There is a reason that scammers only want to deal in cash. Only pay with methods that protect you from fraud!

This alone would keep most people out of trouble. But while we're at it, here are some other tell-tale signs of a puppy scam:

🛑 Websites with no phone or contact addresses listed. Scammers love to work as anonymously as possible and prefer email and text. I can spot a scam website instantly with just this criteria alone. They're all the same: photos of random cute puppies (they never look like littermates), with only a button to email if you're interested. BEWARE. These websites can be built in a day using copied photos and pages and ready for "business."

🛑 Lack of credible reviews on Google, Facebook, BBB, etc.

🛑 Pricing that is too good to be true, often advertised with "free shipping."

🛑 Asking for more unexpected money after the initial purchase. After you send a scammer money, they will keep asking for more until you stop. They will soon try to push "crates," "kenneling fees," "vet bills," or whatever other non-existent fees they can invent (and for which the victim is willing to pay). So the INSTANT you are ever asked for more money (often more than the puppy purchase itself), STOP. You are being played. Cut your losses. Come to grips that you've been defrauded. Sending more money is only going to make it more heart-breaking in the end.

🛑 Never buy a puppy from anyone who does not offer for the puppy to be picked up in person, where it was raised.

🟢While it's not always practical, the BEST way to take home your new puppy is to meet the breeder at the residence where the puppy was born and raised. Your puppy and your relationship with the breeder will start on the right foot!

Here at My Golden Retriever Puppies, we welcome folks to pick up their puppy in person. However, that's not always practical, so we do arrange joyful reunions by providing safe, reliable transport. But that choice is customer-driven. We can accommodate either option.

He was the last one in his litter and was so excited he had found his home until...
...it fell through from no fault of his own.

Then....
..it happened AGAIN!!

All Thor has ever been guilty of is being healthy and handsome, with a calm personality. His parents Mooz and Jewel are both genetically health-tested and have their OFA Hip and Elbow certifications. Thor has been ENS-trained and receives lots of daily socialization. He's had a wonderful start under the care of his breeder Aiden and his family. He is 16 weeks old.

Thor will make the right family very happy. ❤️

Hey everyone! 👋 I’m Galen, the founder of My Golden along with my new pup Bear 🐾. We've been connecting some of the best Golden breeders we know with awesome families since around 2014.
I enjoy serving our customers, running the website and producing helpful articles and content for current and prospective Golden owners.
I've been a teacher for over 15 years, including 4 years overseas with my wife Jenny and our 4 children, where we had the time of our lives while I served as a choir teacher for grades 7-12 at an international school in SE Asia.
I love to be outdoors, exploring (any kind of adventure is great!), singing, and evening walks with my wife. I also enjoy cycling, mountain biking, and the country life. I am actively involved in serving at my church and singing in a local choir. I also teach as a choir instructor in a local community children's choir.

"Hope you’re doing well. Wanted to let you know that Cali (Miracle) has been doing extremely well in training and will begin hunt test training this summer. The dog trainer is extremely impressed with her and said she is the prettiest and smartest red golden he has ever trained and sees her going very far with hunt test training and winning some awards.
