Thinking about adopting a dog? Bringing a new family member into your home is an adjustment, for the humans and the dog. The best way to help your dog settle in to its new home is to allow the time and patience needed for your dog to know it's really in it's forever home. July 4th...a time for celebration, family gatherings and (yes) fireworks! While beautiful, fireworks scare most animals. Please make sure your pet.....has a safe place...bathroom, bedroom, anywhere that's calming..has an up-to-date microchip should your pet become lost
If you must leave your pet alone, consider playing some music to muffle or block the sound. More pets are reported lost on July 4th than at any other time of the year. Don't let that "missing pet" be yours. Have a safe and festive holiday!

The pool has opened, the sun is shining and the temps are rising! Please remember that your pet may not be used to the heat and humidity. Take it slow. Make sure your pets have unlimited access to fresh water, and access to shade when outside. Keep your pet free of parasites that are more common during warm weather, such as fleas and ticks. Know the signs of heatstroke. If you are hot so is your pet.

Well, the KABOOMs are out in full force tonight! Mya's hiding under the covers. We checked the fence perimeter before coming in tonight just to make sure there were no gaps, but we're not going back outside until it's over. Keep them safe, keep them inside!

Another great idea

You know how you've been meaning to replace your dog's lost ID tags? Drat! And now your neighborhood sounds like a war zone and your dog is going nuts. Or maybe it's your neighbor who forgot, and you're staring out the window wondering how long before his dog freaks out and jets over the fence and into the night in a blind panic...

Don't let that happen. Do This: Open your junk drawer, dig out a sharpie and write phone numbers on your dog's collar and offer to do your neighbors' dogs' collars.

Then, before the BOOMS get bad, bring your dogs inside, close the drapes, turn up your television to muffle the sound, laugh, play silly games with your dog to distract him, bake something that smells irresistible, give'em stuffed kongs to soothe their brains.

This too shall pass!

PLEASE REMEMBER people with fireworks can’t handle just shooting them off JUST on the 4th of July. They have them in hand so they will be going off randomly every day for at least the next week!

Make sure your dogs have collars and tags on at all times! Please leash walk them even in your backyard!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO FIREWORKS SHOWS!!!

DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO KEEP THEM SAFE JUST LIKE YOU WOULD A HUMAN CHILD!

STAY SAFE AND LEAVE YOUR DOGS AT HOME WITH THE TV OR RADIO ON LOUDLY WHEN YOU LEAVE!

They do not understand the suddenly loud bombs going off to their hyper sensitive hearing.

THIS IS ALL ON US AS PET PARENTS! NO EXCUSES!
