HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Trick or Treat!!! Halloween is a time for goodies. Caramel apples, pumpkin donuts, chocolates, and candy corn make for a delicious holiday. It is well known that chocolate can be toxic for our furry friends, but sugary candy can also pose risks for toxicity. Too much sugar can cause stomach upset, excessive thirst, and in severe cases electrolyte changes. If your concerned about a tasty treat your pet has consumed, please reach out to your local DVM or the ASPCA animal poison control for further help.

Good morning NSA Mid-South families. As an update to our hiring actions, the veterinary technician will start in early October for over the counter sales. The veterinarian will start late October/early November. At that time we will be open for full wellness, sick call, and medication sale services. Good morning NSA Mid-South families. We have bad news and good news to share:

Bad news: Unfortunately it looks like we will not have a vet available to come for a vaccine clinic until September due PCS of our normal traveling vet. If things change, we will be sure to announce vaccine clinic dates on here as soon as we have them.

Good news: Hiring actions are in the works to finally get local veterinary personnel back on base. If all hiring actions are approved, the goal is to open the clinic for 20 hours each week starting in October 2024.

We appreciate your patience over the past year of personnel shortages. We look forward to being able to offer full services to include sick calls, nail trims, a**l glands, and prevention/medication again this fall.

Good afternoon NSA Mid-South families. Just a reminder to please be kind to our staff. We understand that waiting for our busy vaccine clinics and the limited services we offer can be frustrating but please know that we are doing our best to serve you. We choose to come from Fort Campbell on our own accord, it is not something required by command. We genuinely want to provide affordable wellness care for your pets. The vet that came left her two month old baby to provide services while on maternity leave. The technician volunteered to come despite having an exam to do for so that evening. The NCO welcoming and directing you to the exam rooms is a food inspector who volunteers because she wants to see the clinic continue to operate. Traveling staff leave at 0500 and usually do not return until 2100. They complete their main mission of military working dog and food support and then chose to stay to provide care to your pets. Yesterday they averaged seven pets an hour for five hours while only taking a ten minute break for lunch. We sincerely apologize to those we were unable to see due to the large turn out and time constraints. Our next clinic will be 21 May from 1030-1500.

We have a limited amount of heartgard and bravecto left available for preorder to pick up next week at the clinic. If your pet has been seen at a military vet facility within the last year and you would like to order some, email the clinic email at [email protected] by 0900 tomorrow morning and we will have it ready for you. All appointment slots have been booked.

Thank you to all who came to our vaccine clinic and donated to the Fort Campbell relief effort. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Our next vaccine clinic will be in February. Stay tuned for dates. We will continue to have a donation box at the Commissary until Friday.

We will have a box at our vaccine clinic for donations for the victims of the tornado that hit Fort Campbell yesterday leaving many without homes. Nonperishable food, water, clothes, supplies, children and baby items, etc accepted. Our vet will bring the donations back with her to deliver to the local Red Cross. Vaccine clinic hours may need to be shortened if she is needed back at Fort Campbell. Please plan to come in the morning if possible to ensure you can be seen.
