Wally and Woody are home! It doesn't take a lot of applications; it only takes the right one. These boys could not have found a better forever than with their new Mom Valerie. As stated by one of her references, "taking in senior dogs is her forte, her calling. A bonded pair of senior pugs is right up her alley."
Valerie has been taking in senior dogs for many years and we are honored that she chose these 2 boys to provide a loving home to. We are happy to put pugs back into her life. They will be well cared for and loved in an environment where age is just a number. We need more Valeries in this world!

Butkus has a new set of Pawrents! This lucky boy has found his forever home with 2 wonderful dog loving humans. They have support of extended family and friends all who simply adored their former pug Gus and are thrilled to welcome Butkus (now Bobby) into the fold (see what we did there?). There will be lots of walks (maybe not this week) around their dog friendly neighborhood and every day will be Bobby Day! Not much more to say, just look at those happy faces!

Done Deal! Ramses has a forever family! We are so happy for Ramses to have landed with such amazing pug parents. Former adopters of Dory in 2017, they recently lost their pug Bella. Both girls had wonderful lives with them and though there is a big ol' gentle giant in Charlie in the house, life without a pug is just not the same. Enter young Ramses, so full of life and energy and ready to settle down after his life on the streets of LA. Ramses is already doing great! He is enjoying lots of walks, playtime and cuddles. His Dads are totally in love! We are so grateful to have been part of this little guys journey and can't wait for more updates on his new life.
Thank you to Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles for entrusting Ramses to our care.

AVAILABLE | Luna #2
2 year old | Female Pug Mix
Presenting Luna #2! A Pug Jack Russell mix. At just 2 years old, she is ready to give all of her love, affection and devotion to the special family who steps up and gives a girl a chance. No, she most definitely does not have a flat face, (Better to breathe with my dearies), but she does have a curly tail, an abundance of personality and the desire to make her new people proud and happy!

Compatibility:
Luna #2 loves everyone! Old, young, big, little, cat or dog. She wants to play, so if your cat isn't into that, they may not appreciate her enthusiasm.

Activity level:
High! Luna #2 is young and energetic with a strong desire to run and play. She loves her toys and still enjoys chewing, so chew toys with supervision will make her very happy. She loves walks and car rides. Every day is an adventure for Luna #2.

Health: Luna #2 is a healthy girl. Spayed and UTD with vaccines and house trained. She has a special feature of a turned-out left paw. This does not slow her down one bit and does not cause her any pain. We think it adds to her allure. She is one of a kind!

Personality:
She has the fun-loving energy of the Jack Russell with the Velcro gene of the pug. Picture a happy little shadow following you everywhere, who wouldn't love that? Luna #2 has a strong cuddle game as well and could not be any sweeter when snuggled up next to her person. She is crate trained as well and is soothed by listening to music when her foster family needs to run errands.

Areas for Improvement:
We honestly can't identify any. She is a pug mix, and that is always a challenge for pug rescues. We are hoping someone sees all the wonderful things Luna #2 has to offer and gives her the best life ever! She will make a wonderful little companion for an active family with a lot of love to give. Luna #2 is small in stature, pug sized. Her photos don't necessarily reflect that.

Adoption Fee: $650
Based on age minus $100 mixed breed discount.

Please lift your hearts this morning at 11 to hold close those who have cared for Care Pug sweet Nora as she passes over to the rainbow bridge. Our fosters give their hearts and souls so that every dog that crosses their doorsteps feels safe and loved.

From Nora’s foster mom:

“Nora Jean. Today we have to let you go....
I Remember the day you came to us in a snowstorm, so scared for the changes that were to come.... I'm glad that you were able to come around and feel at home again. This is your last trip home, Little girl....” 🐾🐾🐾🐾🌈

Bella #2 has been adopted! Bella came into rescue from a life as the only dog. It was confirmed during her fostering period that if she was going to enter a new family with a dog, they would need to be a calm and easy going one because Bella could get anxious around more energetic or high-strung dogs. Well, Bruce is the guy. A PRoNE alum who has already had pug siblings is a perfect gentleman with the sweetest demeanor and he will be a safe and peaceful companion to her. Bella's new parents have had many pugs and dogs over the years and are the quintessential pug people. One reference told us that if he were a dog he'd want to be one of theirs. We are so happy for everyone and hope for many happy years ahead for Bella and her family.

AVAILABLE | Hermes
4 year old | Male
Meet Hermes! He is a happy little guy who came into rescue when his family was relocating and unable to take him along.

Compatibility:
Not a fan of cats, he is very much a "lover" of his foster pug brother. He is very charismatic and love making friends with other dogs and people on his walks. With his high puppy like energy, we will be seeking placement with dog savvy children 6 and over.

Activity level:
Hermes is energetic and playful. He really enjoys his walks, though can get anxious on busy streets. Loves car rides in a secured crate and has been enjoying sharing toys with his foster pug brother. He is crate trained but would much prefer to stick close to his people at night.

Health:
Neutered and UTD on shots, Hermes is a healthy young pug who has been well cared for. He is on flea/tick and Heartworm preventatives.

Personality:
Hermes is a smart cookie! He's got tricks and knows several commands. He is very alert and will love to be involved in all the comings and goings in his new family. He is a friend to everyone, well except cats, and will thrive in an active environment where he can be mentally and physically stimulated.

Areas of Improvement:
Hermes is a marker. He is making some improvements in his foster home on a potty schedule, but this will be a work in progress. He has no problem wearing man pants (belly bands), so this is a saving grace.

Adoption fee: $600

A new star twinkles in the sky tonight. PRoNE alumni Hagan passed today. Our condolences to the Letzeisen family.

“PRoNE alum Hagan went to puggy heaven today. He was 14 years old. When Alicia brought him for the meet-and-greet, he hopped up on the couch and was home. He was the best boy! Loved car rides, long walkies, and treats. I will always be grateful to PRoNE for bringing him into my life.”

ADOPTED 06-2024 | Wally & Woody
10 Year old | Bonded Brothers
Meet Wally and Woody! 2 sweet boys who came into rescue when their owners could no longer care for them due to ill health. Don't let their age scare you away! They have double the love to give and lots of energy to spare.

Compatibility:
They have not been cat tested, but they are getting along well with the resident pug in their foster home. They love having company and are polite with dog savvy older children. Wally and Woody LOVE their people! They have always had their humans close by and we will be seeking a similar situation for them.

Activity level:
They love to play and wrestle. Wally is a little stiff on rising but works out the kinks once he gets going. They can navigate the furniture no problem.

Health:
They boys are in good health. Neutered and UTD on shots. Wally and Woody have a sweet temperament and a super chill vibe.

Personality:
Wally and Woody have a sweet temperament and a super chill vibe. They come pre-loaded with lots of love to give their new family.

Areas of Improvement:
While they started out in belly bands, a consistent potty schedule has them on the right track. They are smart and once settled in should be good to go with potty training.
Wally had one episode of nipping at the hand of his foster while being dried off after a bath when he first came in. No further incidents have occurred, but naturally handling with care and observing for cues will be necessary during their adjustment period.
Woody becomes anxious around stairs. We are working on this with him, but you may need to be prepared to carry him. He weighs about 22 lbs.

Are you looking for a premade pug family to love and adore you in return for a warm lap and a frolic in the yard? Wally and Woody are your boys!
Adoption fee: $700

05/26/2024

2 year old puggle Odin came into rescue as an emergency. He needed to be an only dog related to some aggression with an older dog in the home. Enter applicant Nancy who was in search of a companion after losing her pug. Odin had no place to go as all of our foster homes had one or more dogs. Nancy was willing to take a chance on Odin and try our foster to adopt program.
Well, Odin walked into the house like he owned the joint and proceeded to charm the heck out of everyone, especially his new mom (he pretty much decided he was home). He loved having a yard to explore and his marking behaviors improved with all of the attention he was getting. He was neutered and checked over at the vet and turned out to be a wonderful companion. We are so glad when people are willing to take a chance on a dog. What a happy outcome for all!

Ollie has hit the jackpot of forever homes! Long time pug lovers with tons of experience. Ollies new family was ready to open their homes to another rescue and Ollie fit the bill. Ollie will bring the fun, happy and charming exuberance into their home they have been missing since losing their beloved pug Diego. We always ask our home inspectors if they would leave their dogs with the applicant. Without hesitation it was a resounding yes! This writer may need to get back to her local pug meetups so she can give sweet Ollie a big smooch! So happy for Ollie and this family!

There is something very special about the relationships you form with adopters over the years when you have been in operation for 40 years. Jane and Austin have adopted 5 pugs from us over the last 20 years. They have taken in and loved many of our older pugs and have nurtured them through thick and thin. Well, Bella #1 makes PRoNE pug number 6!
Bella will have the best life, walking the neighborhood, taking trips to the beach and being adored for the rest of her days! Thank you Jane and Austin!

Please keep your eyes peeled for this little guy.

ADOPTED | Rye
5 Year Old | Female

Beautiful and sweet Rye, rescued in Korea by Pug Rescue of Korea, is open to applications! Her wonderful fosters realized that as much as they love her, now is not the right time for them to bring a full-time pug into their family. We will be seeking the very best placement for Rye so that she can continue to thrive here in New England living her best life.

Compatibility:
Rye loves everyone! She has been very sweet and gentle with the toddler in her foster home. Prior to coming into rescue, she lived with her mom and 2 siblings. When she had to stay isolated during recovery from her patella surgery in Korea, she was very sad not being able to play with the other fosters in the rest of the house. We think she would love another dog friend to pal around with. She has not been cat tested.

Activity level:
Rye is full of energy. She has no restrictions following her patella surgery and has been enjoying multiple walks daily. It is how she prefers to do her business, so if you are looking for someone to help you get your 10k steps/day, Rye is ready to hook you up! She also loves to relax throughout the day keeping an eye on the comings and goings in her foster home.

Health:
Rye got a clean bill of health on exam from our vet. She was cleared by her surgeon prior to leaving Korea and has done very well with her mobility. She takes a joint supplement to keep all of her joints healthy and supple. She is at a perfect weight, and this should be maintained for life long good health.

Personality:
You couldn't ask for a more easy-going girl. Rye is just all around happy. She does not show any type of separation anxiety, she is not bothered by loud noises, she walks well on the leash without pulling. She is a very trusting soul who pulls you in with her gaze. Speaking from experience here (I met Rye at the airport and brought her to her foster home), it is impossible not to fall in love with this girl within moments of meeting her.

Areas of Improvement:
None. She is perfect. At least that is what we think.

Adoption fee based on age and international travel stipend: $1100.00

AVAILABLE | Prinkles
3 year old | Silver colored female

Meet Prinkles! She is a beautiful soft cuddle bunny who is recently spayed, UTD on vaccines and ready to find her forever home. She is a real beauty with the softest fur and such a pretty face!

Compatibility:
Prinkles is getting along great with the 2 other pugs in her foster home. She has not been tested with larger dogs or cats. She has a preference for females but is warming up to her foster dad. She seems to be bothered by facial hair as evidenced by her barking at her foster brother who has a beard. Dog savvy children aged 6 plus are good.

Activity level:
Big puppy energy. Loves to play and run around in the yard. She's a bit of a puller on the leash so keeping a firm hold and doing some loose leash training is advised. Loves car rides and must be securely restrained for safety. In true pug style, she also is a big fan of snuggles with her person and fur friends.

Health:
Prinkles is a young healthy girl who is at a good weight for her frame. That should be maintained with a high quality diet. As with any pug, knowledge of health issues common to the breed should be monitored for throughout her lifetime.

Personality:
Playful, sweet, skittish at times, but easily redirected. She is a polite girl who doesn't display any kind of resource guarding or separation anxiety. As she feels more secure and gains confidence, we feel her relationship with men will improve as it already has with the guys in her foster home.

Areas of Improvement:
Prinkles is house trained but has had the occasional accident. Continued work in this area should be expected.
Continued work on leash manners.
If you don't allow pets on the furniture, Prinkles is not your girl. She easily and happily accesses all the furniture in her foster home.
Be ready to support her with any reaction to loud noises.
Always have good safety awareness. Prinkles is fast and loves to run. A safely fenced yard would make her very happy.

Adoption fee based on age and spay fee:
$750.00

📣HELP US HELP YOU!

We have some requests from the Application Processing Department (that "department" consists of 1-2 volunteers).

1.) Please be sure to provide accurate information when completing your app. This may call for some legwork in advance such as gathering and jotting down cell phone numbers and letting your references know that we will be reaching out. Without exaggerating nearly all of the last 10 applications processed contained incorrect phone numbers. Our reference checker will always text first (who picks up a random unknown caller?). If no reply she tries again the following day. If no reply she reaches out to the applicant to get the correct contact info. This leads to days of delay in the completion of the reference checks. In the meantime, other applicants' applications are being processed, decreasing the likelihood that yours will be selected.

2.) Remember to let your veterinarian's office know you are hoping to rescue a pug and consent to them releasing information to us. Without that consent, we cannot complete your application.

3.) If it has been greater than 6 months since you have applied to adopt, you must start over with the full application. When the Approved/In Process Form is filled out and we do not have your original application on file any longer, that means emailing you and asking you to complete the full application again. More delays. We do not keep apps on file indefinitely. The information can be inaccurate, or folks have moved on. If you do not remember when you filled out an application, chances are you need to start over.

Also, if you leave your "pug order" in the comments of a post with your phone number. We won't be calling you. Someone else might, but it won't be us.

You can read more about our adoption application process by reading our FAQ page as well as the instructions included with the application.
