AVAILABLE | Eggnog
5 years old | Female black pug
This spicy little nugget will keep you entertained far past the holiday season. Eggnog traveled here with our volunteer from Pug Nation LA where she was taken in from the shelter as a stray. As has been the case with many of our other travelers, she is adjusting slowly to the cold weather but needs a wardrobe to keep her warm for outdoor trips.
COMPATIBILITY:
Eggnog is living and getting along with the 6 other dogs in her foster home. She is a bit of an attention seeker so we do not thing she would mind being the object of all of your affection. She has not been tested with cats but was quite interested in a free flying cockatiel in her foster home. She has stopped chasing the bird now that she understands they are one of the pack. Eggnog can be mouthy. She doesn't bite but she will excitedly grab hands with her mouth so we will look for a home with older respectful children.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:
Eggnog has the energy of a puppy! She is extremely playful and loved running around outdoors in the warmer weather in LA. Here in New England it's taking a bit of encouragement to get her to go outdoors. Once things warm up we think she will be happy. She enjoys engaging in play with her foster dad with both soft and hard toys.
HEALTH:
While Eggnog is in good health it is important to note that during her spay while at the shelter she went into cardiac arrest. She was revived after 15 seconds, but any future necessary surgery will require she is evaluated by a cardiologist.
PERSONALITY:
Eggnog is fun-loving, and excitable. She can be a bit of a mischief maker and likes to get into the trash and will try and open cabinets, especially if there is food behind the door! Being very food motivated, we don't know what she had to contend with as a stray. Secured trash and a very safe environment will be a must for her. Think puppy proofing. She is a beautiful girl and everyone who meets her falls in love.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:
Eggnog is doing pretty well with potty training but as mentioned above she is no fan of our weather here in the Northeast. She needs encouragement to go outside and will need some time to get the job done.
Her mouthy excitable behavior is something that verbal correction has been effective with. Offering toys or chews when she exhibits this behavior will help her learn what types of things are for chewing. She knows basic commands, someone spent time teaching her once and she is a very bright girl.
If you are interested in adopting Eggnog, please read her complete bio on our website before completing an application.
Eggnog's adoption fee is $750.00 based on her age plus a $150.00 domestic transport fee.
