For any clients that haven’t downloaded PetDesk, now is your chance!

PetDesk is a free app that helps keep track of your upcoming vet appointments, request vet appointments, keep up with your pets vaccine history, request medication refills and more.

All the clinic needs is a phone number and email on your account that way once the app is downloaded, all of your pet’s information is already linked. You can also add pictures to your pets profile!

🌟PSA🌟

Due to the increase of recently new clients and only being staffed with one doctor, we would like to express how thankful we are for your patience with us!! It has not gone unnoticed!

With that being said, we do want to make it aware to our clients that our appointment times are booking up quickly. We are booking out about roughly 2 weeks for routine vaccines and although we don’t see emergencies, we do try our best to get in those sick patients in a timely manner.

We have and will continue to have a limited number of “drop off” appointments per day. What a “drop off” means is that inbetween our other scheduled appointments, Dr. Link is able to step to the back, examine each patient thoroughly and then come up with a treatment plan. Once done, you will receive a phone call going over what we discovered and given a time for pick up later that day!

Again, we thank you for understanding and having patience with us!

Shannon is our most recent hire with having been with us almost 1 year. Shannon comes from Texas and down there she was always involved in the animal field. She worked at a local rescue in Texas while doing a little bit of everything. She helped with walking dogs, fostering, answering calls, taking amazing pictures, event planning and animal portraits.

Her degree is in Media Communications which shows! She takes amazing pictures (mostly candid) and she has an eye for drawing.

She is also our “bug lady”. She knows just about everything when it comes to insects and she was our lifesaver during the 3 week cicada invasion.

Thank you Shannon!!

Hannah (and Murphy)!

Hannah came to us in 2021 and started as a kennel kid! She showed alot of interested in learning the roll of a technician which she has done wonderfully! Her skills have grown over these last few years and we are proud to see her do so well.

She is a large animal lover and has a farm of her own with her family. She has dogs, horses, ducks and more!

Thank you Hannah! Oh, and Murphy!

ATTN:

Throughout many years we have offered boarding. At this time, we have decided to no longer offer this service in order to focus solely on healthcare for our patients starting after Labor Day weekend.

We will honor any scheduled boarding made up until Labor Day weekend and for those who have scheduled boarding past Labor Day, we will still honor you reservations!

However; in the future, you will need to make other arrangements. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks,
Mon-Clair Animal Hospital

This week we are talking about Cameron and Allison. These two are our “kennel kids” but they are more than that. They take care of the boarding dogs during the week, nights and weekends. They make sure our shelves are stocked and they help with keeping our clinic clean. Cameron and Allison have also learned how to help with appointments like working hands on with the pets, being able to fill prescriptions and also learned a lot of knowledge regarding medical cases.

Cameron has been with us since August of 2022. He will be going to Basic Training for the Army at the end of July. He wants to be a Corrections and Detention Specialist when basic training is done. We will miss you Cam!

Allison has been with us since July 2023. She got accepted to MIZZOU this fall on a Pre-Vet scholarship with a major in Animal Science. She would like to work with small and large animals when she graduates! Good luck Allison!

Thank you both! We will miss you and good luck on your future!

This week we are featuring Lauren.

Lauren has been with Mon-Clair for a year and a half, but has been client for over 15 years! She works up front in the “hot seat” with her being the first person you typically speak with as you come into the clinic. She is also our Inventory Manager which is always a tough job but she does great at keeping the clinic stocked.

She graduated from SIU with a major in Equine Science and when she isn’t working at Mon-Clair, she is caring for the horses and chickens at the farm. Lauren is our go to girl when our doctor needs assistance with our large animal clients.

Her favorite dog breed is a Corgi and she actually has one herself. His name is Harry and he is a clinic favorite.

Thanks Lauren!

Amanda!

Amanda has been here with us since October of 2022. She is one of our Vet techs so you will mostly see her in the rooms working hands on with the patients.

She graduated from Lindenwood with her Bachelors in Biology! She worked emergency animal medicine previous to working with us so she is quick and smart with her tech skills.

Amanda is our go to girl for German Shepherd Dogs and has a special spot in her heart for tabby cats!

Thank you Amanda!

Heartgard PLUS vs Interceptor PLUS and the reason we are switching to Interceptor PLUS here at the clinic.

Heartgard PLUS has been on the shelves since 1996 and has been a top runner in heartworm prevention for years. While Heartgard is used for preventing Heartworms and intestinal parasites such as hookworms and roundworms, there is a study from recent years finding that a intestinal parasite, Alveolar echinococcosis, is now being found in wildlife and is getting passed along through f***s to our household pets that Heartgard does not cover.

Alveolar echinococcosis is a parasitic tapeworm infection found in foxes, coyotes, and dogs. It is spread through "hand to mouth" transfer such as the egg of the parasite being on the fur of our pets, possible droppings that might happen in the house or contact with an animal that is infected like hunting.
"AE is caused by tumor-like or cyst-like tapeworm larvae growing in the body. AE usually involves the liver but can spread to other organs of the body. Because the cysts are slow-growing, infection with AE may not produce any symptoms for many years. Pain or discomfort in the upper abdominal region, weakness, and weight loss may occur as a result of the growing cysts. Symptoms may mimic those of liver cancer and cirrhosis of the liver." Taken from https://www.cdc.gov/echinococcosis/about/about-alveolar-echinococcosis-ae.html?CDC_AAref_Val=https://www.cdc.gov/parasites/echinococcosis/gen_info/ae-faqs.html

While we love Heartgard PLUS, we made the choice to switch to Interceptor PLUS not only protect our pets, but to protect our families such as babies and small children who tend to have their hands in many things. We wanted to get the information out to our clients in hopes the change helps decrease the spread of that parasite.
It is also very cost friendly too!!!

Call the clinic at 618-476-3786 with any questions you might have.
