Scout is 56 days pregnant with her second litter of mini labradoodles and she is definitely full of life! She had a vet visit for a puppy count and pregnancy weight, weighing in at a healthy 24 pounds. Take a look at their first family photo and try to guess how many precious labradoodles are on the way!

I will post the answer in comments tonight. šŸ˜‰

What to do if your dog eats something they shouldn't have.

#1 call your vet.

If it's after veterinary hours you can induce vomiting. But it has to be within 2 hours of ingesting the foreign object.
And even sooner if it was a possible poison.

Hydrogen Peroxide to Induce Dog Vomiting
Hydrogen peroxide 3-percent solution is the recommended method for making a dog throw up. Fortunately, itā€™s also a common thing to find in our home medicine cabinet. Itā€™s a good idea to include a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in your dog first aid kit in case of an emergency away from home.

Hydrogen peroxide is a topical antiseptic that can be used as an emetic to make dogs vomit when owners canā€™t get them to a veterinary hospital quickly. Hydrogen peroxide is an irritant to a dogā€™s intestinal tract and typically works within 05-15 minutes, causing your dog to throw up about 50 percent of the contents of their stomach. The vomiting can last for up to 45 minutes, so make sure you give your dog hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting in a place where he will feel as comfortable as possible throwing up. Avoid their normal sleeping, crate, or feeding areas; consider a bathroom or laundry area where you can provide them with a quiet, out-of-the-way place that can also be easily cleaned.

Hydrogen peroxide is generally considered safe to induce vomiting in dogs when administered by a veterinarian. At home, however, you donā€™t have the luxury of veterinary expertise. Donā€™t make your dog throw up if they exhibit any of the following symptoms or conditions:

Already vomiting
Severely lethargic
Comatose
Decreased swallowing ability
Difficulty breathing
Seizures or hyperactive activity
Recent abdominal surgery or megaesophagus (a generalized enlargement of the esophagus)
Consumed corrosive agents, sharp objects, or drugs

How to Make a Dog Throw Up
First, always call your veterinarian or an emergency veterinarian. Even if you plan on making your dog throw up at home, a veterinarian is a valuable resource and will be able to provide you with the most accurate information about your dogā€™s condition.

If your dog hasnā€™t eaten within the last two hours, giving them a small meal can make it more likely that they will vomit.
Make sure you have a 3-percent hydrogen peroxide solution. Higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are toxic and can cause serious damage.
Administer the proper amount of hydrogen peroxide: the suggested dosage is one teaspoon (approximately 5cc or 5ml if youā€™re using an oral syringe) per five pounds of the dogā€™s body weight by mouth, with a maximum dose of 3 tablespoons (approximately 45ml) for dogs who weigh more than 45 pounds. But ask your veterinarian about the best dosage for your dog and only induce vomiting if your dog ate the substance within 2 hours.
Administer the dosage with a oral syringe or turkey baster and sq**rt it from the side by pulling back your dogā€™s lips and sq**rting between their back teeth. You can also sq**rt from the front into the back of your dogā€™s tongue or mouth. Be careful not to let your dog inhale the substance, as this can lead to aspiration. If your dog doesnā€™t vomit within 15 minutes, you can give them a second dose.
Stay with your dog while they vomits. Collect the vomit for your vet to analyze, and donā€™t let your dog eat anything they vomit up.
Keep an eye out for complications and adverse reactions, such as vomiting for more than 45 minutes, diarrhea, lethargy, gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV or bloat), or gastric ulcers.
Follow up with your veterinarian as soon as possible.
You may consider soothing your dogā€™s throat with a pet-safe liquid respiratory supplement after inducing vomiting, but ask your vet before administering anything I always give a special treat of soft canned food about a hour afterwards.

It's been a week since Cricket was attacked by another dog, and her recovery has been a slow but steady process. To give you an update, I made a video of her progress, which shows her still bubbly personality and recent haircut. Once she gets spayed on Friday, we hope to hear from the vet that she's making progress as planned.

UPDATE---- SHE HAS FOUND A FAMILY šŸ¤—

Hello Hidden Valley Doodle friends. Big news. I have decided to keep Stella as part of our program. She is the daughter of Brandy and Milo. She is a first generation Labradoodle she will be 35 to 45 pounds and I am excited for her future potential. This leads me to my next announcement I am looking for a Guardian family for her.
If your not familiar with the Guardian family program here is a brief description.

I work with a variety of non-profit service dog programs and also work with the Guardian dog home program.

Not all the parent dogs of my litters live with me. Some are co-owned by me and other families who believe in the program.

As a Guardian home, you get a free puppy and the dog stays with you as your family dog for the life of the dog. In exchange, we retain breeding rights for a certain amount of litters starting at sexual maturity and ending once the female has whelped a set amount of litters. Each guardian dog contract is unique, but itā€™s usually between 1 and 4 litters depending on what weā€™re trying to accomplish with that particular female and how well she reacts to being a mother.

We provide our Guardian families with cash bonus when their female produces a litter.

When the dog is older and has completed his/her breeding obligations, we pay for the dog's spaying/neutering, and your dog comes home to enjoy the wonderful life you have provided for him/her since puppyhood.

I would like to talk to you about a very difficult subject that we do need to talk about because it's happening more and more these days.
DOG ATTACKS

Recently one of our very own Cricket was attacked. by a pitbull while out on a walk. when she was on break from her job as a house dog at Pillar hospice Home.
She was a little shaken up. but has been seen by a vet. and is now on 14 days of antibiotics anti inflammatory and pain medicine. she suffered some puncture wounds.
She is expected to make a full recovery. and does not seem to have any emotional scars to this as she still plays with the dogs here and unknown dogs with open heart.

With all of that being said I would like to address a couple of issues. and give you strategies that you can use if this ever happens to you.

First of all this was an unprovoked attack from a pitbull. now before you all go blaming pitbulls and getting all wound up. you got to remember this is what they were originally bred for this is in their DNA.
as strong as it can be..
every animal that is domestically bred has traits that are deep within them.

pit bull, fighting dog developed in 19th-century England, Scotland, and Ireland

Although pit bulls were originally bred and trained to display aggression against other dogs, aggression against human beings was not encouraged, because, even while fighting, the dogs had to be handled by their trainers. Dogs displaying this trait were not selected for breeding. However, the resurgence of dogfightingā€”illegal in the United States, Great Britain, and many other countriesā€”led irresponsible breeders to encourage such traits in their animals and to mistreat them in order to induce a vicious temperament. Well-publicized attacks on people by dogs identified as pit bulls led to the passage of legislation in some jurisdictions that bans or restricts the keeping of the breeds. Some humane societies routinely euthanize dogs thought to be pit bulls that come into their possession, because they deem the dogs to be unsuitable for adoption.
So when you come in contact with one on a walk with your companion or at your local dog park here are some tips on how to help your chances of hopefully not ever to be the victim.

First always report a dog aggression incident whether it be dog on dog or dog on human what you don't know is with each attack they get better so your dog or your child may only have a scratch or one bite but the next one won't be so lucky if there is a report then they have to protect the public from this dog. It's not always euthanasia they have this thing called a basket muzzle that the dog can wear when on walks or playing with other children and other dogs that allows them to drink water pant bark but they can't bite

Now here are a few things to consider having handy that will hopefully help.

When walking your dog, you can carry items to create barriers or deter aggressive dogs, such as:

ā€¢ Walking stick or cane: Can be used as a physical barrier

ā€¢ Whistle: The loud noise can stop an attacking dog

ā€¢ Citronella or pepper spray: Temporarily irritates the dog's eyes to provide an escape opportunity

ā€¢ carry a small water spray bottle with whenever walking your dogs. have it set the nozzle to the setting where a jet of water comes out instead of a spray when you press the trigger. It covers a distance of 5-6 feet easily. I have found this to be quite effective so far. Whenever the dogs get too near they get sprayed. They back off.

The recent hot and humid weather has been tough on our Doodles friends. Early mornings and late evenings have been filled with outdoor playtime, while the air conditioning and fans provide a cozy atmosphere indoors. Our puppies are napping peacefully, prioritizing their comfort above all else. May we all learn from their zest for life! And love of a good cool place to nap.

We are Celebrating the upcoming milestone of Cricket's precious Flintstone babies turning 8 weeks old on Friday! We captured their tiny, sweet moments in a photo shoot, showcasing each one as a true Rockstar. Don't miss out on the last opportunity to bring a cricket baby home. Cricket will be spayed in August and continue her role as a beloved house dog and comfort at Pillars Hospice. I am so proud of Cricket for being an incredible mother, friend, and source of joy. She has found her calling and will be deeply missed.
