Got a new puppy and dont know where to begin?
The number one thing you should be focusing on is building a relationship with *you* through positive reinforcement training.
Start by teaching your puppy how to lure!
Luring is a foundation skill and is an easy and powerful engagement building game. It's as simple as holding a treat in your hand and teaching your puppy to follow it as you move it around in different directions.
Once you have mastered the art of luring. Begin using this skill by encouraging the puppy over various different objects to build confidence and trust in your leadership.
These 7 week old puppies are just starting their training journey by learning how to lure, learning to how come when called, socializing and having tons of fun all while building their confidence in a busy and distracting group setting, which is setting them up to be confident well rounded incredible adult dogs! All of this learning jam packed in just 1 positive experience!
At Puzzles Labradors, we go above and beyond socializing our puppies. Our goal is to set you and your new puppy up for a lifetime of success!
We have an incredible rock solid socialization protocol that our puppies go through before leaving us and we give you a head start on training to accelerate the learning!
Maisie graduates Puppy Head Start camp tomorrow! She was a bouncy puppy who loved to jump and pull on a leash, but now she walks nicely on a leash and greets people politely! She has also gotten a lot of fun socialization experiences with us which are super important for puppies!
Leash skills you can count on! This is what I teach my camp students. A nice loose leash and an attentive dog by my side.
Camp student Riley sticks by my side as I carry a 50lb sack of feed during our morning farm chores together.
Camp Student Riley having fun AND being a good boy!
Camp Student Maisie is a 6 month old golden doodle here to work on her pulling, jumping and learn her manners.
Camp student Riley is at camp to work on his reactivity towards other dogs.
So we've been working reallyyyyyy hard on teaching him how to relax and coexist around a variety of different dogs!
He's doing amazing and is one step closer to becoming the good boy we know he can be!
Our boy, Chip the Service Dog, finished his big adventure and met his new boy a few days ago, and they are the best of friends already! πβ€οΈ
Chip's new handler's mom came to do training with us, and he was a perfect boy and had a flawless transition!
Chip was an amazing boy waiting in the airport for a nearly 4 hour delay then taking a 7.5 hour flight (his first plane ride.) He arrived to his new home last week and is now officially a Danish dog who will be living in Denmark as an autism service dog! π©π°
What a journey it has been! From being born here into Jamie's hands to puppy raising and socialization to training to public access. It was truly a joint effort between the two of us and we could not be more proud of our boy. Enjoy your new life Chippy Dippy Doo Da!
Here he is meeting his new boy!!
Here's a little before and after of recent camp graduate, Lyddie!
Lyddie came to camp as a hyper hot mess and she went home to her family as an eager to listen happy pup!
The first clip is at the beginning of camp, and the second is at Lyddie's go home lesson with her owners.
Lyddie learned to control the chaos instead of just acting like a fool when she sees something exciting (which was everything, lol) , and now her and her family can enjoy a more peaceful life together!
If Lyddie reminds you of your pup, we can help!
Feeling a bit like Deja Vu here with our newest camp student being sooo much like our last graduate! We're going to make her into a rockstar too!
Meet Holli! A super sweet two year old goldendoodle who absolutely cannot sit still. We are so excited to have her stay and learn with us and become the best girl she can be!
Camp Student Lyddie graduates today! Hard to believe this little rockstar couldn't sit still when I first met her!
