🐎 Hell on hooves. 🐎

While we stepped away this past weekend, our volunteers reported a Tater terror moment where both Tater and Khloe were having a knock- down drag out over one tiny morsel of grain left behind from Cheyenne.

Tater, doing what Tater does, grabbed Khloe’s ear and proceeded to bite along with her withers not letting go. Thankfully there were no injuries.

On Monday, Tater painted a far different picture than the story we were told… however, what Tater doesn’t know is that we have 2 cameras backing up our volunteers statement, and he’s got some explaining to do… 🫣😬😅😂

Strutter is gaining more than just weight, he’s gaining a new and healthy perspective on life.

Arriving underweight, severely lethargic with hind end weakness, Strutter is now feeling more like himself, and no longer the empty capsule in which his healthy self used to reside.

Strutter now weighs in at 765lbs which means since his arrival into our care on September 13th, he has successfully gained 62lbs.

He is chugging along nicely with his rehabilitation with sights set on a complete recovery. 🐎❤️‍🩹

Good Morning and happy Tuesday from this beautiful Arabian, Keegan, a Tiny Acres NWFL rescue alumni!

Keegan is both living and loving his best life nowadays with his amazing adopters the Hamiltons.

Keegan, a former stud, was found running down the interstate right outside of Panama City during Hurricane Michael.

With his herd of mares and foals in tow, this group of horses had escaped their home during the Hurricane and became the traveling bunch.

Authorities noted the very nasty and cruel condition of the owners property where Keegan and his herd was kept, at which time they were seized and transported to another equine rescue in Tallahassee. Shortly after, Keegan was gelded and transferred into our care where he was treated for a heavy bot fly larvae load within his hind gut and further training/handling.

Some time had passed and the Hamiltons made their way to our facility and fell head over hooves for this beautiful Arab. 6 years ago they opened their home and hearts to this amazing fella and it’s been happily ever after since.

Bless you to the Hamiltons for being outstanding adopters and amazing folks. 💙

Happy Trails Keegan. 🐎💙

Someone once told us that the most ideal place for a fully blind horse was within the confinement of a 12x12 paneled enclosure with a seeing-eyed donkey.

Gypsy begs to differ. She says, the most ideal place for a horse like her, is in the knowledgable, and loving hands of true horse gals!

This is where misinformation creates opportunity for animal neglect and cruelty, and why we base all things on experience, practice and moral conduct versus the inexperience of others.

This beautiful, 27 year old fully blind sanctuary horse, spends her golden years on 24/7 turnout with the option of a shelter if she so chooses.

I can’t imagine a life as the one recommended previously. Could you? ❤️‍🩹😮‍💨

Friendships come in all forms. Some honk, hollar and harass you for a cookie, others roll in the horse poo, climb on the picnic table, knocking over your water, while others love them both just the way they are! 💓🥰

That’s what real friendships are. Tiny Acres NWFL is more than just a rescue, we are a family! Our entire team feels like we’ve known one another for years. From all backgrounds, walks of life, coming together to serve and protect these once unwanted and discarded animals, making a difference and long-lasting positive impact. 🐎

Sometimes, all it takes is a little patience.

Patience is key with animal care but more specifically with rescued animals.

Progress is achieved through due diligence, softness, sincerity and most of all patience.

Patience teaches us that the things in life that we yearn for come at a cost, not of monetary value but at the cost of time, repetition and again patience.

One thing most of our rescues have been deprived of before arriving here is time, understanding and patience. You will go so much further with the most simplest of gestures, and a genuine heart.

Four months ago, this big, beautiful Paint Horse made his way into our care as a local owner surrender case.

Our organization is the second known rescue that this poor soul has been in, a past and life so unfair it’s heartbreaking to know.

Due to Saviors bald (white) face and lack of pigmentation (pink skin) he is susceptible to skin cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) which is exactly what he had in his right eye at his time of intake.

A face burnt, raw, bloody and infected, with oozy eyes, you could see and feel his pain.

Fast forward to today, Savior has made a significant recovery. He underwent an enucleation of the right eye (cancerous eye) which immediately relieved him from his pain.

After removing his sutures today, we made note that his eye is 100% improved with no raw, pink or flaky skin and the eye socket is nearly healed up entirely.

His behavior now indicates that he is much happier and now pain free.

Our team is incredibly happy to watch him thrive and to know that our community of supporters stood by us with this decision to move forward with eye removal surgery.

Your support has afforded Savior a happy, pain free existence, increased longevity and now a healthier outlook.

We and Savior cannot thank you all enough. ❤️‍🩹

Dahlia is showing some progress in her overall mood and willingness to eat.

She refuses to take her liver supplement but is more willing to eat her feed which is now a lower protein content to help lower her liver enzyme levels.

Dahlia will require an ultrasound on her liver so that we can get a visual on any potential causes for her failing liver, it could indicate any growths or abnormalities if present.

Please continue to pray for this beautiful mare. We know your prayers work, we have witnessed their power on many occasions.

Thank you all for checking in on her too. She’s a special girl, so deserving of quality care and all of the love the world has to give. ❤️‍🩹🐎🙏🏼

The journey that awaits you is our gift to one of the most amazing, beautiful horses we’ve ever known.

Our absolutely gorgeous, free-spirited rescue Journey is embarking upon the second, final, and most splendid journey of her life in the next couple of weeks, when she leaves our facility for a sprawling 1,400-acre sanctuary in Murchison Texas to join a herd of her own at the well-respected and renowned Black Beauty Ranch!

Black Beauty Ranch is one of America’s largest and most diverse animal sanctuaries. They are a part of the Humane World for Animals formerly known as the Humane Society of the United States and hold accreditations by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, Big Cat Sanctuary Alliance as well as the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance.

We spoke with a member of their BOD to discuss Journey and to see if she would qualify as a candidate. After hearing of Journey's very traumatic past and her extreme reluctance towards humans,
Black Beauty Ranch graciously opened their hearts to Journey where she will join a very large herd of her own, full of horses just like her.

Journey is free-spirited, the image of true beauty, grace, and resilience. Not all horses are meant to be what humans intend for them to be, and with Journey, this is exactly her case.

Journey will be leaving our facility on November 5th, where a few team members to include our Director, will haul her, so that we may personally let her run free and see this absolutely stunning sanctuary facility.

We’ve been asked, “If she is happy, why not just let her stay with you?” Our response to this is simple. What we have provided to Journey was rescue, safety, and love. We’ve healed her once broken and extremely sick body, and watched her thrive, mature, and learn about herself every single day. We’ve learned from her, listened to her, and through our daily actions over the years, recognized that instead of our goal for her, she in fact had a goal of her own. Why keep her here, in a smaller paddock, on a significantly smaller property when she can literally have the world and share 1,000 acres with other horses? Where she can feel freedom, yet know that humans will still care for and love her, yet there is no stipulation.

This is the best news for this bright and beautiful mare, who once had no spark left in her.

We love partnering with exceptional animal welfare organizations that understand horses and love them as we do. We are so grateful for this wonderful opportunity provided to Journey by BBR.

Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the departure date! 💓

Congratulations Journey! It’s finally your time! 💜

You know when Volunteer Betty has been out!

Not only does she do a fantastic job with cleaning up spent hay, she turns our ponies into fashionistas!

Khloe and Maggie are rocking out these beautiful new hairdos! 😍

Thanks for all you do Betty! 💓

Welcome to Tiny Acres Northwest Florida Inc. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit equine rescue (EIN# 84-3137897). With our great efforts, we have saved horses from neglect cases in Santa Rosa County, kill pens in Texas, as well as throughout the State of Florida and neighboring states. Our rescue also offers a Horses from Hospice program which allows for us to help families who are in ill-health or who have deceased by taking in their horse(s) that they have left or are soon to leave behind . We have made saving animals our lives purpose and we greatly enjoy what we do. Our motto is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome.
