Due to some unfortunate events, Ms Aurora, Midnight and Boogie are staying here with us for free until a rescue or home is found for them. They enjoyed their stay here with us last night with warm cozy blankets and a roof over their heads these guys are looking for homes, if anyone is interested they are all dog friendly. Up to date on shots. Sweet sweet babies!

Sorry not sorry but from here on out if you notify us you will be arriving at a specified time to pick up your pups and do not have the courtesy to contact us you are running late there will be a $25.00 fee plus next calendar day charges! Client 🤑 "Why should I tip my dog groomer ? If they wanted more money they should just charge more! "
✂️🙋 Pet groomer *raises prices because the price of doing business increases*
Client: 😲 "how dare they want to turn a profit !"

🧐 Are we living in the same economy, bebs?

Things your pet groomer is (probably) responsible for as an EMPLOYEE :
- their equipment and maintenance of equipment
*Clippers can cost between $200 for corded and $600 for cordless. Repairing them costs $75 to $100 when your dog kicks them out of our hands.
* Blades cost about $35 each. There are 7 common blade lengths we need (40, 30, 10, 7f, 5f, 4f, 3) an attachment comb kit with metal teeth of different lengths cost about $75 to $100 as well.
*Scissors: we need thinners, straights and curves but the average pet groomer has about 8 pairs of scissors for different needs. Each pair can cost anywhere from $200 to $900 for name brand, Japanese steel. A sharpener who's no good at their job is all it takes for our equipment to be ruined PERMANENTLY and have to be replaced (this has happened to me twice 😭 only send one pair with a new person ok? It's worth the extra shipping)
*Of course we have brushes for getting matting out these can cost $20 to $100 depending on brand. I lost count of how many combs and brushes are in my collection but we need tools for EVERY coat type.
*Blade oil, quick stop, ear cleaner, ear powder, blade disinfectant, perfume, belly loops to make them stand, special nooses like a harness called the "trach-saver", hemostats, things to organize our things, aprons, scrubs, chiropractor appointments, alllll the lotion and bandaids for our aching hands, fatigue mats (yeah my work doesn't even supply those for us- I even bought one to put on my table for the dogs So they can be comfy too) cotton balls, baby wipes.... These are all things that I am personally responsible for supplying at my job.

Startup cost = approx $1,400 to $2k
Annual maintenance (sharpening on a 4wk schedule rotating tools) = $850 to 1,000 including TIPS FOR THE SHARPENER, and the occasional replacement of smaller tools and blades.

*SCHOOLING: around 12k in my area is what it costs for a formal introduction to this industry. That price does INCLUDE TOOLS I am told.

Don't even get me started on the cost of running your own business....
