Another couple trays of peppers coming out this afternoon.

05/24/2020

A small assortment of tomato 4 packs (some have a couple extras) just came out to our stand. $3.00 each.

05/24/2020

Lettuce leaf basil, truly one of the largest leafed basil plants we have ever grown. This variety may just be our new favorite. Anyone else thinking about tomato basil wraps with dinner this evening πŸ˜‹.

05/24/2020

We are placing some reading material down at our stand to help you select the perfect plant. Google search may still be required for some items, and we offer WIFI out there as well. Just look for MONKEY BEAR wifi when visiting.

We also just brought out several very large Coustralee tomato plants, the largest potted tomato plants we have to get you ahead of the short growing season.

05/23/2020

Funny how a simple post from the feed stores page about extra chicks turns into monkey bear farm posting about new chicks on the farm πŸ˜†. 12 assorted new chicks in the brooder chirping away!

05/22/2020

If you are wanting to grow beneficial plants for bees and butterflies we can certainly help. Out today at our stand are some Swamp Milkweed plants. These are a favorite of the Monarch butterflies and greatly appreciated by bees and other butterflies. Grow these by a pond or stream that gets full sun for best results.
Each pot is only $3.00.

Eggs, glorious eggs, wonderful eggs!
Egg cooler is the fullest we've seen in a while. Duck and chicken eggs available at our stand. 21 Brown Rd, Milton, NH.

05/19/2020

Our small scale operation means alot of hand written plant tags. If we could, we would put detailed descriptions on them, but our penmanship and patients prohibit that degree of perfection😁. We do offer WIFI at our stand and highly recommend Googling for more details. Look for MONKEY BEAR in your network settings, no passwords required. You can also text, message, or email and we will respond as soon as we can.
Thanks,
Have a fantabulous day.

Spinach, lettuce, and kale are starting to grow in our experimental A frame garden. Harvesting should be a treat once ready since there is no bending or weeding required😁. And yes, that is a call duck hanging out under the garden.......

05/18/2020

Potatoes are planted. This year we are trying a potato tower for the fingerling potatoes. There are four layers of spuds in the tower and five pounds of sets on the ground. Everything is covered in straw instead of soil which allows them to grow large and simplifies planting. We'll be eating potato pancakes before we know it πŸ˜‹

05/17/2020

A couple new things at our stand today.

Hand sanitizer: provided for your use when visiting our stand. We never really thought about this before but seems like a good idea going forward.

Note pad: your opportunity (in addition to Facebook) to let us hear from you your thoughts and any suggestions. Drop a note in the honor box, let us know how we are doing 😁.

Stay safe, eat, and grow local. Have a wonderful day,

05/16/2020

A few more plants out at our stand today.

Coustralee heirloom beefsteak tomato: for those of you that like your tomato's the size of a small pumpkin 🀯.

Bloody butcher heirloom tomato's: smaller size tomato 2-5oz but very early producer πŸ˜‹.

San marzano vine tomato: the most perfect plum tomato from Italy, thick wall and a great canner πŸ₯°.

Some king of the north bell peppers, annual and perennial herbs, and much more 😁.

05/16/2020

We are starting to bring out some herbs to our farm stand today. There are more on the way. Out now: basil lettuce leaf, purple, lemon, Cardinal, and large leaf mammolo.

05/12/2020

I have helpers in the greenhouse tonight😁. I couldn't just leave them out in the rain, now could I.

Cash App - Get Your Stimulus Check in Less Time

Monkey bear farm is trying to modernize and make things easier out at our farm stand for the self service model we use. Today we are working on setting up a way to pay by simply scanning a QR code at our stand to pay electronically. We are going to use the Square CASH APP that can be downloaded to your mobile device. A link below will take you to the site, or search play store for CASH APP. We certainly hope this method will make it easier for those who do not typically carry exact change with them. Look for the QR code this week when visiting our stand, it will be displayed next to the honor box.

Last year we were made aware that there was a thing called "pumpkin on a stick" 🀯. Well we searched and found some seeds. This year monkey bear will be growing this fabulously wonderful plant. Late season stems make great fall decorations. We will have a few of these out for sale later this month as well.

Funny how a snowy day gets you thinking about summer gardening 😁

05/09/2020

Another first time grow for us this year is swamp milkweed. Possibly one of the monarch butterfly's favorite milkweeds. Who knew there were multiple varieties! πŸ€”πŸ€—πŸ˜‰. We will have these available later this month as well. See comments for a link to an interesting article about milkweed.

05/09/2020

Lettuce leaf basil, just one of the many varieties of basil we have out in the greenhouse. This mild basil grows very large leaves about the size of your hands. This makes an excellent addition to a salad or your favorite wrap, heck you can use it as the wrap filled with your wrap favorites. Now I'm getting hungry😁.

With luck temps will start to come up and next weekend herbs will be out at our farm stand.

05/09/2020

It is so much nicer in here than outside today, our little hornet buddy agrees with us for sure😁

05/09/2020

All kidding aside, our snow peas are doing great😁. It'll take more than one chilly morning to keep these from coming upπŸ˜‚. ......... I couldn't resist this post πŸ˜‰
Happy gardening everyone.

05/09/2020

Not sure why but today seems like a good day to plant SNOW PEAS πŸ˜πŸ˜€πŸ˜†πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ€£.

05/08/2020

The egg cooler is full again, chicken and duck eggs. 3 for chix and 5 for duck.

05/05/2020

It's been interesting this year getting all of our favorite seeds, to say the least. Another one of our go to suppliers has come through for us just in time to get the seed trays started. And while they did not have all the items we wanted in stock they did have Turkish orange eggplant seeds. Who could pass on that! It just may become our new favorite eggplant😁.

05/05/2020

Our A frame planter is sproutingπŸ˜€. After trying both drilling holes and cutting rectangular openings we decided to do the remainder as the latter. Both the spinach and lettuce are starting to grow. This should make harvesting a fairly simple chore. Stay tuned for more updates.

05/03/2020

We have some broccoli plants out at our stand today. Green Magic 4 packs $2.00 ea or 3/$5.00 while they last.

05/01/2020

It sure is difficult getting the yard work done with all these distractions. But hey, who wouldn't want to stop and watch these guys go puddle hopping.

05/01/2020

Duck pile. Little ones enjoying the warmer weather this afternoon.

04/29/2020

Hopefully no one is getting tired of cute little ducky pics and vids, spring has just begun and more ducks are nesting. We like to post in the moment here and duckies are what's happening at the moment πŸ˜†πŸ¦†πŸ˜

04/28/2020

Time to come out if the pond and warm up after a nice swim.

04/27/2020

And now there are 8 little ones🀯. Momma spent entire day at pond with 6 babies yesterday and no eggs were visible in the nest after the six hatched. Somehow overnight 2 more appeared!!!!!?? Farm is getting busy, and did I mention another duck has gone broody 😁

04/26/2020

They are so tiny! We now have an additional 6 call ducks😁 running about the farm.

04/26/2020

Barely a day old and swimming lessons have begun.

04/25/2020

Trying to plant asparagus roots with ducks is quite the project. They keep jumping in the trenches to steal the garden worms😁.

04/25/2020

Our call ducks have started to hatch😁. There are three little ones so far that we can see.

04/25/2020

Some of the basement tomatoes have started to flower! 🀯😁, Too bad we are looking at snow again on Monday. We may be picking tomatoes down here before too long😁
