Here are the Guinea pigs we assisted The Cozy Cavy Guinea Pig Rescue with... she received 156?? Piggies.

We got some mommas and babies. A few still have little umbilical cords.

Our newest hamster intake, Hamwise Gamgee, got quite the upgrade when she got to our amazing foster on Friday ❤️

Her old cage is on top, which although still too small, is still bigger than what most hamsters are provided in captivity.
Her new enclosure on the bottom, believe it or not, is the MINIMUM enclosure size requirement for a hamster.

Our knowledge of animals has vastly grown over the years which is why many people will look at this large enclosure and think it's crazy to provide so much space for a single hamster. But let's talk about why it's important.

Hamsters are active animals that. In the wild they travel multiple miles each night, so they need a big enclosure to keep them active as pets too.
A large cage provides enrichment for hamsters, allowing them to behave as they would in the wild by climbing, exploring, burrowing, and foraging.

Hamsters need a deep layer of substrate for burrowing, sleeping, and storing their food.
Experts suggest 10 inches of substrate is ideal for maximum enrichment.

They also require a wheel, a sand bath, numerous hides, climbing opportunities and a vast diet including foods to forage for.

Unfortunately most pet stores do not encourage proper pet ownership, which is why you see them selling the tiniest inadequate cages for most species. My opinion: This may be in part because they'll have less people buying animals when the care expectations are higher- thus they make less money. Or they could be banking on the animals early demise, ensuring the customer will be back for a replacement pet- thus making them more money. Who knows 🤷‍♀️

But it's not uncommon that you hear of a tragic hamster story, and I'm sure 90% of the population will tell you how mean and bitey hamsters are. But I'm here to tell you, respectfully, it's you- not the hamster.

Hamsters, like any other animal, get stressed, sick, moody and unhappy when they are kept improperly. Signs that your hamster might be bored or stressed include excessive grooming, bar biting, finger biting, pacing, hyperactivity, hiding, fur loss and going into torpor (hibernation.)

Hamwise has gone from bitey and hiding- to happy and exploring in just 48 hours in an upgraded home.

The happiness you'll witness your hamster experience from just a simple enclosure upgrade is such a nice feeling. They deserve the best and it's you're responsibility to provide it for them.

Transport for guinea pigs is secured. Helping The Cozy Cavy Guinea Pig Rescue this is not *my* surrender, I'm just assisting, we all need to stick together and help when we can.

I offered assistance for up to 20 female pigs, babies & pregnant moms

Just cuz...lol

The importance of regular pouch checks....I do this at LEAST 3 times a day. Tonight's pouch checks before feeding....I noticed their little noses are blue.... that's a sign they are to cold. I brought in my Eden pure to rectify the situation... PLEASE GLIDER OWNERS DO REGULAR CAGE CHECKS.

Update on hedgehog found on the side of the road

Don't mind me... its hard to video a hedgie and hold it at the same time. Just fed her and figured I'd show her off. She still isn't eating anything on her own. I have a camera in her cage to keep track. But she was 56 grams and today she weighed in at 60!! She is still crying for mom and litter mates. She's THE MOST vocal hedgie I've ever experienced lol.
