Nevada Landworks / Smith Valley School April Athlete of the Month is: Seth Rigsby - Varsity Track and Field

The athlete of the month for Track and field goes to Seth Rigsby, who continues to push himself at every practice and willingly helps his peers to improve as well. Track is a passion of his, as was demonstrated when he attended a special camp last summer to help him improve on his skills, which has helped him achieve the number 1 rating in pole vault for the entire year. He is not just a one event athlete either; in addition to pole vault, he runs the 100 meter dash, 4x400 relay, and is the anchor for the 4x100 relay.

Lady Bulldog’s March Athlete of the Month is: Gracie Lewis - Varsity Track and Field

The individual I’ve selected to honor is “testing out track” this year and would be considered a rookie. Even though I’ve had multiple students set personal records at track meets throughout this season, I’ve never had one individual set FOUR personal records at the same meet on the same day in all my years coaching. It is for that outstanding performance, and for her desire to improve every day that I’ve chosen Gracie Lewis as the track athlete of the month.

Lady Bulldog October Athlete of the Month is: Reese Urton: Volleyball

October's athlete is Reese Urton. Reese is our team's libero and it's a very important position. Game after game, practice after practice Reese has the ball pounded at her. You have to read the ball and be quick. Reese is one of the best liberos in the state. Reese has also worked hard at being a positive influence and leader on the team. She has a can-do attitude and uses her club experience to help her further her team.

I feel Troy is deserving for Athlete of the Month because of his stats in September. Troy had
42 Carries, 246 yards (5.9 average per carry), and 1 Touchdown. On defense he had 9 solo tackles, 12 assists, 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Lady Bulldog September Athlete of the Month is Karen Medina: Fall Cheer

I think Karen Medina is very deserving! Karen comes everyday with a cheerful attitude, and ready to work hard. She has begun to take more of a leadership role among the squad, and is always willing to do whatever I ask of her. Even if it is out of her comfort zone or something new. I’ve already seen a lot of growth from her and am super glad to have her on our team!
