Strike Team K9 SAR Seminar Recap:
What a week it has been! I learned more than I ever imagined and loved every second of it!
I had the opportunity to audit HRD (land), HRD (water), Area search and Trailing at this seminar. I can't pick a single discipline out as my absolute favorite still but it was amazing to see these dogs work in all 4 disciplines!

I am so thrilled to continue my journey and learn along with some amazing people I met at this seminar! What a fun learning opportunity this was!! ❤️

I am thrilled to announce that I have been accepted as a trainer with Pets for Vets !

I have known about this organization for a couple years now and fell in love with their mission! Being a proud daughter of an Army veteran and a dog trainer who works with many rescue animals, it just made sense! I am really excited to work along with them to help make an impact 😁

Thank you to everyone who has been cheering me on as I went through their application process and interview!

This past weekend, I got to volunteer my time for DFWGRC CCA and attend Nancy Talbott's breed seminar on structure and movement.

I learned so much from these short two days and am excited to apply this new knowledge with my golden retrievers!

Happy 12th birthday to my Haruzol! I am so grateful to still have this spunky and sassy girl! She reminds me everyday that she is ready to work, even at 12years old!!

Barn Hunt Practice
Tomorrow 2/23/25, we will be doing drop in barn hunt practice!
*This is open only to those who already has the basics down (dog can be new to it but the handler should know the basics already)*
Each spot is 30mins long and we will do instinct, novice and open level.

Mantrailing/Blood Tracking
If you have been wanting to learn about mantrailing (Trailing after a person) or blood tracking (Tracking after "wounded" deer), I am excited to announce that we will hold a FREE informational session tomorrow, Febraury 23rd from 2pm-4pm!

This is open ONLY for our students (past or present) and you can bring your dog to try it out!
Please let me know via email, FB, or text what you would like to try (blood tracking AND/OR mantrailing) so I know how many tracks we need to lay.
Meet up will be at our training facility!

AKC FIT Walk
This is a FREE event for anyone who wants to join for a nice walk with your dog! This walk can also go toward your AKC Fit title if you have a dog that is registered with AKC.
February 23rd at 830am (Tommorow!)
Location:Lindale Darden Park
Meet up location:Parking lot right next to the park
*I will have my car with AKC FIT CLUB flag on it*
Equipment for walk:-Slip Collar-Buckle Collar-Martingales-Body Harness-Muzzle-Head Collar (Gentle Leader/Halti/Other)-Leash (4-6ft)
Equipment NOT allowed:-E-Collar-Prong CollarBitch in Season:BIS may join but we do ask that the dog follow behind the group!
Age:Dog must be at least 6 months old to participate!
Fee:This is FREE event for anyone who wants to join!
Multiple Dogs:You can walk with more than one dog as long as they are under control.
App:Feel free to track your distance with your phone app or wearable device if you want to work on your FIT title!
Forms:I will have printed forms for those who want this group walk to count toward your FIT title!

UBT TX Blood Tracking Seminar Recap:
Apollo and I got to go learn about wounded game recovery (mainly deer) and got to put it to the test!
He did well during the practice trail and was able to get to the hide.
During the UBT 1 test, he was adamant that he was not up to it and we ended up calling it off early.

I rarely ever test without full blown preparations but I wanted to try it out so I can learn about it in detail and make my mistakes while I had someone there to give me constructive feedback. Things that I felt he was going to be deficient in is what we ended up seeing so that's good to see!

Both of us learned a lot and met some wonderful people along the way! We were fortunate enough to acquire some training kit from a generous couple we met and already got plans to train for the next seminar!

We shall see how it all goes by the next seminar! 😁 Here's to learning! ❤️

Smithville Barn Hunt Recap:

Trial 2: NQ (Hit on litter)

This weekend was Apollo's first trial at Senior level. He did very well on Saturday but today, I can tell he was fatigued and just not feeling himself. Not the prettiest runs but he still had fun and tried his best with what was left of his brain cells!
