Foster homes needed!! 🐈🐈‍⬛

Did you know that all of our rescue kitties are taken care of in foster homes? From intake until adoption, our cats are kept in foster homes aside from their quick day trips to the vet.

Being a foster is so important because it allows more kitties to be helped. Even if somebody is able to foster 1 cat at a time, that is so helpful! With the days getting so cold, more cats are being found outside and homeless. Our fosters have revolving doors and as soon as one is adopted, another or 4 (🤭🫣) replace the one.

Saving Grace provides the supplies and vetting and you provide the space and love! It’s great to get family involved and teach children the importance of kindness and helping others. It’d also a great way to earn volunteer hours for high school or college students. Cats are absolutely hilarious and so therapeutic!

If you have thought about fostering or think this is something that you may be interested in, please send us a message! If you can’t foster, please share our post, you never know who may be interested in fostering. The more foster homes that we have, the more cats that we can take in. We get so many calls and messages daily and we just can’t intake them all.

Several of our fosters are taking breaks during the holidays which means we need you more than ever! We have a lengthy waiting list of cats in need of help. We have adult cats, single kittens, litters of kittens and teenage kitties on our waiting list. You can let us know what you’re willing to help with and we will get you set up and ready to go.

We made a huge goal to raise $5,000 for giving Tuesday that would be matched to total $10,000. We have made great strides on our goal and are only $1,000 away from meeting it!!

We decided to make another great goal we hope to achieve by the end of the month. We want to find all of our current residents home for the holidays! These sweet hearts are so deserving of love! Can you give them a warm lap to snooze on this winter? All of our cats are vetted, litter trained and ready for their forever homes! The adoption fee is $80 for cats 6 months and older and $130 for kittens younger than 6 months. We also offer great discounts on bonded pairs!

Cute kitten alert!! 😻

This darling crew is ready for adoption. They are the perfect combination of cuddly and playful. They enjoy getting pets and snoozing on laps. A sweet kitten or two would be the perfect thing to keep you entertained this winter! These little cuties are 2 months old. They are vetted and litter trained. They are currently being fostered in Platteville, but adoption transports to Madison are available as needed. Their adoption fee is $130 for a single kitten or $200 for a pair which includes their spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, microchip, dewormer and flea/tick preventative.

Next week Iowa County Humane Society is offering affordable spay/neuter transport for pet owners in the area! Pick-up and drop-off will be at the humane society, and all animals will be transported to Madison for vetting.

We are thrilled with the results so far from our Giving Tuesday campaign!! Yesterday we managed to raise $2,382 which will be matched by a generous donor! Our donor has extended their match and is willing to match all donations received in December! This means you still have an opportunity to donate if you missed your chance yesterday. Today is the day!! It’s Giving Tuesday!

We had an incredibly generous donor offer to match all gifts up to $5,000! This is amazing! It means during our Giving Tuesday campaign your donation will go twice as far!

We have raised $310 so far. We have a long way to go to get to our goal of $10,000! Every dollar counts to get to our goal. If you’ve considered donating, now is the time since your donation will be doubled!

There are so many organizations asking for your donations this holiday season. Why should you choose Saving Grace?

We are a no kill, 501c3, volunteer run organization so 100% of your donations go to cats in need. We are fostered based so we have no over head costs and no paid employees. Each dollar is used for medical care or supplies. We have rehomed almost 200 cats so far this year and have spayed and neutered nearly 300 cats in 2024 alone. We are bursting at the seams and we get rescue calls daily. All incoming rescues need medical care such as exams, vaccinations, spay/neuter, blood tests, medications and even very complicated and expensive surgeries.

Due to an unusual situation this year, caused by a very warm fall and winter, kitten season exploded! We’ve had several medical cases this kitten season and the costs add up quickly. Our monthly vet bills are always in the thousands. It is all worth it to save these precious lives!

Early giving starts today!! 🎁

Petunia and Bud are not just adorable siblings; they are survivors. These two sweet hearts were two of the many kittens we had battle panleukopenia, which is a tough battle for tiny kittens. We had a very unfortunate run with Panleuk this spring. It shook us to the core and tested us in every way. We unfortunately had 26 kittens contract the deadly virus. We are so grateful that with the help of our wonderful vets, we were able to save 22 of them. All 26 kittens required wellness appointments, around-the-clock care, and specialized treatment. The cost of this care added up significantly. Thankfully, we have the best supporters so we were able to provide this care. Today, all 22 of our panleuk survivors are happy, healthy, and in their forever homes. 💕🐱

This Giving Tuesday, you can be the reason more kittens like Petunia and Bud get a second chance. Your generosity helps provide lifesaving care, medicine, and a safe place for kittens to heal and grow.

There are only 2 more days until !

On Giving Tuesday the world comes together to honor non-profits after a weekend of shopping. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that is recognized to remind us of generosity and the reason for the season. 🎄

When Noble arrived at Saving Grace we thought she was a typical 3 month old kitten. Little did we know, that was not the case. Noble had been diagnosed with idiopathic juvenile epilepsy. She has a seizure disorder and requires significant care to keep her seizures under control. We have been working closely with the neurology specialists at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine to come up with the best care plan for her. She has already had 5 check ins with the vet and will continue to require monthly blood work to ensure she is getting the appropriate dose of seizure meds. Since she is a rapidly growing kitten, the dose of her meds will frequently need to be updated until she stops growing.

With the help of generous donors, Noble will receive the medical care she needs in order to be a happy and healthy kitten.

Only 4 more days until Giving Tuesday!!

Your donations help us cover the cost of the medical care needed for our special kitties all year long. Cats like Ducky benefit from your generosity. Ducky was born with a stage 4 heart murmur. This is the most severe heart murmur we have come across in the 700+ cats that we have sent to the vet.

Ducky requires further work up so we can understand more about her heart condition before she’s ready for adoption. This extra care requires extra funds. None of it is possible without you!

Only 6 more days until

Both Talia and Grandpa came in with severe eye injuries. They required surgery to remove their ruptured eyes. They were in significant pain prior to the surgery and recovered beautifully. They’re now living happy and healthy lives.

Your giving Tuesday donations give us the option to say “yes!” when we’re asked to help with situations like this. Each dollar donated directly improves the life of a cat in need.

The countdown to is on!

When Dumpling arrived at Saving Grace she was in need of extra care. She was only 4 weeks old and came in with a severe upper respiratory infection and eye infection. We went right to work to get her the care she needed. Sadly, Dumpling was born with a condition called entropion. Entropion is a medical condition in where the eyelid folds inward. In Dumpling's case, her left lower eyelid is rolling inward toward the surface of the eye. It can be very uncomfortable, as the eyelashes continuously rub against the cornea causing irritation. Once Dumpling is old enough she will need surgery to correct her eyelid.

With the help of generous donors, Dumpling will receive the medical procedure she needs in order to be a happy and healthy kitten.

4 days old and they’ve already been through too much for such little ones. I’m grateful that we have the foster support in order to say “yes” to situations like this. After caring for them for two days I’m exhausted and ready to sleep in more than 2 hour increments. Bottle baby fosters do not get enough credit! 🙌🏼 I love this video of them dreaming. Sweet little ones 😻

TNR day!!

Our trapping spree is off to a good start! We had a cat trapped before we even had the third trap set! 8 cats down.. 12 to go! Wish us luck. We get so many questions about TNR. We are the first true TNR group in a 3 county radius (at least) so it makes sense that folks have questions. Here is some info to help you understand. •TNR stands for trap, neuter, return. Even though the acronym doesn’t include it, we also spay females, vaccinate, deworm and provide flea/tick preventative to all cats that we trap. •TNR is the most humane way to decrease the cat over population crisis •We facilitate a full circle rescue program. This means when we are given kittens from a property, we return to spay and neuter the rest of the colony so we don’t continuously need to rescue kittens from the same farms. •if the cats live in a safe place, with a care taker and shelter, they are returned to the same property. If they are friendly, we offer to rehome them •our TNR program is solely funded by donations and adoption fees from kittens we rehome. We don’t receive any grants or public funding to do this. •most colony care takers cannot afford to have the entire colony (10-60 cats) spayed and neutered so they often offer a small donation and we cover the cost for the rest. •cats are often ear tipped. This is when the tip of a cat’s left ear is removed during surgery as a universal sign that the cat has been spayed. That was a lot of info! ✨Day in the life of a kitten foster parent✨ There is nothing more entertaining than a litter of kittens. It is so fun to watch them grow and explore the world. Adopting a kitten is fun too, but they will inevitably grow up. Fostering kittens is the only way you can enjoy kitten cuteness for years to come! We are always in need of new foster families to join our team. We provide all supplies needed, cover the costs of vet care and line up adopters. The foster family is only responsible for providing a safe place for the kitties and their love. If you’re interested in learning more about fostering please send us a message!

Weaning kittens!

Kitten season is in full swing! We have 4 nursing mamas and several weaning kittens in rescue right now which means we need a lot of food to help the babies grow big and strong! Our preferred food for our young kittens and nursing moms is the Royal Canin mama and baby cat food. The cats love it and it gives them the nutrients needed to start them off on the right foot. We are running low on this food and could really use donations! Hercules 💪🏼

We’re sure you’ve all been wondering how Hercules is doing… this guy is just as sweet as can be! He is recovering from his surgery well and it has not impacted his mood whatsoever. This guy is an expert biscuit maker and he will make biscuits on everything including cage bars or your lap. He is ready to graduate from cage rest but this is the safest way to prevent him from jumping. All of his medicines haven’t been agreeing with his tummy, but other than that you’d never know he just had surgery! We are so proud of this guy and are so glad we didn’t give up on him based on how bad things looked.
