A wonderful example of a man of principle and leadership

Former NSA Board member John von Stade passed away on November 25th after a lengthy illness.

von Stade was the Race Chair at the Far Hills Race Meeting for many years, a Trustee for the Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase Foundation, an NSA Board member and a long-time board member for the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

In 1995, Mr. von Stade was selected to receive the F. Ambrose Clark Award — the highest honor in steeplechasing — which is given periodically to an individual who has done the most to promote, improve, and encourage the growth and welfare of American steeplechasing.

Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church in Owings Mills, Md.

Thanks to all. It really does take a village

Happy Labor Day! We're taking a minute today to recognize the myriad of laborers behind the face of steeplechase racing.

Here's to the grooms, exercise riders, farriers, veterinarians and equine dentists. Here's to the feed man, the tack shop owner and the hay distributor. Here's to the maintenance crew on the farm, the grounds crew at the track, and the folks who help with seeding and fertilizing. Here's to the van driver, and the guys who drive the truck with the fences from meet to meet. Here's to the race meet directors, sponsorship coordinators, volunteer coordinators and bookkeepers. Here's to the photographers, the video guys and the journalists who keep steeplechase racing visible.

We know we've missed a whole lot of folks. The point is, really - there's an ARMY of folks behind the horse, jockey, owner and trainer in the winner's circle. And today, on Labor Day, we just want to say THANKS.

Danny Mullins who frequents the NSA circuit from time to time here in the USA is in the news. Here's Danny going over the Easyfix_official hurdle Tipperary Racecourse on his way to the treble. Congrats !

Jockey Danny Mullins completed a treble at Tipperary, completing the feat in the Ballykisteen Hurdle on the John Ryan trained front-runner Fairyhill Run.
